Odds/Number Of Tickets
Thanks for the replies everyone - I didn't know that my question would generate so many responses! I know that no matter how you cut it, luck is the big factor in this. Most of the games have such ridiculous odds that I only play a little just to try to hit the jackpot, but I was just wondering how to maximize my chances. So say Megabucks has a jackpot of 1,000,000 and has odds of roughly 1:5,000,000 and Megamillions has a minimum jackpot of 12,000,000 but the odds are 1:175,000,000. I still

Gold or Platinum Membership
Quote: Originally posted by BuzzsawAnn on April 11, 2006 If one joins the gold or platinum membership can you deduct the cost as expenses when you win big or will the IRS challenge your deduction? I'm not an accountant, but I strongly suspect that the answer may depend upon whether you are a professional gambler or, like most of us, a hobby player. At least that's how it works with deducting expenses and selling one's crafts.

Probability of Repeats, Subsequent Draws
Thanks Colin and RJOH . This is a TUFF game. It hurts my little.... Pea- Pickin' Pick3 head. The odds are just toooo much for me to use in my little methods. In the Pick-5 games ....I always picture it as me against the odds of about 10 college football stadiums ....each one of them holding about 50,000 people. During halftime they call out the winning ticket number at all 10 stadiums .......Yeah! it's me. I can handle that easy. ha ha. OK, I can dream that high ...one in 500,000. But......

Mathematics and the Lottery
ok..I want to take a stab at smething here if I may..its about MATH AND COMPUTERS AND COMPUTER PROGRAMMERS.....now since I AM LACKING KNOWLEDGE, ESPECIALLY in the computer and programming world...I do not mind being corrected here at all..but I have a few questions and answers I want to share... 1. IS IT true...that ALL COMPUTERS WORK OFF OF programs or algorithms THAT ARE BASED IN INPUT AND OUTPUT using mathematical calculations that are precise..for example..a scientific calculator..for TRI

Still interested in the Digit System?
Jim The digits and numbers have the same exact odds and from this way of thinking there would be no advantage for using digits over numbers. I don't play the big games because of the odds and the digit system is just another way to filter out numbers that is based on the frequency of digit hits. All lottery systems, programs or any other method is nothing more then a filter or series of filters. They accept or reject based on some information that when broken down to it's core is

Craps Pass Line With Odds Bet - Casino Advantage
I believe the majority of people playing this game (would it be ungracious to call them chumps?) make one or more of the many other possible bets that have a much greater casino advantage (some even 10%). They might as well be playing the lottery I presume that's why the casinos continue to offer the game. A whale (big-money gambler) coming up to a table betting $10,000 at a time on a Pass Line then taking 100x odds bets ($1M) would be a risky proposition for a casino. In case you're interes

How to simulate a distribution and use the lottery's own randomness against itself.
Good to see you're doing well with the file. We don't have a keno specific file, however, we are glad you're able to adapt it to your lottery. We'll look at making one for keno; for those that are in need. Since there are different variations of keno, it may be a few files. For now, we hope there is enough in each file to understand each of the functions usage; knowing Excel helps as well. Good luck and win big.

Mathematics and the Lottery
I appreciate you sharing this. I have ran across it originally sparking my interest in reading his published paper that I mentioned earlier. I am curious if you or anyone have comments on his process or math theories. I would like to see if I can gain insight from it in order to build a theory based method using hard science not to predict numbers (unless I stumble upon a crystal ball of course) but narrow down groups based on most likely patterns as he discusses. I for one agree that in a game

Neural Net Lottery Picker
OK, now it is working! Thanks stoopendaal! I read the intro and it is confusing, so here is a couple of questions for you: 1- Can this software be saved on the desktop? If so where is the save as button? 2- How can we use this software to win the BIG MM and PB jackpots? And more importantly, how long do I have to wait before I win the huge jackpots? 3- When you start the training it goes on a loop forever unless you stop it? What are the total error, average error, etc... and how can I

Mathematics and the Lottery
Whoever said nobody can win Pick 3?? They might profit in the short run, but in the long run they will still lose. There shouldn't be a question of who is collecting the 50% prize share. Lottery runs continuously. New and old players come and go. Some win and some don't. Take those few players who came out with a profit after 5 years. Now have them play another 5 years. How many are still showing a small profit? That is the problem of simulating a short time period. In blackjack you don't sim
