NY Dream Team 2024
NY is the only state that expects everyone to pay higher taxes while delivering zero in return. Worst streets in the country and despite all the money nyl rakes in... they can't get any random ny government employee to hit a button on their thoroughly test fraudulent ping pong ball machine when it's time.

NY Dream Team 2024
Imagine with the ridiculous taxes and endless potholes I don't see traveling in other states...they can't push the on button on a ping pong ball machine on time. Thanks NY. Keep up the bad work

When is the right time to hang your lottery boots?
Here is an alternative to quit playing the lottery. Spend a lot less money by joining a pool. For the current series of Mega Millions draws, I have been spending only 35 cents per draw. The pool is buying 20 tickets per draw. Not a lot of tickets but still enough to win. My share of the jackpot for the Friday draw is $3 million. This is the cash value and before taxes.

DC man sues the lottery after incorrect numbers posted on website would have won him $340 million
Thanks for posting this...somehow this page eluded me. If this clown keeps waving attention flags maybe the nearby IRS will look into his taxes (seriously doubt that).

Maryland: 2/1 - 2/29/2024
Here's what they said. My question. If a win on the double box payout totals an amount over $600 do we have to fill out a claim and pay taxes on it? Example, if we play a dollar box on a Pick 4 double for $400 and get a Double Box Payout ticket that would be $800. Do we have to fill out a claim to get the $800 if we win? Or will the retailer just gives us the $800 cash? Thanks! Their answer. Good morning Mr. Wurston, Thanks for checking in again. The tax threshold of paying t

One Michigan lottery ticket wins $842.4 million Powerball jackpot
It's a double whammy with US State-only lottos. They have low payout percentages, at least with Powerball and Mega Millions. Then they have high taxes on the winners. Account for all the money going in from the players and out to the State, and you see how unjust US lottos are. That's what happens with all coerced monopolies, which is what all US State-only lottos are. You get ripped off with inferior coerced-monopoly products.

Massachusetts lottery winner of $25 million scratch-off prize will enjoy Christmas in Aruba
Unfortunately as players we cannot dictate the payout percentages and taxes, so we just voluntarily play knowing all that. I am glad that I live in a state that doesn't tax the lottery, so after uncle Sam takes his 37%, I get to keep the rest.

Poll: Classic Mega Millions
Get your point. But...interest rates control the difference between annuity prize and cash value prize. MM cash value for Tuesday draw is $175.4 million. That's enough for me. In fact, at my age, $1 million ($630,000 after fed taxes) is enough for me.

Texas Lottery pays out largest jackpot in state history with $360 million Mega Millions claim
You are very right. Also the taxes, at least the initial tax is based on the state of purchase. There are two likely scenarios, the winner used to live in Texas but moved after it the winner was just driving through from SD and won.
