That's a good idea as they would think twice about asking you for any future favors. I would bump the amount to $100 as that would be significant compared to just $20.

Now back to the OP request- what is the first thing you would BUY if you won the jackpot?

I guess since Ive never had a home without sharing it with family my entire life, I would get myself a new house. And do anything I ever wanted in it without asking either permission or help.

415 mill...I would pay off the 2 bedroom home that the three of us are living in and that is about 2 feet away from the neighbors.  Then buy something more spacious with more distant neighbors. And take the new car on a roadtrip...NY to Vegas to Grand Canyon to CA, then off to HI for more relaxation...

500+ Million? Half a billion? I think they are trying to compete with powerball now! Lol.

i would probably take the annuity amount. Unless, it's better to take cash and have the taxes already out.

I would do very simple things staring off: I'd probably buy a house in someplace with great geography (I met a friend during a visit last year and we spent every morning "hiking" a couple thousand feet in elevation thru the mansions and penthouses of Glendale/Burbank California. The first couple times were hard because it made you feel like a failure in life lol).

I would do the usual, split it amongst relatives and relatives of relatives...but I wouldn't go crazy. And I probably wouldn't even do any giving to charities or relatives of relatives for atleast 6 months to a 1 full year. And it would be a surprise, possibly even given anonymously lol.

i actually would be a bit Greedy, but only to not regret anything later in life. I don't know much about stocks and bonds, so likely the first thing would be to figure out. I would not invest in stocks or a business right away. Why would I? I'd be set for life lol.

...and then keep about half the cash in a secured vault lol. Just in case.

Its a tie for second place.  I am torn between a pop tart and a coke.

But my favorite thing to buy, in first place would be an election.

I think TN isn't bad at all. There are many beautiful, well laid out areas such as Brentwood, Franklin and a wide range of waterfront communities just south of Knoxville.  Having a nice home in a private community in Palm Beach, Florida would be my choice.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.
