Anybody Play Bestslips?
Q:What are the tax liabilities on my prize? A:There are only taxes withheld on prizes greater than $5,000. If you win a prize greater than $5,000, Federal taxes of 25% are automatically withheld for USA citizens, or 30% for non-USA citizens. State taxes vary from state-to-state, so we can only say you should be prepared for somewhere between 3% and 7% for state taxes. Although taxes are always a big topic among lottery players, that is really all the information we have to provide to you.

I do not want to be accused of given misleading information. I do not want to banned from this site. Facts are facts. I said in the original post taxes are due on all earnings, even if they don't take the tax out. I will stick to strategies and predictions. Taxes are due for all money won via lottery. If you get a check from the lottery ALL TAXES are due. Please ask them to take the taxes out if they don't.

I was told at the claims office that each win is a separate payout....so if you get $500 two times for a total win of $1000 you will not pay any taxes on it...it's only on a single win of over $600 for a single payout on a winning card or ticket. When I won $1000 on a scratch card I did pay taxes but if I had won $500 on 2 separate cards for a win of $1000 I would not have had to pay any taxes. I know a man who lives here who gets wins of $500 on exact p3 tickets every now then he goes fro

As for me, if I win enough cash that it warrants me having to pay taxes (anything over $599 per year), I would be tickled pink to pay my taxes, ca

Sorry DB, that's not correct. $600 to $5000 you have to pay taxes but they don't take any money out right now----over $5000 they take a percentage before they issue you the check. Either way they issue you a form W-2G that has to be filed with your taxes. In 2020 I had 15 straight Play 4 tickets that they issued me a check for 75K and I ended up paying 11K in taxes at the end of the year even after my ticket deductions. Good Luck, Chris

You're right. The Lottery reports the winning to the IRS and the IRS will collect the taxes from you. They are the only agency which can take your primary abode away from you for non-payment of taxes leaving you homeless. Also, it's best to go ahead and pay the taxes at the time of winning because the IRS can and will fine you for not making an estimated quarterly tax payment on that income. It's none of my business, but IMHO you were playing with fire to not have the Lottery withdraw the tax pa
