5th Update for Mega Million Lottery Pool Game 28

Mega Millions Lottery Pool - Game 28

Today's Quote

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self.

-Aldous Huxley

I’m sorry that I did not get a newsletter out Wednesday.  I’ve been sick all week, and just got better yesterday. Today is my only day off, so all the things that were not done during the week, must be done in these 24 hours.

Now, I have done two newsletters already for both my Die Hard Games, and I checked your tickets today.  (There is no good news here.)  I am on my 7th load of laundry.  Four are already put up, two are in the dryer and the last one is in the washer.  (I got up at 4:30 a.m.)

Here are the numbers from last two drawings:

 10/31/2006  5,34,40,45,46  Mega Ball = 21

 11/03/2006  8,10,22,25,55  Mega Ball = 22

I knew we had won nothing on Halloween, but was surprised we won nothing last night.  (I just knew we won something, because I knew we had the Mega Ball 22 – Boy was I wrong.  We did NOT have Mega Ball 22.)

The good news is that no one won the Jack Pot on both day, and now the new Jack Pot amount for this Tuesday is worth $52 Million.  The estimated cash value of this jackpot is $30,534,348.

I get the Cash Value from: www.ohiolottery.com. I take that figure and divide it by 60 (# of Shares).  Here is want you would get before any attorney fees, taxes or tithes:

We have through five drawings and won on the first three drawings.  This is our half way point in the game.

I would not hurt my feelings if we didn’t win until the last draw.  The Cash Option is at $30 Million, and I would like to see the Cash Option at or over $60 Million, so I could give everyone, who purchased one share to have $1 Million.  Okay, so you know my prayers.

This next game is scheduled to open on Friday, November 24th, 2006.  That is the day after Thanksgiving.  I will NOT be at work on Thanksgiving or that Friday (Day after Thanksgiving) or that Saturday.  I’m not even sure about Sunday.

So if you want to play in this next game, you need to have your money to me no later than November 22nd, 2006.  I have decided to buy the tickets on Thanksgiving and get out the newsletter the same day.

For those of you who work at Citi, you only have 1 more paycheck to get in on the next game:  November 15th, 2006.

I think that I told you that I was having problems getting my mail and my new Post Office Box, that problem has been fixed.  I am still missing a check from Mary Stewart, but I’m not certain which Post Office she mailed it to, and I think both Juanita and Grant has mailed checks also, but I did not pick up mail this week (remember I had been sick, and it was all I could do to get to work.)

Now when I leave the house today, I plan on swinging by the Post Office, so I will e-mail everyone who send me money, let you know that I have it, if I get it.  And the membership list will be updated for the next update.

I need to tell you about two things:  1) Many of you know that I run Die Hard Multi-Lottery Pool.  That game is played a little differently than Mega.  In it we play Cash Five, Texas Two-Step, Lotto Texas, Mega Million and Powerball.  Tonight Game IX has their last drawing in PowerBall and if they win nothing, the game will close.  Game X will not end until later this month.

You know in this game, you can play one game, then not in the next game.  Each game is separated from the other.  In Die Hard, I don’t start a new game each month.  The same members pay their $10.00 by the end of the month. As long as everyone pays, the game remains closed and we keep playing.  I just use their dues to buy them more tickets.

This game has always been small, because getting any number of people who want to give you $120 a year, is hard.  But, I always let people know when I have openings.

Right now Die Hard Multi-Lottery Pool – Game X has 13 members and most of their tickets are expiring this week.  (Expect for PowerBall). I have three members who have not paid, and I know for certain two of those three will pay me.  I have accepted my mother in this next game; she also plays in Mega Million Lottery Pool, too.

Now if you want to play in Die Hard, remember you have to pay $10.00 every month and it’s due by the last day of the month.  (If someone doesn’t pay, then and only then, do I start a new edition of Die Hard.

If you should want to play in another pool of mine, you’re welcome.  This is your official noticed that I have openings.  But, you will need to pay $10.00 for the Oct Dues, and pay $10.00 for November dues.  Here is why:  I already have 11 members who have paid their dues for October, and that money will be used in Game XI.

Game X will have two Power Ball tickets that expire on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  I will have no time to start a new game after that Saturday, because I work Sunday thru Thursday (normally).  So I will launch Die Hard Multi-Lottery Pool on Thanksgiving 2006.  (This is the same day I start the New Mega Million Game.)

