Other people involved in lottery winner's slaying, attorney says

Insider BuzzInsider Buzz: Other people involved in lottery winner's slaying, attorney says

TAMPA, Fla. — Though Dorice Donegan "Dee Dee" Moore is the only person accused in the slaying of Florida Lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare, "there were other people involved," according to her lawyer.

"From my review of the probable cause affidavit and my investigator's review, I see plenty of room for further investigation to develop evidence that Mrs. Moore was not involved in the murder or not the primary person involved in the murder," said attorney Stephen B. Fisher. He was appointed to represent Moore after the Hillsborough County Public Defender's office said it could not represent Moore because of a conflict of interest.

Investigators say Moore, who first met Shakespeare in December 2008, siphoned off the last $3.5 million of his nearly $13 million after-tax lottery winnings before killing him almost exactly a year ago.

Shakespeare, 43, was shot twice in the chest inside a home at 5732 U.S. 60, near Plant City, according to investigators, and his body was then buried under a concrete slab on the property next door owned by Moore and her boyfriend, Shar Krasniqi.

Shakespeare's body was found Jan. 28. Moore was arrested Feb. 2 and eventually charged with first-degree murder. She is at the Orient Road Jail with no bail set.

In a Feb. 1 interview with The Tampa Tribune/TBO.com and in a letter to the newspaper last month, Moore maintained her innocence. She has given investigators at least five versions of who killed Shakespeare, including herself, in self-defense. The common thread was that in each case, Moore said she was there, investigators say.

"There is no credible evidence linking anyone other than Dee Dee Moore to the homicide of Abraham Shakespeare," according to Moore's probable cause affidavit.

Fisher, however, said Moore was not alone the night Shakespeare was killed.

"It appears to me that there were other people involved in Shakespeare's murder," Fisher said. "I think it is quite possible from the evidence I have seen that someone else pulled the trigger and did so without Mrs. Moore's knowledge."

Fisher would not say who else he thinks was inside the house with Moore the night Shakespeare was shot, nor would he name anyone else he thinks might be involved in either killing Shakespeare, burying him or taking his money.

Investigators do not want to comment about Fisher's assertion that someone other than Moore pulled the trigger.

"We are plugging away," said Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Col. Albert Frost, who is leading the investigation into Shakespeare's death. "This is kind of a complicated case and we are slowly digging. We are looking at all angles and not ruling out that possibility, but we are not going to comment on it."

The body is buried on her property and she had nothing to do with it????

You must think my last name is PlankHead!!!

Yea right, and I own a goose that lays 100% pure gold eggs.

This reminds me of Ollie North from the Iran Contra Scandal, "Yes I lied, and that's the truth."

C'mon Mr. Fisher, give the general public a little credit.

She has given at least 5 different versions of the story and each  claimed self defence??????..She is guilty as He**!!!!!!!

I would want to beat her a** if she stole my money, too!!!  Her and her crooked attorney are trying to gain sympathy in the media..so she won't get the needle.

I agree, let's execute everybody in jail without trial as long as we think they're guilty.

I say we start with OJ!

Good point.  "Innocent until proven guilty" should apply to all.  I wonder if she's able to use any of the money she "siphoned off" to pay for a "Dream Team".  Probably not.

Well, she can have the same  shot OJ did..take her sorry behind to trial, then if the jury finds her INNOCENT..then she should go free!  Everyone is always talking about OJ but look how many times blacks were hung and the perpetrators went free..I say at least that one time he may have been guilty but a jury found him innocent.  It was about time, we got one!!

OH boy here we go again.............

@ ridgy.......OJs trial was mentioned in my book The Drunkards Walk. Basically it's saying that of the 4 million women battered annually by husbands and boyfriends.......in 1992 1 in 2,500 were killed by their husbands or boyfriends. This was used in the defense. The statistic they failed to mention was that "of all the battered women murdered in the United States in 1993, some 90 percent were killed by their abuser."

The only one who will ever truly know if he is guilty or not is OJ.

Some things shouldn't be discussed.....I think OJ is one of them.

I will only say this....when I served on the Grand Jury one of the court reporters was talking to us (we had alot of down time)   Anyway she was talking about the tape with RJ Kelley. She said even she could see that it was the girl he was on trial for being with......yet the parents told the court that it wasn't their daughter. WHY????? He gave them money to start their own business........  And of course he was found not guilty.

In this case there probably are more people involved. Hopefully someone will come forward with more info.

An innocent young woman almost decapitated with a butcher knife and an innocent young man with his throat slit and you celebrate it?

"It was about time we got one!!"  ???

That is too sick and depraved to warrant a response. May God forgive you for your hate filled heart.

I hope they get all of the <snip>s and put them away for the rest of their life without the possibility of parole. In fact if the trigger person can be identified; that person should be put to death.  The rest of the gang put away for life.

A lot of those people who did the lynchings were found not guilty by juries too.

So you condemn and then support the same corruption of the legal process.

You can't have it both ways.

The outrage here though is that you would applaud a murderer getting away with the slaughter of two innocent people. Two families utterly devastated by having their loved ones butchered alive and you consider it a good thing.

That kind of thinking comes from a sick, twisted mind.

In America a jury also acquitted 4 police officers even though they were caught on tape beating Rodney King.

I don't think the jury found OJ innocent........they simply could not PROVE he was guilty. There is a difference.

This isn't about OJ or Rodney....it's about a woman accused of killing a man and no doubt about more people being involved in this.
