From the beginning the dollar amounts were hypothetical but that doesn't change the fact yesterday, five of the 28 numbers lottoarchitect picked were drawn and several others have matched all five numbers recently. Whether or not they played 98,280 combos and won $250,000 is irrelevant because they reduced the possible combos from 3,901,701 to 98,280. They could have used all 28 numbers on 6 lines to get odds of 16,380 to 1 against matching all five numbers compared to the odds of 650,784 to 1 a $6 QP player got. While he odds of 753,480 to 1 against winning the jackpot are still extremely high, that's nothing compared to the odds of 29,285,286 to 1 they would have by purchasing 6 QPs.
Any group of 28 numbers has a 1 in 39 chance of being drawn and the object here is to reduce that to 1 in 10 or better. Even if you just played one combo, your odds of hitting the jackpot will be much better whether it's once out of every ten drawings or once out of 39. And the odds can never be worse than buying a QP in any drawing.
While other people are discussing how they would spend the winnings, we're actually trying to find better ways to win it.
