What is your experience??
All states have lottery websites that explain the procedures for cashing winning tickets. Here in Ohio we can cash any winning ticket up to $600 at any lottery retailer. Winning tickets will a value of $600 to $5,000 can be cashed at a state approved bank usually within 20 miles after being verified by a local retailer and those above $5,000 has to be taken to a regional lottery office which is usually within 80 miles.

Have self-serve lottery machines, but can't pay out any tickets? (Rite-Aid in Ohio)
These are the rules for cashing in your tickets posted on the Ohio Lottery website: If you win up to $599, proceed to any retailer location for immediate payment of your prize. If you win between $600 and $5,000, take your winning ticket to a retailer location, where you will receive a Pay to Bearer ticket. At this point, you have two options: Obtain a claim form from the agent retailer, or download one. Follow the instructions carefully. Your retailer will have a list of bank-cashing loca

How The Winners, Not Numbers, Are Picked. A Theorem.
I should apologise. My information regarding the RNG being installed on the terminal at the lottery retailer is only second hand. I do not get it directly from The New York State Lottery. I know someone who is a licensed lottery retailer. It was they told me the RNG is installed on the terminal in their store. However, I cant positively say they got that info from The NY State Lottery. The fact is I dont know how or where they got that info, though I dont have any reason to doubt them. Th

What Would You Have Done??
I would've purchased the tickets but I wouldn't return to that retailer in the future, at least not for a while. I would offer to go in halfsies with the retailer on them? if he did go in for half then I would forgive the mistake as he's bourne some of the cost of that mistake.

is it true...
I help manage a store in Oklahoma that sells lotto tickets. In the great (aka: cheap) state of Oklahoma, the retailer gets 1/2 of one percent on the sale of the ticket (amounts to about 1-cent/ticket), and nothing on the winnings of a ticket. As far as I know, we are the only state where the retailer gets nothing for selling a winner.

is it true...
Each state has its own rules for paying retailers who sell the winning tickets and it's different for each game also. Some years back when the largest MegaMillions jackpot was won by two different tickets, one in Michigan and the other in Illinois, the retailer in Michigan that sold one of the winning ticket got $2K while the retailer in Chicago got $50K for selling the other winning ticket. Most lotteries post that information somewhere on their websites.

Truly Random
In Ohio rarely does a retailer sell a jackpot winning ticket to a player who has already won a jackpot. Does that mean that once a player wins a jackpot he should avoid going back to the retailer where he bought the winning ticket?
