How much should a store clerk be tipped for selling a big winning ticket?
I'm opposed to the store getting a percentage. it brings down the jackpot amount. The jackpot is determined strictly be sales in the case of most online games, and for other games it's determined by some other method that takes no account of any bonus paid to the retailer. The bonus is just another part of the overhead the lottery has before the net profit goes to whatever use the state put it towards. Of course, unlike other overhead, a bonus is a completely unnecessary expense that reduce

How much should a store clerk be tipped for selling a big winning ticket?
Nothing cheapo about it. I agree with Ron because his answer made the most sense to me. Others may differ but hey, that's life. First off: It is YOU who hands your playslips over to the clerk, it's YOU who's reaching into his/her wallet to play those numbers. The clerk is doing squat but pushing Your slips through. There is no entitlement here . Once again: your slip, your money. As they say : Game Over! Btw- l have tipped in every restaurant l have eaten in, if the food is lousy, l tip but d

How much should a store clerk be tipped for selling a big winning ticket?
If someone won a $10M jackpot how much should the clerk that sold the ticket receive as a tip? I was thinking $100 per $10M won (e.g. $20M would be $200.) After taxes that $10M jackpot is about $3M cash. Possibly $500 per $10M won. That is a big range. I know.

Giving a tip
I totally agree with you on that! Although I have never dealt with any clerk expecting a tip. Maybe some of them were expecting a tip and I didn't notice the signs or hints they were giving out lol. What I do know is this: Friends, family, co-workers and even acquaintances WILL TOTALLY EXPECT something. I don't know why they feel they have a right to any money you've won, but they do. I don't ever feel like someone that has won something SHOULD give me some of it. One of the main reasons I go

Giving a tip
The store clerk that sold you the ticket is not your waitress, like in a restaurant. There is no courtesy requirement that you tip anyone for a winning lottery ticket. Most states give the store that sold the ticket a bonus. If you feel the need to tip anyone for a winning ticket, it's probably because you just feel good about winning, and you want to share your JOY with someone else. This is a normal feeling, and BENEVOLENCE in this world is Encouraged !!! Also, waitresses work much ha

Giving a tip
The way I feel about it is why can't the clerk buy their own lottery tickets just like I do? I don't expect them to give me a tip if they get a win! Actually I don't even win enough to give them one in the first place but even if I did I still think they should buy their own tickets! I'd much rather give some to a homeless person or buy him or her a meal with the extra money I have done that before.

Giving a tip
I've never won more than I spent overall even when I matched 5of6 for $1500 in the local lottery so tipping would just make my overall lost even worst. I lose enough to the state, it would be foolish to lose even more by giving part of my winnings to a clerk who is paid to sell lottery tickets. The only tip I give to anyone is to buy a ticket if they want a chance to win something.

winning too much!
They just busted store owners in Florida for cashing lots of tickets worth more than $600, but nobody knows how many lower value tickets they cashed. And unless you tell somebody, nobody will know how many you cash. and the cashier after your third win tells you that you must have more then luck and hints you are cheating. I lived in a very small village in Ohio and it had two stores that sold and cashed lottery tickets and there probably were over 50 stores in a 20 mile radius. The cler

For Fun- Should you win a major jackpot: Do you see yourself ...
Yes, I won BIG I would tip the clerk that sold me the ticket, maybe $5000. After all, we tip dealers in Casinos. The store may get a kickback for selling a winning ticket, but I doubt the poor cashier sees any of that money. If the universe has been generous with me I should be generous with others -- just good karma.

What's the rule / etiquette?
I went I cash in a winner tonight and the clerk made some comments like he expected me to give him a piece. The slot techs in casinos are more subtle, but they make sure by breaking the last hundred into smaller denominations, the winner has $ONEs and $5s for a tip. There are books on proper tipping etiquette, but I think they were written by someone working for tips. If you you think they deserve a tip, tip them and you decide how much it's worth to you.