2) I have two members ask me why I don’t have a Lotto Texas Lottery Pool.  Well, I haven’t started one because the Lotto Texas doesn’t ever get that big.  “Well, wouldn’t it be easier to win?” was one question I was asked.

Okay I had to laugh at that one, because guys and gals, there is NO Lottery easy to win.  Let me tell you a story:

Die Hard Multi-Lottery Pool 1st Group

Formed on Christmas Eve December 24th, 2004 – Game ended on Sunday March 22nd, 2005

Before I had the game you see above, Mary Stewart asks why I didn’t do a small pool for Texas Two-Step.  So, I started one and everyone paid $5.00.  So we played and we won nothing.  But, it did give me the idea to start Die Hard, so was formed on Christmas Day 2004.

Now every time I start a pool, I make a predication that it will fizzle out.  I have been wrong every time, they only get bigger.  Mega is starting on her 31st month, and Die Hard is going on two years old.  So I had to think and pray about starting a third Lotto Pool.

Die Hard plays all the Texas Games, and we do good in Cash Five and we have done well enough in Texas Two-Step, we have won several times in Mega Million, and believe it or not we have won more times in Power Ball.  But, God as my witness, we have never won a dime in Lotto Texas!  Not one dime.

Now to be honest, I seldom buy more than one or two lines.  There was one time in Die Hard where someone had won both Mega and Power Ball, and Lotto Texas was the highest in the nation, so I pour money into Lotto Texas.  No we won nothing.

The pay out on Lotto Texas is not good:

Since, I don’t have a life, I seldom go out to eat or go to the movies, I thought “What the hell, I will do it if there is interest in the game.”

So I’m prepared to launch the 1st edition of Lotto Texas Lottery Pool.  I will start this game on Thanksgiving and it will be run identical to my existing Mega Million club.  I will buy 10 draw tickets, and each game will last one month.

If I had a club today, the Jack Pot is at $15 Million.  The Cash Option is at $9 Million.  If I had 10 members playing we each would get $900,000.00.

Someone generally wins this at $32 to $36 Million.  Lotto Texas no longer has a bonus ball, and Jack Pots start at $4 Million.  They usually go up $1 Million after every drawing.

If you would like to be in the 1st Edition of Lotto Texas, just give me $10 by 11/22/2006.  Remember all my games are separate from each other and all on voluntary and optional, you don’t have feel obligated to play in any of my games.

I just wanted to give you a full disclosure as to what I’m playing.  I don’t want you reading somewhere where I won the Lotto Texas in a group and you say to me, “If you had told me, I would have played.”  You’ve been told.

Now if you one of those people who have money with me on future games (and some of you pay in really far in advance) you can, if you desire to move some of you cash to this new game, Lotto Texas Lottery Pool.

Just give me advance notice, before buying the tickets.

Undercover Clergy

A minister, a priest and a rabbi went for a hike one day. It was very hot. They were sweating and exhausted when they came upon a small lake. Since it was fairly secluded, they took off all their clothes and jumped in the water.

Feeling refreshed, the trio decided to pick a few berries while enjoying their "freedom." As they were crossing an open area, who should come along but a group of ladies from town. Unable to get to their clothes in time, the minister and the priest covered their privates and the rabbi covered his face while they ran for cover.

After the ladies had left and the men got their clothes back on, the minister and the priest asked the rabbi why he covered his face rather than his privates. The rabbi replied, "I don't know about you, but in MY congregation, it's my face they would recognize."

Please everyone have a good week!

Mega Million Lottery Pool Game 28 - 4th Update

Here are the numbers from last night’s drawing:

15 22 26 30 31  Mega Ball 31

Again, we had the Mega Ball, 31, so we won again:

Since this is a megaplied game we won $2.00 x 4 = $8.00.

With the $23 dollars we have in the bank, adding $8.00 makes our total wins $31.00.  So far we have won on every drawing.

I jack pot is not high enough to entice me to buy the group more tickets, plus I have been sick since Friday, so I didn’t feel like getting out to get any tickets.  Okay, if the Cash Option was worth $78 Million, I might have felt better.

The new Jack Pot amount for this Wednesday is worth $32 Million.  The estimated cash value of this jackpot is $18,757,312.00.

