NY Scratch-off Discussion
Yes two people have, one from syracuse and one from a retailer two minutes from house. It's a gas station thats in an upper class area, you would least expect that kind of winner to be there. Plus the guy was an investment banker form England, so he dodged federal/state taxes and receives roughly 900k a year as a result Oh and his sister bought a $20 500,000,000 extravaganza ticket from the same retailer and won a top 1 mil prizes two years later. I could find the link to the story if youre i

Buy scratcher at one store, redeem at another?
Upon conducting my own independant research, I have discovered the following: Florida retailers receive 1% commission for cashing Florida Lottery winning tickets. What about Tennessee retailers? They cannot accept tips, as per their retailer contract: Retailers shall not condition the sale of Tickets upon the purchase of any other goods or services and shall not impose any other unauthorized restriction or condition upon the sale or redemption of Tickets. Neither Retailer nor its employ

NYS lotto scratch off dirtly little secrets that they do not want you to know about. READ THIS
If you play NYS lotto scratch off's, than you need to read this information. If you play other states instant scratch off games you may want to question that states policy, as I have done with NYS lotto. First off, it took me a very long time to get this answer. I had sent numerous letters from my friend and I under the freedom of information act to get my questions answered. I had to finally go on a major letter writing campaign and literally write to every single NYS Assemblyman and S

Little discusted...
Hello Slayer!!!--I'm glad to see someone on here that's close to where I live. I've worked in retail for over 17 years. I've never been dishonest with any people, I certainly wouldn't want anything like that happening to me. Most retailers in NY have the new touch screen lottery terminals now, and the terminal requires a 4-diget number if the prize is at least double the amount of the ticket, plus the terminals play the music now for any winner, no matter how big or small. If you want to be sur

Seeing if an instant lottery ticket is a winner
My advice is to resist the temptation of deciphering the codes or lulling yourself into the false belief that you understand them. They're intended for retailer use in the event they choose to sight validate a low-tier prize winning ticket instead of using their terminal. For all low-tier prizes ($1-$25) the codes are specific to the prize level and generally make sense. A $4 winner always has the code FOR , a $20 winner is always TWN , a $10 winner is always TEN , etc. But, for all other ticket

I think I got ripped off
The retailers scan the barcode on the back, and enter the security code which are the four numbers in the serial number on the front under the latex that are in boxes or parenthesis. I don't know if they are also required to enter the dollar value of the prize but that may be the case as a security measure since that can only be revealed by scratching off the latex. Once they've scanned the barcode on the back and entered the scratched off security codes, the ticket is inactivated so even if you
