Why is this a story? Sooner than later he'll be serving time and they'll be no need to bail him out. Plus she'll get her bond money back save court fees.

Her big time loser of a boyfriend must have a magical wand because with only a fraction of that money she could have rented herself a gigolo that could service her or read her bedtime stories or whatever this loser of a boyfriend does to make her want to keep him around. You would think that with all those millions that she could or should have a massive amount of guys who would line up around city blockS to be with her but then again there is no cure for stupidity.  Like David Edwards she will burn through all her money but the difference between her and David is that she will live a lot longer to regret it.  David died in late 2013 after hitting the winning lottery numbers along with two other winners so they split the jackpot and got $41 million before taxes then walking with $27 million each in late 2001 which means that David managed to live 12 years until he died. Marie Holmes was 26 when she won so even if you add only 12 years she would be only 38 years old which means she will have a very, very long time to think about how she blew it all.  The internet articles say that she received $88 million after taxes. That is a heck of a lot of money but I'm guessing like the Lottery Post article says that her boyfriend is probably scheming a way he can get her money.  Marriage seems like the easiest way assuming she doesn't make him sign a prenup.  Of course it depends on the laws of the state they live in as to what her criminal loser boyfriend will get if he marries her then attempts to divorce her as to how much he can take from her. She seems so dumb that she would simply marry him and not even get a prenup. Who knows maybe he will hold a gun to her and force her to marry him and she would probably tell him that the gun is not necessary. Her stupidity probably knows no bounds judging from her record thus far.  Let us hope and pray for this woman that she will see the light and get rid of her loser boyfriend, setup her education trusts for her children and invest the monies and live off of the interest. God help this woman.

She should try to get legal assistance.  Because it seems interesting that he's arrested like every 4 to five months and his bail is always over a million.  I'm just saying

Somebody needs to look at that.

Do NOT do that to me while I'm taking a sip of tea!

Those kids will turn out all right, I reckon.  Tartar will become a pro bass fisherman (or a dentist), Hollandaise will be a tourist guide in Amsterdam (or a chef) and Mole will become a CIA deep undercover agent (Or a priest...Holy Mole!)

Lol I almost added something similar but had Hollandaise going to cooking school in Paris.

I am sure many of her friends and family members have told her that but apparently that 4 letter word that starts with a d has totally screwed her. Excuse the pun !!   Evil Smile

Tragic. I hope she can turn this around.  That being said the funniest line in this article was "he is allowed to go to work."  Really? As a drug dealer? Lol.

One good thing about this, is that she is gaining interest on all the rest of her money...so it may not b much of a big loss to her.  She did great by not splurgin millions on a house.  I wonder how many of us would spend millions on useless things f we won.  Would we listen to family and friends?  I would probably be weak and spoil close friends with new cars and paying limited debt.

Not defending what type of person she is spending her $$$$$$ on, but feom $88mil and gaining interest on at least $85mil of it gives her back about $3mil a year....We are only hearing about the bad and have no idea where the rest f it is.  When we are ready to cut ties, we do.  In due time, in due time...hopefully it will be an upgrade.

When I saw Marie Holmes jumping and shouting on the nightly news that she had won the lottery, my first thought was "Oh Lord.  She did NOT just announce that she has won millions of dollars in the middle of that dope smuggling, thug-wannabe, crime-ridden, very poor little town" (I used to live near there).  But then she showed up at the Lottery Headquarters with an attorney and a financial advisor and I thought "Ok, this is good.  This is good.  Hopefully she has hired security for herself and her children."  I thought she would move to a larger city where she could give her children a better life and more advantages, even if it was outside of NC.  But sadly, no.

The next thing I hear is that she is bailing out this dope dealer, again and again and again.  I just want to shake her and scream "Let him go!  Get the hell out of this town!  Move far away and start over fresh!"  But, here we are and nothing has changed.  Like someone else has said on this thread, 'money changes your situation, but it doesn't change you'.

Hopefully when this loser gets sentenced to jail, she will move on and not waste her money (or her childrens future) by staying there waiting for him.  I know it's her money and she can do with it as she pleases, but it really is sad when so much good could have been done, but wasn't, due to lack of knowledge.

She didn't end up with $88 million after taxes. She still owed more which would leave her around $75- $77 million. And who really cares if she blows all her money or not. She's not the first and won't be the last.

Is this guy getting Kick backs or what. Because no body is that stupid. 10% non refundable , Bondsmen must be happy to get the call from these morons. The

Lady i just feel sorry for her and her children. But hey IT'S YOUR MONEY USE IT WHEN YOU NEED IT :).

I wish her good luck and hope your realize what's around her.

                              "10% non refundable"

It's likely to be worse than that. There's no guarantee that the bail won't be forfeited for one reason or another, and at this point the total bail is $21 million. How big a risk would you take of losing that $21 million in order to make $2.1 million? I'm guessing that the bondsman is either taking more than 10% or has a guarantee that she'll cover a significant portion of any losses.

As for the amount of bail, it's not just a matter of what the crime was. The purpose of bail is to make sure that somebody who has been released will show up for the trial. Maybe this guy will show up despite a very good chance that he'll go to jail for a long time. Maybe he's got a strong sense of civic responsibility. Maybe he wouldn't screw over his girlfriend and  coast her the $15 to 18 million she may get back. OTOH, maybe he's going to try and disappear. It's a fairly reasonable assumption that he's got the financial resources to do it.
