has anyone here ever won anything on the CA lottery scratchers second chance drawings?

I have not either.  I enter 2000 tickets per month for the last 5-6 months and nothing.  I am eager to see the results coming up drawing.  I have over 900 tickets entered for the $75k and 1400 for the $500k.  Honestly i'm starting to think that i am waisting my time...

    Thanks for sharing your story, it probably would have taken me a half hour to write such a thing. Overall congrats on winning the $500 in the end. Most of the time people play the HotSpot (4-minute Keno) game at those Vietnamese cafes, but at least you had the opportunity to buy the entire set with just skipping #29.

    It is one thing I was hoping to learn on these forums, is the trend of scratcher rolls. I have chased and bought entire rolls of $5 games in the past. As the $5 games Take 5 and Mega Crossword in 2010 had 1 in 1714 and 1 in 2400 odds respectively for $500 prize. With 80 scratchers in a $5 pack, it would be 1 in 22 or 30, but thats definitely a low guarantee.

    It was mainly Ticket, $6, $10, $15, or $20 winners. No guarantees of $30, $50, or $100 in a few rows. Rather than $400, usually $200 was good enough to go through a set when winners are redeemed right away. When I chased I took the tickets I bought and I scratched off the part where there is a bar code and quickly scanned the ticket on the ticket verifier so that I could quickly purchase more if needed. It would kill the excitement and suspense that comes with a scratcher game.

    At least in the $5 Million JP game, though the return is 78%, just 97510 tickets out of 33.6 million are worth $500 or more. With 30 tickets a pack, and 1.12 million packs, on average 1 out of 11 packs (as Jon mentioned) will have a high prize ticket. But 1 in 14 for $500 (1 in 420).

    You did luck out, the odds of a profitable pack is that low. I never had such a good outcome chasing wins.

    Thanks CAScratcher20

    I know what you mean about trying to figure out the trend of scratcher rolls. It would be great to be zoned in on that, if it's possible.

    FYI, the 5MJP deck number I was playing was 1383075.

      It is very much an unfair contest. People who dig trash for entries have an advantage. But then, it still offers the best chance at winning the top prize provided the player entered multiple tickets to improve against the 1 in 1.2 million odds.

      If you are giving up on 2nd Chance, you could sell those non-winning tickets are being sold on eBay. I think only the LFL, $10 and $20 ticket have value.

        I am one of those trash diggers and i buy them on Ebay and craiglist.  I think i will just enter what i have and just enter what i buy from now on.   Although, i have found a bunch of winners that people discard.  I hit $50 from the trash a few days ago.  They didnt scratch off the Bonus chip on the 75k Poker and the trash was right next to the ticket checker.

          Looks like my entries are very LONG shots... I checked and I have 1 entry for the $75K and 11 entries for $500K.

          Regarding 2nd chance drawings, I do see people from neighboring cities win $15K in the SuperLotto 2nd chance.  I think in 11 drawings so far there were 3 $15K winners within 5 miles of me, but neither I or anyone I know has won anything.

          I never did hear back from the CA Lottery regarding my public records request for number of entries per each 2nd chance winner.  I'm not going to pursue it now, maybe I'll follow up at a later time.

            Thanks for requesting that information at least. Not sure the details of how the winner for a 2nd Chance drawing is selected, supposedly they have some kind of auditors in place to ensure integrity. But still, people who play each believe they each entered what they feel is a lot to their own standards.

            A high school janitor won the $2,000,000 Extraveganza 2nd chance back in 2010. In the article he thought the telephone call from the CALottery was a prank/hoax about winning $2 million, so people can tell he most likely picked up losing tickets.

            Some local news from a different region reported a $100k winner for trash ticket collection. Another person won $100k 2nd chacne drawing with just 10 entries.

            Morongo Casino Resort and Spa (near Palm Desert/SoCal) offers a luxury car promotion every Sundays (1 entry = $300 dollar coin in a slot with their Winners Club (player cllub card), thats not a whole lot if you go up and dow) did reveal some 60-year old man won not once but twice using 7 entries for the first and 2 entries for the second time around.

              So have you guys tried the CA Black Exclusive Ladyluck game?

              http://ladyluckgame.calottery.com/

              Game is lame, tried it once.

              Ticket entry is lame too. You cannot copy/paste out of the window. I gotta open up another browser window side by side and manually type to code in for 2nd chance. And it wants an email entered for each.(and it generates 1 email per entry)

              Strange. What are they thinking with this?

              Also, in effect, since each CA Black ticket gives you 2 entries, that means if you enter 500 CA Black tickets in a month, that uses up your 1000 submissions a month limit. But I guess people have found ways around that with multiple accounts. Other games have given you multiple entries under 1 submission, but not making more submissions per ticket.

              Strange again. Why they did this. I don't get it.

                Yeah, I noticed that you can't copy/paste either.  What I do is open my email window and CA Lottery browser side-by-side and copy/paste codes from emails in my inbox to the 2nd chance entry window.  This is a little faster than manually inputting the codes which I was doing the first couple of times.

                I wonder how the CA Lottery reconcile duplicate/multiple accounts during the claim process and verification.  I know they log IP addresses, so if someone enters thousands of codes weekly or monthly from the same computer to many different accounts, that should be a red flag to be investigated.  For each draw, they pick alternates, so if for some reason the original winner fails verification then the prize goes to the first alternate and so on.

                BTW, I found the game to be underwhelming... was the Fortune 55 game better?

                  Not a web expert but I noticed they purposely did not allow copying and pasting as some portion of the site is unselectable as highlighted by the style option

                  #gameContainer {
                      -moz-user-select: none;
                      background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #000000;
                      height: 933px;
                      margin-left: auto;
                      margin-right: auto;
                      overflow: hidden;
                      width: 639px;
                  }

                  I guess the entries counting twice per ticket is since its for the same 2nd Chance End of Game Draw and not for a seperate contest. It is a two month promotional thing as it states on the FAQ, so its their way of selling as much CA Black tickets as much as possible.

                  The ticket code on the Lady Luck challenge also adds an entry to the worthless quarterly draw, so I think they justify counting 2 codes for 1 ticket there as well.

                    I'm sure the CA lottery checks this before announcing the winners in regards to the multiple accounts.  The reason i enter 2000 per month is because my wife has an account as well.  I'm sure it falls under the same IP address so i hope they don’t go by that.

                      Its pretty pointless to enter the extra entry.  That game is going to have so many entries the odds are going to be crazy.  If CAlottery wants to get more people to enter or go to there site they need to add more chances per end of game prizes.  It would be nice if they did 3 drawings for the top 3 prizes per end of game.  For a $10.00 game, have a 1m, 20k and 10k draw...

                        I will probably buy some non-winning tickets from eBay too, to a point where I have 100 entries for each $10/$20 or maybe $5 scratcher game. It is great that you found that winning Poker ticket through your trash digging efforts.

                        I was not planning on playing much CA Black from the start since I know the odds on the replay will probably be ridiculous with 24 top prize structure let alone  that Lady Luck challenge, but Diamond Millionaire (same odds structure) has became less available in favor of it.

                        I like your proposed idea, but the tone of their monthly newsletter messages feel like offering any sort of 2nd chance drawing is better than nothing.

                          Found the last 5 of 1MF today and they were 004-000.  Two $20s & one ticket, so 50 in, 50 out.
