Took A Look At The News This Morning.

Well, it appears that John Roberts will become Chief Justice of the Supreme Courtthe second that he is confirmed.  I think that is bull crap, and that it will result in more vacancies on the Supreme Court.  Why couldn't Bush have picked Antolin Scalia or Clarence Thomas?  They actually have experience on the Supreme Court, and they've been known to be conservative?  Seriously, John Roberts will do fine as an Associate Justice, but he is not ready to be Chief Justice.  Heck, something might come up that could derail his attempt to be confirmed.

Training So Far

Training has been a lot better than last year so far.  There are much fewer lectures, and even though I have to do training tomorrow, most of my stuff is done already.  I'm actually motivated to get my stuff done before the last minute this year.  Most of my RCRs (Room Condition Reports) are done.  I have two more rooms to inspect, and then it's copying them.  After that, it's just down to preparing for opening weekend.

Back at RA Training.

I'm back for year #2 of RA training at Ohio University.  One more year and then I'm officially qualified to pump gas.  Anyway, this year's training seems a bit different from last year's training.  There's less lectures, and more in-hall prep. time, which is very good, considering I ran it down to the wire with my stuff last year.  Anyway, I have to get back to more training now.

Backache.

My back has been bothering me for the past few days.  I've been taking painkillers ever since, but they are doing nothing to help.  I think it's the matresses in my grandpa's house.  I swear he hasn't changes them since the second world war.  I'm also constipated.  I have a feeling those are connected somehow.

Other People's Blogs.

I've been reading the blogs of other people, and if this is everyone's area to be off-topic, how come everyone makes predictions on their blogs?

Dance Dance Revolution Nationals.

Today was quite good, but also quite bad.

I went to the arcade to play Dance Dance Revolution on my day off.  I spent about $5 playing the game, and towards the end, someone came to me and asked me if I wanted to play in the national championship, to be held soon.  Unfortunately, I have to work on that day, and cannot make it.  The invite is still flattering though

Puff the Magic Dragon

Tonight's shoot was one of the better ones for me. I was on camera, and I got to meet Peter Yarrow of Peter Paul and Mary. It was fun, except for when he went into the shot and started dancing with the talent. It was tought to follow them with the camera, but that's live TV for you. Anything can happen

After the shoot, I made the mistake of going into the men's room.  Let's just say that the smell of the bathroom brought me back to the days of SAing on South Green.

My Internship

My internship with a PBS affiliate, which was brought to me by the corporation for publice broadcasting and viewers like you, is going alright.  I'm helping my boss answer such difficult questions as "How do yomake room on a floppy disk?" and "What's a jump drive?"  Anyway, as much as I like it at the station, I can't wait to get the heck out of the capital region  of NY.

Finally Cleaned Up From The Storm.

I haven't updated this in a while, so I figured I should.

The station has had me busting my butt off these past few weeks.  Every time someone asks me if I thought something through I tell them that I'm an intern and I don't get paid to think.  Heck, I don't get paid to do anything there.

Anyway, yesterday was a great day.  I finally got all the wood cleared from the July 1st storm, and earned a heck of a lot of money for doing it.

Really Stormy Weather.

I got permission from my boss to go home early today so I wouldn't have had to drive home in the huge storm.  That turned out to be a stupid idea because I still had to drive through the storm, and to make things worse, the rain temporarily stopped when I would have left work.  Anyway, I got back to my grandpa's house only to be drenched with rain and pelted with hail on the walk in, and to make things even worse, my grandpa locked the door, so as I was trying to open the door, my grandpa came toward the door and stopped.  I was screaming "Open the f***ing door!  Open the f***ing door!".  He eventually did and I got changed.  We later went into his backyard to find trees uprooted and down and debris everywhere.  We think a tornado may have touched down in his backyard and we never noticed it.  It sounds possible since my grandpa's backyard is about an acre of land.

Up in Schenectady, NY

Well, my internship is undeway, and guess what one of the people I work with does on the side.  He directs the New York Lottery drawings.  I'm not kidding.  This guy knows Yolanda Vega.  He explained to me why New York needed that turntable for their numbers and win 4 drawings, and hoe expensive the take 5 and lotto drawings are, and that they actually use a ball machine for the pick 10 drawings.  someone revolves it and it spits out 10 numbers on one side, and 10 on the other side.  He showed me fotage of the 9/11/02 drawing, and told me that the day taht there were 2 top prize winners on the pick 10 they checked everything to make sure it wasn't a fix.  I learned a lot of secrets about the New York Lottery (but none on why Lotto only pays out 38-40%), especially where the money really goes to (it's not always educaton).

Self-Service Lottery Terminal

I tried the PA Lottery's self-service lottery terminal back on Monday.  I gotta admit that they are really cool, even though they take jobs away.  The ticket printed out fine, which is a huge advantage.  The ticket looked a little different from a tcket printed out from a reglar machine, but it was a winner, so we'll just have to wait and see if I got screwed or not.

End of the Year

This finals week, I wish I could say I've spent most of my time studying, but since one of my finals was on Monday, and I knew all the information for my history final, I spent most of my time checking residents out of their rooms.  It is bad because from the hors of 10 AM until 10 PM so they can ask me to check them out at any time, unless I am taking a final, but at least I only have 2 more days until I'm out of Washington Hall and home for my week of Summer vacation before my internship.  At least next year I'm going to be an RA in Perkins Hall, the substance-free building, and I'm on the first floor for once.

I Saw Star Wars Today.

George Lucas seriously deserves some huge kudos for the latest Star Wars movie.  It showed that he isn't just doing it for the money.  it really is good, and by that I mean Oscar Best Picture good.  The only bad part was the fact that because I've seen the other 5 films, I could figure out the entire plot within the first 15 minutes of the movie.

I was really happy not just because I got to see the film, but also because I was out of Athens for the first time all quarter for more than a few minutes, and it felt great getting the relaxation.
