I know of some christian people at church that play the lottery because they know that it can better their lives if they win.. The other people at church that don't buy the lottery tickets and that call lotteries a sin, are some of the hypocrites that are playing church bingo or bingo anywhere else, and not calling it gambling. Bingo is gambling too, they forget about that..

I don't care what anybody say's. I know the lottery works, and that is all that is important!

I don't know if this has been mentioned in the previous nine pages of posts, but when this very thing has been brought up before, I've countered with the fact that investing in the stock market is a form of gambling.  With some types of manuvers, you only make money when someone else loses it.   All sorts of things are a gamble; for example, riding in a car with my ex-wife was one.

Thanks, rdgrnr.  I joined a few weeks ago but have been lurking in the forums for a long time, reading and laughing (and sometimes shaking my head).  I have a bookmarks folder that has the Texas Lottery, the Powerball and Mega Million sites as well as this one.  I have learned to come here first because in the case of the PB and MM drawings, this site has the earliest results.

                              Hey there mikeintexas.

I forget the name of the movie but there's one about Vegas with a scene with then then real-life editor of the Las Vegas Sun (now past) and in the movie a reporter asked him about gambling. He said whenever he meets someoene who is critical of gambling he askes them if they have any type of insurance.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                              Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.
