Question? If you win money playing on-line, do you claim it on your taxes?

I want to apologize to Twenty$straight for blaming him for the misinformation about increase's winnings. I bit him/her hard because I was extremely peeved about the tax thing. No excuses, I got that wrong and I apologize.
Also, Twenty$straight and I have chatted privately about the tax thing and I apologize for biting him/her so hard. I explained to them that I have personal bitter experience dealing with the IRS and I'm not speculating or talking out of my hat about the powers they will use

She doesn't want to payout for Triples or quads during this Pandemic.
She is in the business of taking not giving.
Does TN lottery ever give donations during Tornadoes or this Pandemic. Billions of dollars for scholarships come on MAN. They can help with other programs like helping with property taxes. Indiana has a Tax exempt program that helps pay property taxes.

Sorry that was a typo, I meant to say 5.8%. (Typing on my phone).
Actually they do combine, this I know from experience. And not once but multiple times,(As recent as March this year), and all the time they take Federal taxes too.
I got back about $7000 on a $10,000 win Mega Million even after state and federal taxes hit.
The trick I learnt, is people cash the tickets individually if the combined is going to be more than $5000.

Well done on your run of hits. Hope you are hitting big and winning big bucks.
The payout in the story seems consistent with paying Federal taxes upfront. Isn't it around 35-37%.
She probably doesn't have to pay the state taxes until next year.
This is why I play individual tickets in P3. When I hit for a several grand I get it all.

I was just reading this news listing https://www.lotterypost.com/news/311512

It is another rip off.
If you play $1 straight it will cost$ 2.Example if you play 735 and it comes in then they have the fireball draw using 10 balls numbered between 0-9 and 10 blank balls .If 7, 3 or 5 comes in then you win double the prize and instead of winning $500 you will win $1000.But, and the big but is that then the winning prize is over $600 and you have to go get a check from the lotto office and they will take 28% out for taxes so all you are going to win is $720.Rather then pla

He can do whatever he wants as far as cashing them. I wasn't talking about taxes. When I won big I cashed my tickets at several differents stores as to not have been given a big lump of cash all at once. I spaced it out over some days. I live in a big city and its just not safe to have anyone see you getting that much cash at one time. But its the thrill of cashing in all those tickets I was referring to. Whatever works for ya.
FYI technically any winnings are suppose to be reported to the IR

I asked the people at the lottery headquarters here what happens if you win over $600 with pick 3 tickets as far as taxes goes and was told that each ticket is a seperate payout so if you won $1200 with several tickets you still pay no taxes as it's when you win one lump sum over $600 that you pay the 7% state tax.
So if he went to just one Food Lion store they would probably go ahead and pay him......but if I won that much I might would go to more than one store too.
I am wondering if th