I get the Cash Value from: www.ohiolottery.com. I take that figure and divide it by 60 (# of Shares).  Here is want you would get before any attorney fees, taxes or tithes:

I told you that I would give you an update a membership list with this update.  Remember there were two ½ shares unsold, ($10.00).  I’ve talked with Mary Stewart and she told me that she mailed me several weeks ago a $10.00 check.  So I’ve sold those two ½ shares to her.  The corrected membership is attached, but like I told you, neither the shares nor the dollar amount changed.

I talked with the Post Office yesterday.  I found that I was getting no mail at my new Post Office Box.  Every time I opened it, I found a cardboard backing preventing me from receiving mail.  The clerk who helped me, didn’t understand why my name was not put on the box the day I purchased it.  I should be getting mail now, but check today and had nothing.

We have three drawings in this game, and won something on all three, so I’m please.  I’m more please that no one has won the Jack Pot and it’s going up.

This next game is scheduled to open on Friday, November 24th, 2006.  That is the day after Thanksgiving.  I will NOT be at work on Thanksgiving or that Friday (Day after Thanksgiving) or that Saturday.  I’m not even sure about Sunday.

For those of you who work at Citi, you only have 2 more paychecks to get in on the next game:  October 31st and November 15th, 2006.

I’m attaching the Membership list for this game, I intended to send it to you in my last update, but don’t think that I did.  My two ½ shares went to Mary L. Stewart.

I’m attaching Game 29’s Membership list as a separated file.  I already have 16 members with $185 collected.

Native American Jew

A young Jewish man calls his mother and says, "Mom, I'm bringing home a wonderful woman I want to marry. She's a Native American and her name is Shooting Star."

"How nice," says his mother." And I have an Indian name too," he says. "It's Running Deer and I want you to call me that from now on."

“How nice," says his mother.

"You should have an Indian name too, Mom," he says.

"I already do," she says. "It's Sitting Shiva."

I talked with Grant today; in fact we had lunch together.  He advises me that he took all my mail from my old Post Office Box and re-mailed it to my new Post Office Box.  As of today, I have gotten no mail at my new Post Office Box.  I find that strange, especially, when I open my box, I see a card board that is blocking any mail from being delivered.  I think the people in the back are unaware that that box has been sold.

I tried to talk with the people at the Post Office about it, but they were busy, and Grant was waiting from me in the car.  My plans are to get up early in the morning, and visit the Post Office, when they open at 8:30 a.m. and hopefully take care of the problem before going to work.

We have two drawings in this game, and won something on both, so I’m please.  I’m more please that no one has won the Jack Pot and it’s going up.

Superstitions

haircutSuperstitions, like   most folklore, are sometimes useful, sometimes ridiculous, but always   interesting. For example, did you know that you are in luck if a buzzard   lands on your house on a Monday-you'll receive money soon. But don't cross a   river on Monday -- that's unlucky. To avoid toothaches, never wash on a   Tuesday. And to ensure a long life, don't rub soap on your skin on a Friday   or get a haircut in March. But whatever you do, never sneeze on a Sunday, or   the Devil will be with you all week. But do thank your lucky stars once in a   while -- that's a sign of good fortune.

Sincerely,
   The Old Farmer's Almanac

*THE GOOD DEED*

There was a fellow who worked for the Post Office, whose job it was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day a letter came to his desk, addressed in a shaky handwriting, to God.

He thought, "Oh boy, better open this one and see what it's all about."

The letter read:

"Dear God,

I am an 83 year old widow living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had $100.00 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension check. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with. I have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me?"

The postal worker was touched, and went around showing the letter to all the others. Each of them dug into his wallet and came up with a few dollars.

By the time he made the rounds, he had collected $96.00, which they put into an envelope and sent over to the lady. The rest of the day, all the workers felt the warm glow of the kind thing they had done.

Christmas came and went. A few days later another letter addressed to God came from the old lady. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read:

"Dear God,

How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, there was $4 missing. I think it must have been those thieving guys at the Post Office.”

We got $15 dollars on our first draw.  That this is a Megaplied Game, so this translates for me as 1 number for 7 draws:  7 x 2 = $14.00, and that would leave $1.00 in our bank.  Well, this game just got started; we still have 9 more draws on our tickets.  I hate to have tickets expire, while the Jack Pot is going up.  I would have rather spend our money and have our tickets expire together (when the Jack Pot is higher).  So I will hold on to our $15 dollars till later in the game.

