I guess i forgot to mention she reminded me to play a "grouper" that day, (the tic paid out over 10,000.00 on a quickpick) if she did not tell me I would not have won....plus a lil kindness and sharing always goes a looooong way in life!

The guy in Fountain Hills AZ won $200 million after telling the clerk "No I don't want $20. worth, only $10. worth please"  Does this entitle her to a gratuity that employee are NOT allowed to receive?

If you have 15 $500 winners Im worried that the money you spent on tickets could fill a shopping cart?

    Ronnie,

There's no doubt about that. I never said this gambling thing of mine was a smart thing....

$10 million should be a sufficient gratuity.

After being fired for receiving the gratuity, the clerk could then retire to the Cayman Islands, and open up her own store.

All the lottery clerks I deal with are pretty rude and they act like they are making an effort to wait on you...and they seem disgusted that I never buy anything else.  Yet, every other type of retail clerk I deal with in a non-lottery capacity is much better. So the lottery clerk gets 0$ from me. I'd rather give any tip to the homeless.

I've always wondered if clerks become jerks after they get the job or if they were jerks before they got the job.

In other words: Do clerks become jerks or do jerks become clerks?

That is a question that will haunt mankind for eternity.

As a perk, some clerks became jerks.... the others became politicians.

If  I had  a job as a clerk, I would probably become a jerk,

but if I was a jerk I might not be able to get a job as a clerk ! LOL

I very well could be wrong (often told I'm by clerks & jerks) but maybe being a jerk is a quailifier for the position.

Yes, this will haunt ...all... well.. at least until I get a job as a clerk...and then ....well never mind.

As a person who has had several customer service jobs in his life I'll give you my opion.

It varies, it really does. I've worked with people who stared of as nice charming people who smiled at all the customers and wished them all a good day. Only to be turned cold and callous by people who wish to take out their bad days and miserable lives upon you. I've also worked with people who were unhappy before they began working thereand the job only made things worse.

Now, as far as giving the cashier that sold me the ticket a tip, absolutely , regardless if it was a qp or my own numbers.

If I won a pretty sizable amount that exceeds what I spend in a year's time ... then maybe.

Otherwise, I spend enough on a weekly basis, that my small wins don't cover my losses ... so they're not getting anything from those.

Our store has heavy foot traffic of scratchers. So much, the clerk collects losers and occassionally finds a winner. He then uses these to play starting with the big games, MM/PB, then Cash 5/Pick 6 until he got hooked with twice daily Pick3. Once he won 10x str8 on a Pick3 and tipped me $100.

Today he's stalking me everytime I win on a scratch off. I kinda hate it but I feel bad if I dont. The Lottery is really addicting and spares no one. Even the clerk who just makes minimum wage.

                            LOL!! HE tipped YOU?

See how the little things in life become a major pain in the neck? One little thing can become something you'll
regret for a very long time.

One thing I'll never do again is show a clerk a big winning scratch off. You are remembered forever, constantly
questioned about 'how you're doing' and it doesn't have anything to do with your health...and you just get the
feeling you are being watched. ALL the time. You said...stalking....I'd sort of have to agree. That's what it feels
                            like.

Choose your lottery buddies wisely. Better yet, don't choose any.

In this case the clerk should be tipping the player...What?
