I bought an entire book of $20 GA tickets - $3,000,000 Taxes Paid
You got that one right! I went to claim the $130 of my winnings tonight at a QuickTrip. I was going to get some more there, but my gut really strongly objected to the idea for some reason. I turned in $90 worth, meaning to turn in $100 worth (they will only pay out up to $100 cash, After that it is a money order, which I did not feel like dealing with). Against my better judgement, I asked if I could turn in the remaining $40 ticket for more scratch offs. The clerk said no, and went into this lo

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
I've never won more than $600 from the Lottery myself either before, but have won $1200+ a few times at a casino to know about gambling taxes. That is correct, according to the CALottery handbook, they will withold 25% for prizes that amounts to $5000 or more or 33% for prizes $250,000+. The W2-G form you get will indicates prize amount and the amount witheld (as tax paid) The winner is still accountable for reporting the winning on their tax filing, there is a section to report the W2-G a

Hi Speeddmon, in the FL Lotto press releases those big checks to go along with all those big smiles always show the wins in todays dollars....but that win amount is, in reality, spread over many years (usually 20). The Lotto gives such winners the option to get paid right away in one lump sum, but at a discounted amount, since future inflation would erode the buying power of the annual payment if the annual $ option was chosen (think of if you bought a car 20 years ago what would a comparable on

Today 8-11-2016 marks an end to NY's game 596 1 million a year for life
Today Thursday August 11, 2016 marks an end to Lotto's longest running 1 run scratch off game that was so old they were not printed with the bar code, but rather retailers had to input the 4 digit code on the front. Although I will order up the final numbers on Friday for the sales totals this game ended with controversy and 1 remaining top prize never claimed. After studying the game I have come to realize that the remaining top prize was or should have been sold in 2012. We will never know but

So we finally cashed in the 50 thousand dollar ticket. We cashed it in at Resorts in Ozone Park. We ended up paying a little over 18 thousand in taxes and the check was 31 thousand. ALL the small prize tickets that we have saved since 2008 were cashed in for about 50 thousand cash. Because they are small prizes we did not have to pay taxes on it. They even provided security escorts out because it was so much cash. I have to say the NYS Lottery was very helpful and they were very good to

First a response to what happened: This is YOUR money. I know you won about 2.25 million, but you did give the 250K Kings Ransom card to your father and you had to pay taxes on whatever you ultimately got out of your 2 million dollar scratcher winner. As far as I see it, you already gifted your parents 250K minus taxes. Now, lets say you cleared a million dollars after taxes on your original win. A million dollars is a lot of money, but you know and I know it can go very

Have a question that some of you might be able to help me with.. They automatically took 25% for taxes. Everything I was reading had me expecting to pay 39.6%. They said nothing else about taxes... Should I be expecting to pay another 14.9% in tax at some point? Thats about $165k...

Georgia Lottery Scratch Offs
Nothing big to report, but I played $20 today got 1 $10 Cash Bonanza 2 $5 Taxes Paid. Originally wanted 2 Cash Bonanza's, but they ran out, and didn't want to play any other $10s, so just went with the 5s. Taxes paid tickets lost though #006 #005. The Cash Bonanza on #000 won me $20 with 2 number matches. Got my money back, so I'm happy. I'll try the new $10 ticket maybe later this month or next month. I got nervous thinking the only Cash Bonanza left was there because someone playe

DK, do not buy a $1000 card for over $600. The State takes 7% out for taxes when you turn the ticket in and then you pay the Feds another 25% the following year so in essence you are only getting $680 for a $1000 ticket. Combined lottery taxes in NC currently stands at a whopping 32%! You beat some nice odds to hit $400 twice! I can t believe you are working the Rudy Reds over like that as I can t win on that card to save my life but as we both known, I am just not hitting the door at th
