Mother told she can't pray on school grounds to fight violence

WMUR: CONCORD, N.H. During the school year, Lizarda Urena, the mother of two students, prayed out loud on the steps of the school as students walked in. Urena said she had a calling in 2011 to fight school violence with prayer, so she started praying on the steps of the auditorium between 7 and 7:15…

There is nothing wrong with praying…I prayed every day before my classes started in my classroom alone, and sometimes when my class was full of students. No one knew I was praying but GOD. What is in question is the way the lady was praying. She prayed out loud on the steps as students walked in. This disrupts the orderly process of students entering the school. We should also make sure that we are not praying like the Pharisees prayed.

The Pharisees did many things, but they didn’t get anything out of it (Matthew 6:1-8) “take heed that you do not your alms before men, to be seen of them; otherwise you have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.  Therefore when you do your alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men.  Verily I say to you, they have their reward.  But when you do alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand does.  That your alms may be in secret, and your Father which sees in secret Himself shall reward you openly.  And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.  Verily I say to you, they have their reward.  But you, when you pray enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret, and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly. You don’t have to put on a show to get GOD’S attention.

Can America's 'Race Problem' Be Solved?

Yes it can and will. There is a new generation of children that is determined not to make the same mistakes of their parents and grandparents. I was a middle school science/math teacher for 30+ years in one of the largest school system in Georgia. I was privileged to teach some of the brightest students in predominantly white and predominantly black schools. As a teacher, you cannot have respect of person. You must be color blind. If you are not, the students will spot a phony in a minute. But I found that when students respect you and your actions speak louder than your words, they will open up to you and share their true feelings. I have always had a good rapport with my students.

I use to ask my students the question: Are you the lost generation or generation X as many like to refer to you as? Their answer was always no! They use to tell me that is the same thing they use to say about my parents and their parents. That too was a lie from the pits of hell. I use to say to them every generation has a chance to make things better for everyone. That is why I’m so optimistic about the future.

Let’s face it. This generation does not share the mentality of their parents and grandparents. They believe we can live together in peace without racial divide. So yes, America can and will solve this race problem, it will take our children’ generation to accomplish it. I pray that GOD let me live to witness it.

Supreme Court says Voting Rights Act of 1965 is no longer relevant...I heard that before!

There are still hateful and bigoted people that live amongst us that work tirelessly to undo the good that was done by real GOD fearing Christians. These hateful people can be your neighbors, friends, family members, or even so-called church members.

Just as the Union soldiers were stationed in the south to protect the rights of newly freed slaves…the same was accomplished with the 1964 Civil Rights Act that made it illegal for employers to discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender or religion "in hiring, promoting or firing." In 1965, the Voting Rights Act made it illegal to deny the right to vote based on literacy tests, which had previously been used to prevent black Americans from voting.

The Reconstruction implemented by Congress, lasted from 1866 to 1877. Much progress was made by Blacks during this time period. However, when the last of the Union soldiers left the south opponents of this progress soon rallied against the former slaves' freedom and began to find means for eroding the gains for which many had shed their blood.

And unless we study history, we are destined to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Be careful what you ask for...you may get it!

Many times when things are not going our way or the way we think it should go, we push GOD aside as if to say to GOD “step aside, I know what is best for my people when times are hard. Let me refresh your mind as to what happen to Israel when they thought that they knew more than GOD.

Israel Asks for a King

8 When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as Israel’s leaders.[a] The name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah, and they served at Beersheba. But his sons did not follow his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice.

So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead[b] us, such as all the other nations have.”

But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”

10  Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king. 11  He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12  Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13  He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14  He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15  He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16  Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle[c] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17  He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18  When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”

19  But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. 20  Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”

21  When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the Lord. 22  The Lord answered, “Listen to them and give them a king.”

Then Samuel said to the Israelites, “Everyone go back to your own town.”

Repubs and tea partiers have been crying out for a new President…you will get your wish in 2016, and when things don’t work out, just remember…you got what you’ve been asking for, then your prayers too will be in vain.

GOP past follows him

In this Feb. 23, 2013 file photo Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett participates in the National Governors Association 2013 Winter Meeting in Washington. As they gear up for re-election, many GOP governors find themselves in positions of strength, having benefited from improving economies. But some swing-state GOP governors, elected in 2010, are in serious trouble. Corbett has not been able to capitalize on his state's economic recovery, and he faces questions about his handling of the Penn State sex abuse scandal, while he was attorney general.

Racism knows no bounds

http://gma.yahoo.com/video/interracial-cheerios-commercial-draws-harsh-181117914.html

A new Cheerios commercial that included an interracial family drew so many racially motivated hate comments on YouTube that the video-sharing website shut down the commercial's comment section.

Consumers have responded positively to our new Cheerios ad. At Cheerios, we know there are many kinds of families and we celebrate them all," Camille Gibson, vice president of marketing for Cheerios, said in a statement.

God bless Camille Gibson. Someone has to take a stand against these racists and bigots that still exist in various parts of the US, but mostly in the south. It is small group of repubs that think things are better if they remain as it was in the 50’s and 60’s. Well as with the movie, the old south is GONE WITH THE WIND.
