Hello,

I have lurked on these forums recently but now I registered as a new user to post on this thread due to the $20 Scratcher coming out.

Though I am not weathly by any means, I will be bold enough to play the $20 ticket exclusively and posting updates. Will try to post pictures of $100 wins or higher. I got the budget committed to play at least 100 tickets for the rest of the year, but anything more will depend on finding winners and personal budget.

Yes I am fully aware of the odds and payout rates on Scratcher games, and I have lost way more than I have won playing $5 or $10 scratchers. I just got a good feeling about this first ever $20 scratcher in California.

The website does not have a page as of now but the odds are out for this new $20 game

Cannot post links as a new user but, on the CA Lottery page if you go to Retailers page on the top and then hit News and Information page, they have the New Games Section PDF which has the odds.

1 in 10 for TICKET

1 in 8 for $20

1 in 30 for $25

1 in 21 for $50

1 in 33 for $100

1 in 420 for $500

1 in 2400 for $1000

1 in 13333 for $5000

1 in 40000 for $25000

1 in 600k for $100K

1 in 2.4Million for $5 Million

Good luck in your quest to take down the $20 Scratcher! Look forward to seeing some good wins posted here.

For me, it's a little too pricey to be my primary game. I'd have to be prepared to buy 3-6 at a time for this game, and I don't normally plop down $100 a session, so I'll stick with $5 and $10 mostly.

Went looking for some this morning, didn't find any. They sent out the reminder email yesterday about today being the big day...FAIL! No Show.

I see they have the website updated with the prize table now showing this $20 game. Hmmm, looking at the payouts, was hoping for better. Best overall odds, but average return isn't any better than the $5 and $10 games. And not sure if the $5M prize is annuitized or not, I assume it is.

    Thanks for the welcome!

I personally played 10 at a time a week for $3/$5/$10 in hopes to see at least a winning ticket, there have been a few times I lost on all 10. I use the winners to fund the following week's purchase, which usually covers about 40-60% or a $50/$100 win will mean the next play set is free. Took a hiatus until now. I saw many $500 wins posted from $20 scratchers on the other state threads so thats where I have a better feeling.

But since its $20 now, I will probably buy 5 at a time a week or so. I was planning to getting 10 at a time for the first two or three purchases.

    As for evaluating the odds.

I played in hopes of winning the 2nd or 3rd highest prizes which is usually $5k or $10k, but the most I ever won is $500 and happened just 3 times.

The $5 games was about 1 in 80k or 120k, but all of the $10 games are even worse at 1 in 300k or 600k.

$100K is usually the top prize for $5 tickets and those have 1 in 1.2Million odds. So getting 1 $20 ticket would be getting like 4 $5 which will make the odds feel like 1 in 2.4Million.

$25K is usually the top prize for $3 tickets with the odds of 1 in 600k,

$5K was what I was hoping to win from the $5/$10 ones, at 1 in 13,333, it feels the chances are much better.

I think this $20 scratcher has a higher chance to keep me in the game on a weekly basis, the odds of $100 win are better than the other price points, 1 in 300/400 for $5 games and 1 in 60/82/100 for the $10 games

I will try to get some today or tomorrow

Got 3 of the $20 tix. Got $25 on one, nothing on one and $20 on the last one. Either way, it's a nice ticket to hold in your hand.

I hope to achieve similar results.

Based on the odds winning $25 is almost the same as $100.

Not sure how the odds work on the scratchers these days, particularly the 20X Crossword $10 game where $100 is easier to win than $60 or $75.

I am new here as well.  I have been reading for a couple of months but wanted to post for the first time.  I started getting involved in the Scratcher Addiction in March.  I typically only play the $10 games and am almost 95% centered on $1,000,000 Fortune and $10 Lucky For Life.  I usually play $20 per day and am surprisingly ahead over the course of my endeavour.

I track my $50+ winners usually.  I have won $1,000 once on the $1,000,000 Fortune and $500 on Lucky For Life.  Have hit the instant $100 a lot and also have a couple of the "WIN" symbol winners on $1,000,000 Fortune.  I usually buy one of each and try to stay within limits I have set.  I have no luck whatsoever on Diamond Millionaire and the $5 games so I kind of stick with what works.

I am going to dip into the new $20 game today or tomorrow.

            Fast Facts:

            a) I did not get any T-Shirts for buying any $20 scratchers

            b) I looked at the back of the ticket and there is no mention about the $5 Million prize being annaulized.

            c) There are 30 tickets per roll

As planned I bought 10 of these tickets today. I was given the tail end of the ticket roll as no one asked for these tickets throughout the afternoon. Time to post my first update on this thread.

Out of those, just 2 of them were winners. At odds of 1 in 2.89, on average I should expect 3. Both tickets were $50 so I lost out on half.

That's a tough ROI off of $200 played(10 tickets).  I bought 3 and won $20.  You can get smoked pretty quick on $20 tickets.

I could personally handle 50% ROI off of 10 $5 tickets a week, sometimes $10 tickets if I am going good.

But yeah that kind of loss is stinging right now, I am strongly considering 3 at a time now rather than 5. Probably will buy the 5 when I land a $100 winner.

I always viewed scratchers as relatively harmless, but I can see how someone can get into real trouble with the $20 ticket. I have had my fun with buying 5 tix on release day but now plan on getting them sparingly. On a different note, I had a lot of fun playing the new $5 bingo.

Never a good idea to go to the local gas station with plenty of cash on hand ...

got royally rocked by the new $20 game ...

it was off a machine, and was gonna stop after one, but it was 007 and the machine usually dispenses backwards, and i love playing 006 and that's how $80 ended up in the machine and not in my wallet ...

better luck to you all ...

After 6 weeks of not buying a single scratcher, I ended up buying 2 $10 diamonds and one $5 LFL from a SHELL gas station near downtown LA (off Vermont) ....ended up losing all.. $25 down the drain..

Sorry to hear that mnsweeps. But hey, you could have lost a lot more if you played regularly during the course of the last 6 weeks.

I like the idea of not playing for a long time then treating yourself to some tickets but I don't think I can do that.

Yep, and you only need to look at the main scratch results thread, and see all the guys on the east cost spending hundreds on $20 scratch games in one sitting, often getting less than half back. You gotta be able to take some serious pain to play heavy on $20 games.

I tried some during lunch today downtown, 1 ticket each from 3 different stores. Got $20 on 1, other 2 lost. Gee, that's just about the exact hit rate and (horrible) return I should be getting at this level according to the chart. Bang Head
