Scratch-Off Ticket numbers/codes
I need information about the numbers/codes printed on Scratch-off tickets. This is for the NC education (NCEL) lottery Scratch-offs. I don't know if different states use different systems. 1. The 12 digits printed in the play area of each ticket. It's a sequence of 12 digits. 8 digits that are non-underlined and 4 digits that are underlined. It's in the form xxxxxxxx - xxxx . Store clerks type the 4 digits into a lottery terminal to validate if it's a winning ticket. I guess they're requir

Check the trash for instant money
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! (Funny subject line!)You are so right! If you did not know, some states use random non-winning codes for prizes over $500. So, that could fool players who just scratch for the recognizable winning codes! It takes humility, I agree. It's like people who go and collect aluminum cans for recycling. There's money to be made. I pick up pennies when I find them in random places. I used to be embarassed when my grandma does it, now I do it all the time.Remember the story o

Security heads list of lottery priorities
There could be a lot of winners after scratch-off lottery tickets go on sale at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow. But it won't be because the lottery manipulated the games to produce more winners right away to entice more people to play.''It will appear there are more winners the first day than the second day,'' said Rebecca Paul, president and chief executive officer of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corp.''We'll sell more tickets the first day so we'll have more winners based on the fact that you sell more

Minnesota Lottery to offer online 'scratch-off' tickets
Terrible idea. This cheats the long time players who don't and will never play online scratch offs IE: scratch offs have a fixed number of winning tickets. Suppose the three top tier prizes on a 20 dollar ticket which would pay a million dollars are all online codes. that means the customers who play paper tickets in stores wouldn't have a chance in hell of winning the top tier prize.

Unclaimed Idaho Lottery prizes add up to millions
That's the one I go to, and never bought there for the same reason, till they got the vending machine. The only problem I've had at the machine is with scratch off players hogging it. Some of them stand in front of it and quickly scratch off the code and if it's a winner they scan it again to apply the $$$ to their balance, then buy more tickets one at a time and scratch the codes till they get another winner. As long as they have a balance in the machine, it's hard to cut in. I'm not impatient

Been Playing Scratch Offs But Fear I Have Been Throwing Winnings Away...
Thank you so much for your help. Now I understand so much better. BTW, I live in Florida. I have always scanned my winners and thrown away the losers. Thats because I simply go by the matching number in my Season Greetings scratch offs. There are only 5 numbers for me to scratch off and there's no fear of me missing one...believe me. The codes always appear under the number as an abbreviation of that number.

Been Playing Scratch Offs But Fear I Have Been Throwing Winnings Away...
Does this apply to the Season Greeting scratch offs and the Resolutions? I have won over $270 this week in the past 4 days and have never seen anything like that. Do you have to scratch the ticket clean to reveal those? It seems that as long as the numbers match what does it matter about codes???
