Lotteries have millions of possible outcomes and only one per drawing so if the powers that be allowed maybe even hundreds to win every drawing it wouldn't be attributed to the results of some higher power but the results of some crooked men. People prefer that good results of higher powers be unique to them, if it includes good results for too many, they suspect something is foul.

* you don't need to buy every combination, just the winning ones *

Personally, I think gambling is like many other things we should do in moderation, no matter if you're religious or not. To me, it's a "sin" for someone to spend money on...say, booze...when their children are going without basic needs. I've seen people struggle with their rent just because they were making a payment on a luxury automobile. I've seen couples have trouble making ends meet because either the wife or the husband refused to give up things they insist they "need", be it the husband's weekly poker night with the boys or the wife's regular visit to the nail salon, or thinking their kids have to have $200 sneakers because the other kids have them too. I think the lottery is one of those things that should be the last items in a budget; if you can afford to play and it doesn't deprive your family, then have at it.

I think that it doesn't matter how lucky you are, how good of a "system" you think you have, whether you are a good or bad person ... the bottom line is that God will decide if and when you might win.

If God wants you to win, you will ... according to his timing.

If God does not want you to win, you will not.

God works in mysterious ways, and has his reasons for everything, good and bad. Personally, even when bad things happen in my life, I try to look for the good that would not have happened had the bad not happened first.

Well mypiemaster, it would appear that the " powers to make decisions" with regard to winning the lottery for current LP members is still a dream for all of us. We await the moment with anticipation. You right about one thing : It is all up to us now.

Well Folks- With the jackpot riding this high, whatever spirit you pray or chant to, may the Force be with you guys and gals in bringing this jackpot down to earth before the matrix change kicks in,as they say " Hope springs eternal " . I would not mind reading that there was a two way split in this jackpot with one of the winners being a LP member.

Not withstanding, I will take the equivalent of $301 million dollar bills (current PB jackpot) bearing the motto "In God We Trust" that the lottery may bestow upon me. And I would be able to publicly state the money has an association with God with great certainty!

Chiming in really late....

As an atheist, I believe you win because of pure luck. People think you can increase the odds by eliminating such and such numbers but they are all still 1/1000(ex of pick 3). To me, it's weird that people played thousands and finally hit one immediately praised god (thank you god) because then what about the thousands Xs you didn't win? Why don't you then praise god for ripping you off the loss amounts. Anyway, to each their own I guess. I think everyone will say and believe just about anything if they think it'll help them in any way except me and the hardcore mathematicians. I'll throw in a buck or two on M and PB knowing I would have better chance at getting hit by lighting twice but you can't win if you don't play.
