Jake, I hope that MM will rol one more time and then one ticket wins the jackpot. I think the North American jackpot record will be shattered on Friday's draw. I'm also happy that MM set a new cash roll record of 182 million for Tuesday 11/15.

I really don't want it to roll again, because I want to win the jackpot on Tuesday 11/15. But if it does roll, so be it! I'm also glad MM set a new cash record of 182 million!

Keep dreaming the impossible dream, it just may come true! Thumbs Up

Revision of an earlier post since the jackpot size was changed.

Mega Millions set a new 16 roll record for the Nov 15 draw at $315 million. The previous 16 roll record was $160 and was set by The Big Game. The 16 roll record for Powerball is $314.9 million (almost identical to the Mega Millions record).

At 16, this is the largest number of Mega Millions rolls. The Big Game, though, rolled to a maximum of 19 times. Powerball also rolled a maximum of 19 times.

      Good luck,
      Jake

I can't even imagine MM rolling 19 times. Jackpot fever would prevent it from happening. Even 18 rolls would be hard to imagine. At 18 you would be looking at 500 million with a cash value of just under 300 million. I think someone would just win it before that happened

In six months or a year it will take 18 rolls to get to $315 million.

Over on the MM probability thread, I developed a modeling equation that I think has a fairly decent fit, showing that the outset of any run of rollovers there is roughly a 1% chance of between 19 to 20 rolls.

              http://www.lotterypost.com/thread/119385/5

It may or may not happen in our lifetimes, but it is certainly possible.  Note that there are only 5 or 6 resets in a year, because of the long odds.

The probability of 19 or 20 rollovers is probably greater because jackpot fever kicks in more slowly these days than ever.

Is $16,000,000 a new second roll jackpot.

Mega Millions set a new 1 roll record for the Nov 22 draw at $16 million. The previous 1 roll record was $15. The 1 roll record for Powerball is $20 million.

Mega Millions is setting new records as a result of the recent $315 million jackpot. It will probably set new records thoughout this jackpot run.

I highly doubt Powerball will set any records under 5 rolls until they get at least three more states.  They just don't have the sales.

Powerball can easily set new records under 5 rolls. The jackpot was last won at $36 million. That level was reached after 3 rolls. The 4 roll record is only $42 million. If the jackpot was not won at $36 million, the next roll would have broken the record.

                      Good luck,
                      Jake

Yeah that's true, but that run was on fire due to the record breaking annuity jackpot.  The $36 million win put that fire out, so now it's highly unlikely PB will set new records under 5 rolls, at least until its next $300+ million jackpot.

Mega Millions set a new 3 roll record for the Nov 29 draw at $35 million. The previous 3 roll record was $32. The 3 roll record for Powerball is $36 million.

Powerball has higher records than Mega Millions for rolls 0 to 3. They tie for 4 rolls and Mega Millions has higher records for rolls 5 to 15.