The new Jack Pot amount for next Tuesday is worth $18 Million.  The estimated cash value of this jackpot is $9,269,984.  That figure comes from www.ohiolottery.com.

I realize that this game is only one day old, and that we have nine more draws.  But, time passes by quickly.  It seems only a few months ago that I opened Mega Million Lottery Pool with seven members.  Actually it was about 30 months ago.

A Man Visits a Fortune Teller. . .

A man at the State Fair saw a fortune teller's tent. Thinking it would be good for a laugh; he went inside and sat down.

"Ah...," said the woman as she gazed into her crystal ball. "I see you are the father of three children."

"That's what you think," said the man scornfully. "I'm the father of two children."

The psychic grinned and said, "That's what you think!"

Mega Million Lottery Pool - Game 28

Welcome to the 28th edition of the Mega Million Lottery Pool.

In my last game (Game 27) I had 57 Members with $640.00 collected. 64 Shares being sold.

I lost 14 people.  Only 2 of the 14 told me they were not playing in the next game.  12 of the 14 assured me they would mail me a check or get the money to me before the ending date.

43 people who played in Game 27 are playing in Game 28.  That is a 78% retention rate.  What that means if you play with me in this game, there is a 78% chance you will play in my next game.

I did get 8 new members, 2 rejoins, and I purchased two ½ shares for a pending sale.  (We had $590.00, so with two ½ shares purchase, I was able to spend $600.00 in tickets.)

Now by next Tuesday, I will know if the two people who were interested will pay me, and the Membership List will be updated.  If they are not, then I will be purchasing the shares.  Either way the Membership will be update, but the money and shares will NOT change.

Your game starts tonight, and you have 30 tickets all megaplied. I used many of the numbers from our last game, that didn’t win, and Ms. Tiffany T. Treadway-Currey supplied me with two lines.  Yes, you can give me numbers to play.

You have 30 numbers ($600.00) that are good from Friday, October 20, 2006 to Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

As long as our winnings are $599 or less, then I can pick up the money and buy us more tickets.  I reserve the right to Cash Out of any game, but my games are so large now that has never happened.  We would have win $600 or more for me to Cash Out.

Now with are winnings I can either buy us tickets that will expire with our existing tickets (November 21st), or I can buy us 10 draws to extend the game.  While the Jack Pot is small, I may extend the game.  If the Jack Pot gets large, I my buy us more tickets with less draws.

What I look for is Cash Option Value of $60 Million.  We have 60 shares sold, so those members who purchase 1 share would get $1 Million.  That is a lot of money.

You may or may not know that the $55 Million was won on Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 to some one in Washington.  So, this game is starting from the bottom.  The current Jack Pot is worth $12 Million, the Cash Option (I get this from www.ohiolottery.com) is worth $6,972,696.00.  All figures you see below are before any attorney fees, taxes, or tithes:

I usually don’t put quotes or jokes on the fist newsletter.  The first newsletter is so large; I have to cut down where I can. Now, I don’t really want us to win tonight, nor do I want anyone else to win.  I want the Jack Pot to get big.  But, I kind of hope we win $150.00 with the Mega Ball being 3 = $350.00!

Good Luck, and thanks for playing.

I purchased these tickets in Texas, so they must be redeemed in Texas.  This is a multi-state lottery, so there are other claim centers in the United States.  But, if the ticket is purchase in one state (Texas) it must be claimed in that state (Texas).  Therefore I have to follow all the rules of Texas.  You can check these rules at www.txlottery.org.

3. This game will start on Friday October 20, 2006. The original tickets will expire after the drawing on November 21, 2006.  The same numbers you play in first drawing will the same numbers you will have until the end of the game.

4. You should always get at least one update from me weekly.  If you have e-mail that is how you will always hear from me.  If you don’t have an e-mail account, I will give you paper copies. (This does cost me, so there is a charge of $5.00 to receive paper copies.)

5. In the event we are lucky (blessed) enough to win the Jack Pot, do not expect to get your money the next day.  It doesn’t work that way.  In Texas only one person (or entity) and signed the back of the ticket.  Right now all we have is Mega Million Lottery Pool – Game 28 and that is not a legal entity.  So if we win, please be patient with me as I get our ducks line up, I don’t want to make any mistakes in collecting our money.

