Indiana woman claims $2.5 million Lotto jackpot
A Summitville couple is nearly $1 million richer after winning the Hoosier Lotto jackpot prize.
Pamela and Jay Smith won $2.5 million in the May 9 drawing. Hoosier Lottery officials made the announcement at a news conference in Muncie on Tuesday.
I hope it doesn't change a thing, Pamela Smith said in a news release. I have a very nice life. I have everything I need.
The Smiths decided to take their at the couple's home late Tuesday.

Reflecting bad times, some lotteries hit losing streak
State lotteries are down on their luck as players cut back on games of chance.
From California, where sales for the past year are down 5%, to Florida, where sales slipped 7%, fewer people are gambling on scratch-off tickets and numbers games.
The economy probably has affected lottery sales the way it's affected all discretionary spending, says David Gale of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries.

Auto workers collect lottery winnings
There haven't been many happy stories involving Indiana auto workers lately, but one family is an exception.
A mother and her two daughters, one retired from General Motors and two who work for Delphi in Kokomo, cashed in Monday, claiming an $11 million Hoosier Lottery prize.

Indiana couple wins $50,000 prize for 2nd time playing same game
An Indianapolis couple beat the odds when they claimed their second $50,000 Lucky 5 Hoosier lottery prize.
Elinor and John T. Phillips of Indianapolis claimed the prize Thursday, less than five years after Elinor Phillips won $50,000 on the same game in 2004.
Elinor Phillips said her heart fluttered when she heard the numbers for the Feb. 24 evening draw.

Indiana convenience store sells winning $163M Powerball ticket
The Southeast Indiana community of Lawrenceburg is buzzing with news that a convenience store there sold the one winning Powerball ticket in Saturday's drawing.
The winning ticket is worth $163 million, just under $100 million if the winner takes a lump sum payment. The identity of the winner remains a mystery.

The winners of a $57.6 million Powerball prize have collected their money without ever showing their faces.
Lottery officials say the identities of people who split the Nov. 22 Powerball jackpot may never be made public.

Indiana prosecutor wins $50,000 lottery prize
Wells County Prosecutor Michael Lautzenheiser of Bluffton won $50,000 in Wednesday night's Powerball drawing, the Hoosier Lottery said Thursday.
A second $50,000 ticket sold in Fort Wayne had not been redeemed, the lottery said in a statement.
Lautzenheiser bought his winning ticket at Pak A Sak, 904 S. Main St. in Bluffton, according to the lottery's statement. He said he has been playing the lottery for six months.

For years, Bobby Guffey of Roanoke has been playing the same numbers in an attempt to win the Hoosier Lottery.
