Jon D,

Speaking of sucker bets, laying runs on a baseeball underdog is one of the worst. Just another way of turning a winner into a loser.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I think tonight someone with 5+0 will win with the megaplier.

I don't have that option in California, but even if I did, I doubt I'll buy megapliers.  I would rather turn that into additional tickets.

It is always better to have 2 chances instead of one. I started this thread because I was looking at all the 5+0 winners since the changes. I was shocked that the #5 have been drawn 5 times which could have netted some players $5 million dollars. I played 1 ticket with megaplier because I don't want to leave any money on the table if I ever match 5+0.

That sounds like one of my ex-wives talking to her team of lawyers, Win.

Some of them wimmins were downright unfriendly.

I have to say they were all great housekeepers though.

Every one of 'em kept the house.

No megaplier winners last night. 20 players could have won $4 million dollars.

In addition to the jackpot winners, 20 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize: 2 from California, 1 from Delaware, 2 from Florida, 2 from Georgia, 1 from Illinois, 1 from Kentucky, 1 from Maryland, 1 from Michigan, 1 from Nebraska, 2 from New Jersey, 2 from New York, 1 from Ohio, 1 from South Carolina, 1 from Texas, and 1 from West Virginia.

Are these the same places that normally win?

Don't forget the California 2nd prize winners, with no megaplier required to win $2,621,916.

The 2 California winners will each be awarded prizes of $2,621,916 because California awards all prizes in a pari-mutuel formula, which calculates the prize amount based on the number of tickets sold and the number of winners in each prize category.

That pari-mutuel stuff quite often works out pretty good.

Eliminating the two California 5 + 0 winners leaves 18, and that's $18 million paid out instead of $72 million.... $54 million saved. There's no doubt in my mind ther's some execs at Mega Millions going "Told ya."

The odds of winning is very slim so i would much rather take that money and buy extra tickets and increase my chances. If i hit there would be no looking back with regret because more then likely it was probably the extra tickets i invested the money into that enabled me to win. I wonder how many people would have already hit had they played extra tickets with the money they put towards powerplay and megaplier?? For me it's a matter of being happy to hit big verse lessening my chances to win at all in order to win super big.

Oh, me too!  I was annoyed at my neglecting to tick the "Extra" option on my last week's Texas Lottery playslip.  On the Wed. drawing, I got 2 numbers which would have paid $2 if I had done the Extra and on the Sat. drawing I got 3 numbers, paying me three bucks but would have paid $13. Losing 12 bucks is nothing compared to losing 4 million, but it still bothered me.  Other than that ticket, I always play the multiplier and I won $51 this last month because of it. (other than the winnings, I didn't keep a tally on what I had spent, but at least I came close to breaking even.)