6. Texas is the only state that has the Megaplier.  With Megapling our numbers we will always win 2, 3 or 4 times any win we have except the Jack Pot.  So if we should win say $40, and the Mega Ball is 4, we would win $160.00. I have elected to let any game be a mixed game.  So on any winnings, I can and may purchase for you a Megaplied Ticket or not.  Remember Megapling Tickets costs us twice as much.

7. The playing in the Lotto Pool is completely voluntary and optional.  No one should feel like that “owe” me any money.  It will cost you at least $5.00 to play in my pool, but you don’t have to play the Lottery at all.  Just because you are in Game 28, doesn’t mean you have play with me in Game 29 or Game 30.  I can NOT remind you of when your money is due.  Because you don’t owe me any money.  Your newsletters tell every week when the next game is due.  I do not penalize anyone for paying early.  At the end of each update I will include the date you need to pay if you want to play again.  I don’t want to forget anyone when collecting dues, but neither do I want to be a “collector”.  I do that for a living now.

I’m sorry to tell you, that you won nothing in last night’s game.  I will tell you that someone won in Washington won the Jack Pot.

Now you needed to win something in last night’s drawing for me to continue this game.  And since you didn’t, Mega Million Lottery Pool Game 27 is over.

You still have on more day to join Mega Million Lottery Pool Game 28.

Mega Million Lottery Pool – Game 28– $10.00 per share.

Start Date is Friday October 20th, 2006

Right now I have $560.00 collected with 50 Members.  I have about 3 commitments for tomorrow and I still need to check my Post Office Box to see if any other out of state members have mail me money.

Facts about Texas

Nobody asked for these, but here are some little known Texas facts

...interesting!

Beaumont TX to El Paso, TX:  742 miles

Beaumont, TX to Chicago, IL:  770 miles

El Paso is closer to California than to Dallas

World's first rodeo was in Pecos .... July 4, 1883.

The Flagship Hotel in Galveston is the only hotel in North America built over water.

The Heisman Trophy was named after John William Heisman who was the first full time coach for Rice University in Houston.

Jalapeno jelly originated in Lake Jackson in 1978.

One of the worst natural disaster in U.S. history was in 1900 caused by a hurricane in which over 8000 lives were lost on Galveston Island.

The first word spoken from the moon, July 20, 1969, was "Houston."

King Ranch is larger than Rhode Island (Bill Greene flew over it in 1955 zooming cattle!)

Tropical Storm Claudette had a US. rainfall record of 43" in 24 hours around Alvin July 1979.

Texas is the only state to enter the U.S. by TREATY, instead of by annexation.  (This allows the Texas flag to fly at the same height as the flag.)

Caddo Lake is the only natural lake in the state.

Dr Pepper was invented in Waco in 1885.  There is no period after Dr in Dr Pepper.

The Capitol Dome in Austin is the only dome in the U.S. which is taller than the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. (by 7 feet).

The name Texas comes from the Hasini Indian word "tejas" meaning friends.

Tejas is not Spanish for Texas.

The State animal is the Armadillo.  (An interesting bit of trivia about the armadillo is they always have four babies!  They have one egg which splits into four and they either have four males or four females.

(Well, I thought it was interesting any- way!)

The first domed stadium in the U.S. was the Astrodome in Houston.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - TEXAS STYLE

People here in Texas have trouble with all those shalls and shall nots in the 10 Commandments. Folks here just aren't used to talking in those terms.

So, some folks out in west Texas got together and translated the "King James" into "King Ranch" language:

Cowboy’s Ten Commandments

Cowboy's Ten Commandments posted on The wall at Cross Trails Church, in Fairlie, Texas.

(1)  Just one God.

(2)  Honor yer Ma & Pa.

(3)  No telling tales or gossipin'.

11th Update for Mega Million Lottery Pool Game 27

Today’s Quote

It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it.

-
Lena Horne

I got this e-mail awhile back from Jimmy, and thought I would share it with you:

You can all ways be lucky.

I told you about this a while back.  Luck comes to anyone who will feed her I guess.

Moses Bittok became a U.S. citizen and a millionaire last week, all in one day.

Bittok, 40, a native of Kenya, came to the United States in 1989. He became a citizen Friday morning during a naturalization ceremony in Des Moines.

That night, he discovered he had won a $1.89 million jackpot in the multistate Hot Lotto game.

"I guess only in America," Bittok joked earlier this week at the Iowa Lottery headquarters. He was accompanied by his wife, Leonida, and their 4-year-old daughter, Mindy.

