Nebraska Lottery chooses new director
Brian Rockey, former manager in the Nebraska Department of Revenue's Lottery and Charitable Gaming Division, will return as its director beginning July 1, Tax Commissioner Tony Fulton announced Monday.
Rockey, 55, worked for the division in capacities including marketing manager from its startup in 1993 through 2011. He then worked for International Game Technology (IGT, formerly known as GTECH), the primary contractor for the state lottery.

Nebraska Lottery to launch new scratch game based on football star
The Nebraska Lottery is introducing its latest $5 Scratch game, Johnny The Jet Rodgers.
Developed in partnership with 1972 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Rodgers, the new Johnny The Jet Rodgers Scratch game brings the excitement of the gridiron to lottery players. Each ticket features three returns to complete for a chance to win up to $40,000. A bonus feature offers the chance to win additional prizes up to $100. In total, there are $1.2 million in cash prizes available in the game.

Nebraska Lottery records best year ever
Total sales of Nebraska Lottery Scratch and Lotto tickets increased in the Lottery's most-recent fiscal year, resulting in increased transfers to Nebraska Lottery beneficiary funds and returns to players.
Preliminary sales figures released by the Lottery show total sales at $131.7 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2011, an increase of 1.3 percent over the previous year.

Nebraska lottery equipment upgrades coming soon
This summer, the Nebraska Lottery will be upgrading equipment at over 1,150 retailers, providing several benefits for lottery retailers and players.
The centerpiece of the conversion is the new Altura GT1200 lottery terminal provided by GTECH Corporation. The Altura is state-of-the-art technology, making it faster both for the clerk in selecting transactions and printing Lotto tickets. Each terminal will be connected via secure satellite or 3G wireless links to the central processing system.

Neb. lottery numbers drawn twice in row
The odds are against something this odd.
A Nebraska Lottery official says the winning numbers for the state's Pick 3 lottery on Tuesday were exactly the same as the winning combination from the night before.
Lottery spokesman Brian Rockey says one of two lottery computers that randomly generate combinations picked the numbers 1, 9 and 6 in that order for Monday night's drawing. He says the other computer picked the same three numbers Tuesday in the same sequence.

Nebraska man wins Iowa Lottery's $500,000 second-chance jackpot
A railroad worker from Lincoln, Nebraska collected a $500,000 check Friday from the second chance drawing of the Iowa/Kansas Midwest Millions scratch ticket lottery game.
Fifty-year-old Ralph Kuwamoto says he bought the tickets at a store called Eddy's in Glenwood, Iowa and then mailed them in for the second-chance drawing. Kuwamoto says he didn't think anything about it until a friend called.

Record Powerball lottery won by one Nebraskan
Someone, somewhere in Nebraska held the only winning ticket for the record $365 million Powerball jackpot, but likely wasn't in a rush to come forward, lottery officials said Sunday.
