BrooklynScoff- no combos ever ever ever on p4. box the play for the same dollars you spend on the combo and collect in the store as opposed to going to casino/NYL and getting a W2-G statement for taxes (also- play 50c box for 4-way and 6-way numbers otherwise you have the same issue).

One of the Power Ball pools that I am a part of at work won $50k but there are about about 32 people in it so we will probably get about $1,200 - $1,300 each after taxes ... still pretty cool

Oh by the way, here's the icing on the cake! Those 19 players who won the $681 will have to paid taxes before receiving their pay, waiting period 6 to 8 weeks. CL have to run your SSN to see if you owed the state any $$ or if your child support is up to date. You can cash a California winning ticket up to $599...anything over CL hands is out!

Jamora is right about the play type and/or .50 CBO's for dbls. Just to clarify further, you can deduct gambling losses against Federal, but no longer the NC Taxes. North Carolina Added to Bad States for Gamblers Taxable Talk CT, IL, IN, KS, MA, MI, NC, OH, RI, WV, and WI do not allow gambling losses as an itemized deduction. These states income taxes are written so that taxpayers pay based (generally) on their federal Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). AGI includes gambling winnings

Most stores feel that way because they only get $.06 on a $1 plus they have to pay taxes on it so they end up with $.04 on a $1 so don't take offense. The only store that I know that doesn't feel that way is at Penn Station as they have 5 machines that are constantly busy!

uni side note : start save your non-winning time and dated stamped lottery tickets. So you don't pay any tax on your win.You write off your losses with time dated stamped lottery tickets when you do your taxes. just sayin lol ,.........and good for you congrats (dream believer now).
