I won't throw money down a rat hole.

I'll help private people out but I'll be dam-ned if I'll give it to a bunch of sleazy, slimey, corrupt politicians.

That's one of the absolute worst things you could do with your money.

No flippin' way, Jose.

Great question noise...An even better one would be If you choose not to help the city on the verge of bankruptcy would you feel bad for the people who would lose jobs, homes, etc? Teachers, cops, firemen all those kinds of people

"...would you feel bad for the people who would lose jobs, homes, etc? Teachers, cops, firemen all those kinds of people"

Not if they voted for the party that always destroys cities, like Detroit for instance.

They got what they voted for, now they can deal with the aftermath.

They voted for corruption, they got corruption, why should anyone else feel bad?

Yes, and I would not be hiding money overseas. It's time people start to believe in their country And only when a war starts.

It's nearly impossible to "hide money overseas" these days, particularly since the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act

I believe in my country, but I also believe about half or more of its citizens are ignorant beyond redemption.

Let's say you lived there most of your life, you know most everyone & vice versa. If you Town or City fell on hard times, would to contribute to keeping them in the black- or would you think it none of your business?

Define " helping out"?- if you won over $150 mil after taxes,  would you mind throwing in up to $10  mil plus to keep the Police, nurses ,firefighters on the job etc.

So you saying there should be a moratorium on statues Coin? What if the City Manager has a blond mullet with an Errol  Flynn moustache?
I would love to see that statue..

            noise-gate,

Nope, never said a moratorium on statues. But it would be insane for a jackpot winner to fund one for an egomaniac local level politician, or any level politician.

Now if it was going to be statue of Carol Doda in her heyday, that's different!

            Scared

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

            Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

no matter how much you gave, it would never be enough. these people are addicted to spending other peoples money. didn't they take a  nice chunk already in state taxes?

i did read about a winner who helped out her town,  helped keep the local school open, you can guess who the locals run to now for more cash  politicians included. always a bad idea, help the real needy not the need to spend your money  crowd.

Being from Detroit, I say, saw it off the state and let Detroit float on down to Toledo Big Smile

Having family in Toledo, I must respectfully object to this plan.  Eek Big Grin

                            It's called personal responsibility.

If you vote for the party that is most well known for corruption because you hope to benefit from that corruption, you have to live with the inevitability of the recompense that always comes back to those who sow discord.

You don't plant weeds and reap cotton.

                            You reap what you sow.
