I'll still playin' even though it is futile at best. Mainly because that darn $2 LFL is so far overdue, 2 more in fact. Maybe they got lost/destroyed? $5 LFL is recharged for another hit, $10 LFL also close.

In other news, found another $50 on Ruby Red 7's, this one was different than the one a few days ago:

Finally I found a useful site for CA scratchers ...

I read through all the posts ...

            Some very interesting stuff ...

I hope to be able to share some info too ...

            1. I love the info about the roll # ... just because the stats show that the top prize is due we shouldn't blindly buy that because its likely not in the new rolls but sitting somewhere where the scratchers turnover is low (Jon D credits)

            2. On the fun, money throwing side, I found that some people here are doing a machine run where they buy one of every kind. I would say its very unproductive, however, I usually buy until I get a winner (which I also feel is far from optimal).  If you have specific strategies, even superstitious strategies, I would love to hear them.

            3. I would love to compile all the winners and create a database (eventually, convert to a phone app - so I can access it before I make purchases) and the only real way to prove those numbers is via photos with roll # and ticket # ... so thank you forerunners and I hope to add to those collections ... just don't know how to upload here ... suggestions / help welcomed ...

I hope to converse with you fellow scratchers more and improve our odds Guitar

Welcome to the forum! There aren't a lot of us Cali players on this site, but this little Scratchers thread has managed to maintain a small following. The more the merrier!

I will post photos later on ...

But here are the results from my run today

                1. Liquor Store

                2x LFL $10 - (36) $10 symbol
6x GBB $5 - all lost so I stopped, though I really wanted to continue ... I remember someone saying its not so smart to play beyond the odds of the game (1:5.19) so six was already over ... anyways the numbers were (11-16)

                2. 7-11 Store

                2x LFL $10 - (24) $0 (25) $15
                2x GBB $5 - all lost (20-21)

                3. Liquor Store

                2x LFL $10 - (18) $0 (19) $20
                2x GBB $5 - (02) $0 (03) $5

Not so fun day ... *^^*

Some more Ruby Red 7's results:

                  Ruby Red 7's: $10, $15 - a rare 2 of 2 hit

                  $2 LFL: 0, 0, tkt, 0, 0 - just typical awfulness

And another store got 3 Ruby Red. Asked for 4 but the roll ran out so I got #77,78,79. I usually avoid end of rolls but they tricked me with the tightly stacking another pack on top of these few tickets to make it look like one pack was in the bin. Of course, once she pulled them, I could not refuse,(bad luck) but turned out OK:

                  Ruby Red (77-79): 0, $20, $6

Filled out the $20 bucks with

                  $3 10X money: $10

                  $2 Cash Stash: 0

Actually, I find that all the similar structured "7" games (Red Hot 7's, Triple 777, Ruby Red 7's) are a lot more "clumpy" having more sequential hits than other games. But the downside to that, is longer strings of losers.

Most games like Gold Bar Bingo are about average, half as many sequential hits as single hits. Many other games are mostly single hits and few sequential hits, like $1Mfortune.

I was tempted to play the ruby red today.

I will take note of that advice ... the 7's structure is more sequential ...

Do you have a rule of thumb when playing?

Do you set a daily limit? any limit? Or do u just buy a couple here and there and bring them home ...

I usually buy one at a time, and scratch it right there ... if i miss and the next number 1-2 numbers ends with a 5 or a 0 I play ...

Usually backfires if it is the part of the roll that has like 10 misses ... cause I usually can't stop myself from hunting for that one winner ticket ...

But that winner is usually a "ticket" win ... so I have been trying REALLY hard to keep my streaks to 4 tickets per roll.

Gonna pass by a scratcher machine tonight ... so may drop some more money *^^*

                    Will update ...

Anyone else keep a tally of their losing/winning numbers?

I have a small sample (256) from my $5 scratchers ... and my worst regions are the late 20's to early 30's and late 50's, late 60's and early 70's range. Of course they may have no meanings ... but any accurate information can become useful so I thought I would share ... tata for now~

I used to. Not anymore because it's just too much hassle and kills the enjoyment of playing the games.

Welcome sudlor and please make yourself a home.  There is certainly a few of us loyal CA scratchers checking in from time to time.  Tough luck with GBB :/  Are you in Northern or Southern CA?

I usually play a set amount a week, and usually just buy 1 - 6 at a time, depending on the game.  Always bring home, and my game of the moment is $5 Ruby Red 7, $2 LFL, and, of course, my avatar $1M Fortune.  But I do love the Tripling Crosswords just because of the enjoyment I take of scratching!

I usually buy a few tickets of a roll, max buy at odds, and take them away. Occasionally I will chase a win in store if I can find a machine and scanner all to myself, but again, limit it to odds.(typically 4 tickets)

As you have seen, and many others have reported as well, you can get really sucked in chasing wins and end up with a long string of losers with only a ticket value in the end for your efforts. But I don't think either method has any significant advantage over the other. Other methods such as ticket hawking or only buying 1 can be more or less, but still not a guarantee.

Look at this example below of a Wild 10's buy from a few years ago. Got a $500 win on the 4th of 4 tickets, but there was also a $20 win on the 2nd ticket. So a win chaser may have stopped at the $20 win and not gotten the $500 if they'd bought all 4 at once. But then again, if you didn't buy those last 2 tickets, and took that $10 and bought 2 tickets from another roll/game instead, you may have had a big win there. Things that make you go . . . hmmmm.

that should become my new rule ...

i am planning to carry only $30 ... maybe when I go hunting ...

                              2x $10 ... 2x $5 ...

                              if i were to use that rule however, I would need 4x $10, 4x $5 = $60 ...

but i will scartch it there ... so if i get a winner on my first $10 ... i can stop and buy a $5

                              any tweaks to that idea?

anyhow, i got too excited finding this site and new insights I splurged too much yesterday ... gonna have to lay low rest of this week ...