Bittok has been a correctional officer at the state women's prison in Mitchellville, Iowa, for 81/2 years.

He and his wife have opted to take the jackpot in annual payments of $75,600 for the next 25 years, $52,920 per year after taxes.

The couple said they have no special plans for spending the extra money, and Bittok said he would continue working full time. But they do plan to establish a college fund for their daughter.

"My daughter is No. 1. I don't want to squander this. I want to make sure ... that she goes to college," he said.

The Children of Israel

"Mr. Goldblatt," announced little Joey, "there's something I can't figure out."

"What's that, Joey?" asked Goldblatt.

"Well, according to the Bible, the Children of Israel crossed the
Red Sea, right?"

"Right."

"And the Children of Israel beat up the Phillistines, right?"

"Er, right."

"And the Children of Israel built the Temple, right?"

"Again you're right."

"And the Children of Israel fought the Egyptians, and the Children of Israel fought the Romans, and the Children of Israel were always doing something important, right?"

"All that is right, too," agreed Goldblatt. "So what's your question?"

"What were all the grown-ups doing?"

And here is our last ticket (unless we win on Tuesday October 17th, 2006)

I hit the $500.00 mark with 42 members.  For those of you who work with me, you still have between now and Thursday, October 16th, 2006 to pay me.  That is assuming you want to play in this next game.

I have 5 new members, including one man from Ontario, California and one woman from Newcornerstown, Ohio

I have someone from Kansas and someone from San Antonia, Texas that may come on board.

Who Should Make the Coffee?

A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning.

The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee."

The husband said, "You are in charge of the cooking around here so you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee."

Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides it says in the Bible that the man should do the coffee."

Husband replies, "I can't believe that! Show me."

So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says, "HEBREWS."

Me being pleased with myself, didn't last long.  You had $1.00 in your bank, and last night you won $13.00.  You have 3 more draws in this game, so you can see where my problem started.  I wasn't able to spend $13.00.

Over breakfast this morning, I once again studied the numbers, and I thought (silly me) we could get three lines for the next three draws.

When I purchased your ticket, I was only charged $9.00.  I was stunned, because I had worked an hour on spending $12.00.  I didn't know what I had done wrong.

So the ticket you have is NOT a Megaplied Ticket.  Sorry. This does leave your with $4.00 in your bank.

Hymns By Word Association

A minister decided to do something a little different one Sunday morning.

He said, "Today, in church, I am going to say a single word and you are going to help me preach.  "Whatever single word I say, I want you to sing whatever hymn comes to your mind.

The pastor shouted out, "Cross!" Immediately the congregation started singing, in unison, "The Old Rugged Cross."

The pastor hollered out, "Grace!" The congregation began to sing "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound..."

The pastor said, "Power." The congregation sang "There Is Power in the Blood."

The Pastor said, "Sex." The congregation fell in total silence. Everyone was in shock.

They all nervously began to look around at each other, afraid to say anything.

Then all of a sudden, way from in the back of the church, a little old 87-year-old grandmother stood up and began to sing "Precious Memories."

It is better to have less if it is with peace of mind than to have abundant wealth but with a tormented spirit.

I copied this from www.megamillions.com:

ONE MEGA MILLIONS TICKET WINS ESTIMATED $15 MILLION JACKPOT; Ticket Sold In New Jersey Matches All Six Numbers To Win

One ticket matched all six Mega Millions numbers in the Tuesday, September 26, 2006 drawing, and now players are checking their tickets to see who won the estimated $15 million jackpot. The jackpot-winning ticket, which was purchased in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, matched the numbers 3-6-38-42-45 and the Mega Ball number 30.

But that certainly wasn't the only winner in Tuesday's drawing. A total of 352,317 tickets won Mega Millions prizes. Here is the complete breakdown of prizes:

1 ticket matched all 6 numbers for the JACKPOT!
4 tickets matched 5 numbers for $250,000
22 tickets matched 4 numbers + the Mega Ball for $10,000
812 tickets matched 4 numbers for $150
957 tickets matched 3 numbers + the Mega Ball for $150
16,422 tickets matched 2 numbers + the Mega Ball for $10
43,843 tickets matched 3 numbers for $7
100,633 tickets matched 1 number + the Mega Ball for $3
189,623 tickets matched the Mega Ball for $2

Four tickets came within just one number of winning it all. Each of them won $250,000 by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Illinois (1), New   Jersey (2) and New York (1).

