C:\QBasic\QBASIC.EXE Welcome to MS-DOS and yes the database looks like what you posted. When I hit F5 it stops on the second number and says Expected:statment, I click on help and it says Qbasic has stopped doing an item by item translation of the program line at the highlighted item. The error is ordinarily to the left of the item. You could substitute an item suggested in the dialog box. Correct any misspelled keywords.Move the cursor to a keyword in the statement and press F1 to see the correct syntax for the keyword.

are you putting your numbers inside the "  ",  all numbers must be between the quotation

marks and also do not remove the ' after them.

              The best numbers that I'm using are for Oh and mine looks like BN$ = "03 10 15 21 35" .

I open the temp.txt and the blue Qbasic screen shows TEMP.TXT and the list of past drawings, I press F5 and it stops on the second number in line 1 "04 05 09 23 29".

Try resaving the database and the program, then try running again. I'm lost!!

                    Thanks RL. I input these

                    BN$=" 20 21 22 23 24"

                    and get this message

                    Total Sets Checked = 3286

sets that had 0 BN =1528
                    sets that had 1 BN = 1335
                    sets that had 2 BN = 387
                    sets that had 3 BN = 33
                    sets that had 4 BN = 3
                    sets that had 5 BN = 0

How do I know which of the umbers are in what set?

                    CB

                    Are these numbers "20 21 22 23 24"  the highest hitters of all 36 numbers?  Start with  BN$ = "   "

and put the top ten hitting numbers using the whole database.  The numbers should be the ones

that hit the greatest amount of times for the whole matrix.  lets say that then number 32 hit 385

total and the next highest is 18 with 380 hits, Do this for the top ten in your database.  Don't be

concerned for which is which, The filter does not care, It works by only allowing a certian amount

of these numbers in each draw.   If you set BN=0 low and hi to 1, then no set can have more than

1 of these numbers.  If you set BN low to 1 and HI to 2 then each set will have at least 1 but no more

than 2.  This is a very powerful filter.  The purpuse of making this list of numbers from the whole

database is so that you find the least likely numbers to apear with each other.  It takes a little time

but it can be done.  Send me your text file and I can do this for you. I have a program that will search

and build the strings and test them automatically.  When this is used with more than one list then

it can reduce very quickly and three of them can often do all the filtering needed.  Just set ID, TD,

pick the digits to use and set the range for the three strings.

                    RL
