I find myself stepping into every retailer I see asking for these soon to be completely extinct tickets. I have bought a hundred at least. If I may join this rant, what drives me nuts is when the retailer of a high volume store has no interest in engaging in any conversation about anything regarding the games. Any games. Its not that is busy at the time, there is a noticeable disregard for the lottery buyer, wasting his/her money and thinking there is any better odds with any particular scratch game. Yep. So the new loophole to winning big seems to be becoming a lottery retailer, and mass scratching tickets. I can't believe they don't have a policy that blatantly forbids playing at one's own store. They want to destroy open books when a retailer closes, or returns the book for a credit, but they're okay with allowing retailers to scratch at their own store?!??!?! This is what really worries me about this whole process and questions whether chasing the dwindling books actually offers better odds or not. They have a very accurate accounting of what games retailers currently have and what games they'll be getting. There are inventory reports broken down by game, dollar amounts, etc, to help the retailers keep track of their inventory. You can bet that CA Lottery also has access to this information as well.
