What's the rule / etiquette?
First of all, the clerk should not be making comments like he expects to be tipped. If the clerk did it to me, I would tell the clerk Play the Mega Ball # 8 in the next Mega Millions drawing. How in the world would the clerk know if he sold you the ticket? It could have been purchased from any clerk from any store and/or machine. I usually by my tickets from one store either from the owner or his wife who are good friends with me. Anything under $500.00, I would not tip. Anything over, I would u

Should you tip the clerk who sold you a winning ticket?
I told the clerk at the liquor store where I like to buy most of my tickets about this thread. I hope that catches on! she said. You think politics and religion make for some intense and heated discussions in forums? Check out some of the ones about tipping. I was once savaged for wishing wait staff got paid a decent wage and then I wouldn't have to feel obligated to tip a certain percentage...even if the price of a meal went up 15%. I caught it from both sides; from the ones who tho

Should you tip the clerk who sold you a winning ticket?
The store gets paid just for selling the ticket, not including the bonuses they get when they sell jackpot winning tickets. The clerk may not see that money directly, but it goes towards their wages. It's not like they're in the service industry. I never tell a clerk how much I've won, and I usually never cash tickets at the same store where I've purchased them. Personally, I would never tip a clerk. To each their own, I guess.

Would you tip the Store Clerk if you won big ?
It depends on the clerk. There are some that I see often and who are always friendly. Others I see often and are grumpy and then a few that I see once or twice. The first kind is the one who would end up getting a tip. How much can't be said until I see the amount I won and I know exactly what person sold me the ticket.

Would you tip the Store Clerk if you won big ?
Yeah, I tip everybody for everything, from the mailman to the guy who puts new tires on my truck. It irks me though when a clerk tells me to remember them if I win big. Makes me think they're the kind of people I can't stand - cheapskates. So I probably won't tip the ones who do that.

Would you give a tip??
I most certainly WOULD gift the store clerk. I tell them if I win, I'd surprise them with a certificate for a Happy Meal from McDonalds. Just Kidding! If the tickets were quick picks, I'd certainly tip the clerk. If I choose the numbers, I'm not so sure, but I probably still would...Hmmmmmmm...I guess it's according to how much I won in this case.... I think it would depend on the attitude and/or type of interactions I'd had with the clerk in the past.....If the clerk has been a jerk, the ans

100 Most Stupid things Ever Said Or Done By A Lottery Clerk!!
I am a clerk. No it is not customary to tip. Frankly I did dislike the practice. What percentage do they pay of your loss? None. I honestly don't see why they need a tip.

Tip the Clerk
I would absolutely tip the clerk. Especially since I go to the same store every time I play....and its usually the same girl. Today when I bought my tickets she gave me a smile and said good luck I hope you win. She always says it to me, but I never hear her say it to other people. For a jackpot of this size, I would tip her a good $100,000 if it was the QP. If its my own numbers that win it, I'd probably only give her about $50,000. I read somewhere that the store that sells the winning

Do you tip when you win? Who? How much? Why do you tip?
I've only had one clerk ask for a tip...it was this past Saturday. His name was AJ. He sold me a looser. I went back today and gave him a tip: Next time sell me THE winner. He laughed and didn't ask for any more tips :)

Do you tip when you win? Who? How much? Why do you tip?
I don't agree with tipping clerks that sell tickets- because if you win a large amount for example- the lottery corporation gives a certain percentage to the seller of the ticket anyway.. So you wouldn't need to give the clerk a tip- because the lottery corporation would give them a certain fee..
