New to the forums and just wanted to share my winnings from today.

So I went to grab lunch and grabbed two 5MJ. First one won $50 fast spot. Second one also won with $50 fast spot and a single number match. Back to back. :)  Unfortunately I didn't take a picture or remember the ticket numbers.

Then I went to a different store and bought two more 5MJ. First (#21) lost and second (#22) was a ticket. So I traded the ticket for the next one off the roll (#23) and got this.

After I cashed that one in, I decided to have a bit more fun and bought ten $10 LL (#25 to #34). Out of the ten, I won a ticket, two $20s, and this.

After I cashed that one in, I bought two Bonus Crosswards. First one was a loser but the second one was this.

Then I went to another store and lost on a few more 5MJ with just a ticket and $20 winner so I decided to end it there. There were 6 losers in a row followed by a ticket, loser, and a $20. This is the pattern that I usually find with 5MJs. Maybe there was a nice winner but I decided to quit.

The shop where I won the $500 and two $200s is in Santa Clara. The owner let me keep the winners after I cashed them in.

Overall, great day. But I've lost way more than what I have ever won. That's a hole so deep...it would take a very good win >$10k to fill. But this has been over the past year or so.

This one I got a few months back. It was a one and done which made it extra sweet. This was also my biggest win ever in both my casino and CA lottery ventures.

Btw anyone notice how fast the 5MJ $25k prizes are going lately. Just last weekend only like 450 had been claimed and now it's 469.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations. You had one hell of a day. I have been murdered by this $20 ticket--nothing over $50 since it went on sale last September--and have never won more than $40 on the new Crossword. All my recent big wins--$100 and above--have come courtesy of the Daily 3/4.

Like you, I am way, WAY down in funds since I started playing Scratchers in 1999. Losses easily in the $10k range, cumulative, no substantial wins ever. Maybe someday...

    Congratulation for your good winning!

I was doing scratch last night in Santa Clara on El Camino Real at Clabazas.

    Which store did you go?

Save Max Food & Liquor on El Camino and Jackson is where I won the $500 and two $100s.

I visit other regional threads to see what's going on around the country.  What stumps me is why it takes so darn long to receive our prize if it's $600 and above.  In Florida, for example, I keep reading about people taking their winning Scratcher tickets to their district offices and walking out with checks the same day.  Whereas, here in California, it takes 6-8 weeks.  Florida does background checks too, and will withhold funds, if there are any outstanding debts owed to the state.

I took this screenshot from Florida Lottery's FAQ page.  I'm amazed!  Same day if it's less than $250,000.  And, two business days if it's over $250,000 (minus PB/MM).  Still you get those funds in about two weeks.  And, you have the option for the funds to be wired to your account.

So, why in the heck does our claim process take so long?  If it was a week or so, no problem, but 6-8 weeks??

California is not the best state to play scratchers, IMO.  I've seen better odds for grand prizes and a greater amount of games in other states. It's not the worst either.

However, we all live here, so what are you gonna do?

California just seems like their Lottery System is not run well.  Their site is always down, 2nd chance is hard and not really mobile friendly.  It almost seems at times like they are making it difficult for people to do things but on the flipside they advertise all these opportunities.

It's like a pretty girl always flirting with you but as soon as you try to ask her out, she runs away only to come back 10 minutes later.

For something that brings in so much money, the technology and the system in place is a joke.

                    Hi Malloc,

                    Thank you for your replay.

I was thinking to stop by that place a few weeks ago but I have never been yet.

I will stop by sometime near future.

                    Good luck with your scratching!

Hope to hear another good story!

I also would like to extend the welcome to you to the forum, not sure if you derived your name off of a computer programming language term. Congrats on your winnings! Days like that are very seldom.

I too am down over $20k from 11 years of playing lotto games. Would take a single big hit to get out of the hole which seems improbable.

Not sure if you won something big lately to have this affect you, I have not yet so I am not worried about anything like this. At least on the flip-side California is one of the few states where you do not have to pay state income tax (amongst the highest in the nation). From what I know, the lottery in the state is more government oriented and the check you receive is from the state controller and not CA Lottery organization.

Well no matter where you are at, I read on these forums that just 1 in a 1000 people who play the lottery in their lifetimes will win a prize greater than $10k. Thus chances of winning a good life changing prize is downright awful.

Not to play the devil's advocate but to think on the positive end, the California Lottery truly stands out, although it does pari-mutuel for draw games to ensure an income to education, more often it pays out greater than the 50% prizes for the Draw 3/4 and over a million dollars for the 5/5 Powerball or Mega Millions prize. The state's Fantasy 5 (Daily Pick 5) and SuperLotto Plus (state jackpot draw game) have a much higher payout due to bigger player base.

Has anyone received a lottery survey via email? It was pretty interested. I guess they really want to know what you play. It was mostly based asking if you would buy certain scratchers.

got 2 5M JP tickets from a gas station in Sylmar and won both ended up losers... $40 down the drain..

5MJ is tough. I've been losing a lot on it lately as well. I actually ran into 8 losers in a row only to get two free tickets back to back. I think I'm going to quit 5MJ for good.

$10LL has been good to me. Atleast I get half my money back with that game on bad days and the occasional $50 and $100 wins keep my funds from disappearing.

I'm seeing a lot of stores with Wheel of Fortune posters. Anyone have an idea of what the pay tables and odds look like and what top prizes could be won? Maybe I'll just save up for WOF when they come out.
