Thanks for keeping up with these records Jake.  They are most informative and I'm sure readers appreciate it.

Mega Millions set a new 8 roll record for the Oct 18 draw at $90 million. The previous record was $84 million. The 8 roll record for Powerball is $75.8 million.

Mega Millions has set an unprecedended number of roll records lately. This streak should continue until the jackpot is won. Conversely, Powerball has not set any new roll records lately despite its new matrix and annuity payout.

    Good luck,
    Jake

      Good luck,

Now that PowerBall is getting national coverage, MegaMillions will probably sell more tickets too.  There are lots of casual players who never think of playing the lotteries until it's in the news and for those not willing to travel to a PB state for tickets, the MM $108M jackpot will be nice enough.

Sales are doing pretty good for MM.  I think the last big jackpot helped out also.  The way the sales are going we should hit $200 in less than 3 weeks.

Jake, if this keeps up, then the old MM version records could fall. For example, the records are 177 million jackpot on roll 13, 239 million jackpot on roll 14 and 294 million jackpot on roll 15.

Mega Millions set a new 11 roll record for the Oct 28 draw at $147 million. The previous record was $131 million. The 11 roll record for Powerball is $116.1 million.

Mega Millions set a new 12 roll record for the Nov 1 draw at $165 million. The previous record was $150 million. The 12 roll record for Powerball is $135 million.

The jackpot increases for Mega Millions have been decreasing for the last couple of draws. The progressive increases for the last few draws were:  12  12  13  18  20  19  18.

                      This is an unusual trend.

                      Good luck,
                      Jake

Any ideas  why the trend is lower?

Gas prices are way down, lower than before the huricanes.  Not a big spending month (ie vacations, back to school, christmas, ect).

Maybe people are paying down their debts (I doubt that would happen)?

Maybe with the past Powerball run, MM people spent the money across the border states.  Has this been a trend before with the two games?

                        Just curious.

Mega Millions did not set a new 14 roll record for the Nov 8 draw at $225 million. The current record is $239 million. The 14 roll record for Powerball is $177.1 million.

The current Mega Millions 14 roll record was set prior to the matrix and odds change.