The jackpot for the Friday, September 29, 2006 Mega Millions drawing is $12 million.

No one won the Jack Pot of $12 Million last night, so the Jack Pot rose.

The next drawing is on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006 is worth $15 Million again! The estimated cash value of this jackpot is $8,807,985

Well, we still keep winning.

Now I have a new out of state member who is mailing me money this week.  I may have to go ahead and start Game 28 on October 6th, 2006 as planned.  Now, if he or she doesn't mind, I may wait until after this game ends to start the next game, in hopes the Jack Pot will be larger.

To be on the safe side you should pay me this week, if you want to play in the next game.

Since we have megaplied, our $3.00 equals $12.00, the Megaplier was 4X.
We now have $34.00 in our bank.

No one won the Jack Pot on Friday Night's drawing, the Jack Pot rose to $15 Million.  So for Tuesday Mega is $15 Million and PowerBall is $15 Million for their Wednesday drawing.  Someone in Iowa won the Jack Pot for PowerBall.

Since being a Lottery Pool Host for over 2 years now, I have found that the People of Ohio win more Mega Million Jack Pots than any other state.  But with PowerBall in seems Iowa has more wins than any other state.  So if you want to win a Jack Pot in either Mega or PowerBall, you'll need to move to either Iowa or Ohio.

In Tuesday Night's drawing, the estimated cash value of this jackpot is $8,891,520.00.

This group has 57 Members, with 64 shares being sold.

Right now I think I will set the next game for Friday October 6th, 2006.

Growing OLDER -- Fender Skirts

What a great blast from the past! I haven't thought about fender skirts in years. When I was a kid, I considered it such a funny term, made me think of a car in a dress. Thinking about fender skirts started me thinking about other words that quietly disappear from our language with hardly a notice.

Like "curb feelers" and "steering knobs." Since I'd been thinking of cars, my mind naturally went that direction first. Any kids will probably have to find some elderly person over 50 to explain some of these terms to you.

Remember "Continental kits?" They were rear bumper extenders and spare tire covers that were supposed to make any car as cool as a Lincoln Continental.

When did we quit calling them "emergency brakes?" At some point "parking brake" became the proper term. But I miss the hint of drama that went with "emergency brake."

I'm sad, too, that almost all the old folks are gone who would call the accelerator the "foot feed."

Here's a phrase I heard all the time in my youth but never anymore-"store-bought." Of course, just about everything is store-bought these days. But once it was bragging material to have a store-bought dress or a store-bought bag of candy.

"Coast to coast" is a phrase that once held all sorts of excitement and now means almost nothing. Now we take the term "worldwide" for granted. This floors me.

On a smaller scale, "wall-to-wall" was once a magical term in our homes. In the '50s, everyone covered their hardwood floors with, wow, wall-to-wall carpeting! Today, everyone replaces their wall-to-wall carpeting with hardwood floors. Go figure.

When's the last time you heard the quaint phrase "in a family way?" It's hard to imagine that the word "pregnant" was once considered a little too graphic, a little too clinical for use in polite company. So we had all that talk about stork visits and "being in a family way" or simply expecting."

Apparently "brassiere" is a word no longer in usage. I said it the other day and my daughter cracked up. I guess it's just "bra" now. "Unmentionables" probably wouldn't be understood at all.

It's hard to recall that this word was once said in a whisper -"divorce." And no one is called a "divorcee" anymore.  Certainly not a "gay divorcee." Come to think of it, "confirmed bachelors" and "career girls" are long gone, too.

Most of these words go back to the '50s, but here's a pure-'60s word I came across the other day - "rat fink." Ooh, what a nasty put-down!

Here's a word I miss - "percolator." That was just a fun word to say. And what was it replaced with? "Coffeemaker." How dull. Mr. Coffee, I blame you for this.

I miss those made-up marketing words that were meant to sound so modern and now sound so retro. Words like DynaFlow" and "ElectraLuxe." Introducing the 1963 Admiral TV, now with "SpectraVision!"

Food for thought - Was there a telethon that wiped out lumbago? Nobody complains of that anymore. Maybe that's what castor oil cured, because I never hear mothers threatening their kids with castor oil anymore.

Some words aren't gone, but are definitely on the endangered list. The one that grieves me most - "supper." Now everybody says "dinner". Save a great word. Invite someone to "supper. Discuss fender skirts.
