nice find mnsweeps *^^*

could you guys post the ticket number with the posting ... its makes a fun statistical gathering *^^*

finally ran my losing clump of Fortune55

$5 F55 (64-67) $0

$5 RR7 (53-54) $0

So i bought $10 worth of drawing games lol ...

I found another Win-All on Fortune 55, a small one, but not as insulting as that $10 one the other day. And it was part of a clump:

$6, $15, $20, 0 - the $20 was a Win-All with $2 each prize.

I don't bother with ticket numbers for small prizes, because those can show up anywhere. If I have a bigger win I may quote the number, or maybe post a picture if its large or interesting enough.

There are 3 classes of prizes for Scratchers:

Low-Tier: below $25

Mid-Tier: $25 to $599

High-Tier: $600 and up

Low-Tier prizes can be anywhere, so I don't think you will find any pattern or much use tracking ticket numbers on those. Mid-Tier prizes are more interesting, and I suspect there may be more deliberate placement of those. High-Tier or Top Prize, well, those could be anywhere again, and few people have any significant experience with those to say with certainty about their locations.

I am wondering why you guys are all into the new F55 scratcher ? The chances of hitting the top prize which is small $100,000 is same as that of hitting a $1 million one on the $10 ones..

I am an equal opportunity player, but mostly only play $5 or $10 games. The lower prizes of $1, $2, $3 games personally don't interest me, but others may like those. Everyone has their own preference.

But I always like to play more on new games when they come out. Not that you have any significant advantage, but probably better than later in the game.

Sure, the $1M prize is obviously better than $100k, but both are once in a lifetime hits, so why not try both? Also, the $10 tickets cost twice as much, so you play half as many tickets with the same cash as $5 tickets. $100k would still be a nice hit for most people.

Thanks Coolac for the words of wisdom.

To the other poster who asked why we play F55's so much and not the $10 scratchers, let me tell you my opinion.

For me, it's just a simple fact that the $5 tickets such as the F55's are half as much and I like to play a bunch of scratchers at once.   So if I am buying 10 dollar scratchers, I can only buy 1 or 2 at a time.  If I lose all my money on a couple scratchers I tend to feel worse, like I could have bought a whole bunch of  $3's and $5's and increased my odds.  A top prize would be great, but in my mind I am more likely to win a lower prize anyway.  Hell at this point my life after spending I don't know how much on these scratch offs, just a hundred bucks would feel great.

So i'd rather play $3 and $5 games ($2 ones occasionally).  I can buy more, have more fun scratching, and i'm more likely to win something back (free ticket, 10 bucks, etc) on a bunch of those than just one single $10 scratcher.

There's nothing worse than forking out 30 bucks on 3 tickets and you lose all three.  I'd rather get 6 five dollar scratchers and find a few winners.

Drew87, welcome to the board and thanks for contributing.

As Jon has mentioned, with scratcher games, you are competing against other players and sometimes the clerks!  You never know what ticket # in the roll the clerk is selling (and good luck getting that information from the clerk, because if they are players, they won't tell you).  Sometimes, they will stack rolls on top of other rolls so you cannot determine just by looking, either.

As others have theorized, usually the top prizes are between 40 - 80% of the roll.  My biggest win, in 1M Fortune, came on ticket #9 in the roll ($100 via multiple numbers match).  We will never know if the roll's "top" prize was that $100 ticket that I recieved, or if a bigger payout lurked even further down.  However, 1M Fortune is a $10 game, and I believe the max number of tickets on the roll is 45.  Therefore, ticket #9 is roughly 20% of the roll.

Your strategy should depend on how much you want to play and adhering to that limit.  For me, I like to mix it up but I understand the benefits of purchasing enough to cover the expected prize distribution.  (for example, 4 tickets in a row on one game).

When it comes to machines, I will choose a game, and after purchasing one ticket, see where the game is on the roll.  If the ticket # is too high or too low, I will select another game and go from there.  That is just my preference though, with machines, you obviously cannot tell what ticket number is next up.  When purchasing from a clerk, you may be able to obtain information from them prior to purchase.  But I'm generally pretty wary of clerks because they are too are just as likely to play (if not them, then friends / family).

          Good Luck!

          Cool method coolac ...

I think I may try that instead of playing favorite numbers (cause there is probably no correlation btwn numbers and wins) ...

I will have to focus my purchases on the 40-80% ...

My local liquor store clerks are cool , i usually go in when they aren't busy ... and just buy and scratch right there ...

I have seen stores where I am buying and scratching ... and scratching ... and the clerk snips the next ticket and sells me the next next ticket without telling me ... I never go back ...

i have thought of separating the big wins and the small wins ... however, i feel that it might be better to break it down into wins and losses because it could be possible that the wins are randomly placed ... and that the type of wins are also random ... meaning that pin pointing the wins in a larger sample would be better than pin pointing using just the big wins ...

that sounds so confusing ... i hope you understand a bit ... so we can keep up the conversation *^^*

as always thanks for your insights Jon D ...

              Pack size for CA Scratchers:

              $10 - 50

              $5 - 80

              $3 - 100

              $2 - 100

              $1 - 250

I wouldn't put a whole lot of confidence in the 40-80% theory, and that is mainly for mid-tier prizes.

And there are always exceptions, like the $1M winner on the last ticket, so you never know.

The biggest thing is to not think of the Scratchers as random. A batch of 1.2M tickets is broken down into packs of say 80 tickets for $5 games, that's 15,000 packs, and only 1 pack has a top prize. There are, for instance, 337,745 winners out of those 1,200,000 tickets. And every single winner is placed or scheduled on purpose, not randomly distributed.

The low-tier and mid-tier prizes are actually internal lottery terms, they do reports on retailer claims of each type. A pack of tickets is going to contain mostly all low-tier prizes, $20 and below, and then maybe 1 or 2 mid-tier prizes. The pack will typicaly return the approximate number of hits as reflected in the overall game odds, but your return could be only 40-50%, and as low as 30% enforced as a minimum pack value.

I have extensive data and analysis on this, but this is my own personal secret data. I could show you, but then I'd have to kill you. Naughty

Because you can't redeem $1,000 winner at a store. You need to mail it or drop it at the nearest lottery district office. It takes time to mail in the ticket or the winner may just hold it for a while before he has the time to drop the ticket at the nearest lottery district office.

Somebody just won $5 Lucky for Life. The ticket was bought in Fresno.

The prizes claimed should be updated from 4 to 5 pretty soon.

another person won $5 Lucky for Life. There are now 6 winners
