Has anyone else experienced this...it being sunday and all I am reminded of what my sister keeps saying...Playing the lottery is gambling and gambling is a sin...her church is big on not gambling and such...her pastor has said on more than one occassion that lottery winnings would not be apprieciated or accepted as tithe...which shocked the crap out of me LOL...now I've asked her point blank "So if i won you wouldn't want any of the money"? LOL I have yet to receive a straight answer from her on that...but has anyone else experienced this I mean I can't even mention the lottery around her without a chastising look....LOL it dosen't stop me by the way....

I was starting to think b2b had "faded away"..........  Keep that gambling spirit alive my friend..........

What is a lottery scholarship? Is that gambling?

Ronnie, The lottery scholarship is money generated from the sales of lottery tickets for the Carolina 5 lottery here in South Carolina.  Students who graduate with high GPAs are eligilbe for scholarship funds to help pay for college, but they have to keep their grades up to continue getting the scholarship money each year in college...I thought it was funny because in the beginning, she was against the lottery, but didn't mind using the money for her son's educational fees.

When the lottery first came to South Carolina, I had a Christian friend who was very against it. Oh, she fussed and raised cain about the sin of gambling and the lottery, etc....Just so happened, a year later, I overheard her on the phone with her son, whose grades in college had apparantly started slipping...What was so funny is she was fussing to him about pulling his grades back up so he wouldn't lose his lottery scholarship! Ha!

                    CinCin,

When a riverboat casino I worked on opened some of the employees told us they were getting snubbed by their neighbors. "It's bad enough you're divorced, do you hare to take a job with a casomp, too?", etc.......

The same pit clerk who told us that story said within a year all the people who were giving her static had asked her for free passes to get on the boat.

                    PS

A lot of us who had come from Nevada could think of nothig more ridiculous than to stand in line and pay admission to gamble.

                    All:

Some would see these are biblical referneces about gambling:

                    John 19

23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. 24 They said therefore among themselves, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says:

“They divided My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.”[d]

                    Proverbs 26:11
As a dog returns to his own vomit, So a fool repeats his folly.

(Could refer to any foolish endeavor).

Not necessarily warnings against gambling, but it is a mention of gambling.

Also, wasn't there a news piece a few years back where a jackpot winner wanted to gove $1,000,000 to the Salvation Army and they wouldn't take it?

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                    Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Your whole story sounds like made-up BS to me.

You don't like Christians - who cares?

And how convenient you choose to berate the one that turns the other cheek instead of the one that saws your head off. How valiant!

What in the world are you talking about LOL Who said anything about not liking Christians..........lol

The largest religious group in my state thinks gambling is sinful too.  They're also the ones with the largest families and most numbers of kids.  But in Idaho lottery profits go mainly to schools and it's okay somehow that evil lottery players and their tainted money subsidize schools for their kids.
