I think that you are right, about that and the activation code is referenced to the I.D. generated.
But the question here might be; How to generate the activation code based on the I.D. generated?
Ricky of course had that software, I don't know if it is somewhere on his Web Pages or if it was offline on one of his computers somewhere.
Another question might be; What is the I.D. generated based on or referenced to? And how is it based or referenced to that something? I guess it was two questions.
I do think that the I.D. generated is tied to a particular installation of Windows and not to the hardware, but to the Installation software, the Installation software creates some codes for a particular installation and I think that the I.D. generated is based or referenced to one of those codes created when Windows is installed.
This is of course beyond the regular user of a Windows P.C, maybe(?) even myself, but I have not tried very hard yet and might not anyway (?).
This kind of thing is why many developers of software want people to register their software online.
My main problem with this is, that I no longer have the particular installation of Windows that I had that produced the I.D. in which my activation code of LotSoftPro was based on.
--------------
But that is not a problem to me, I mean, I still have a fully activated copy of LotSoftPro for my-self.
-------------
The only problem is that I can no longer reference that particular I.D. to that particular installation of Windows, because that particular installation is gone.
------------
4 characters of just numbers (digits) for example have 10, 000 combinations and 5 characters have 100, 000 and 6 have 1, 000, 000, if letters are used instead of numbers then it is a lot worse and if a combination of numbers and letters are used then it is much much worse.
If it was 7 characters and only numbers are used then there are 10, 000, 000 possible combinations.
So, as we can see, there is a problem, even if I knew for sure which code the generated I.D. is based on.

Winsum - the auto download works! However, for Colorado it downloaded some other state's pick 3 numbers, because none of the draws match!
Users of Lotsoft Pro version 5 for Pick 3 and Pick 4 can now perform a "Live Update".
Draws updated through June 4 2014.
When you update the either the Pick 3 or Pick 4 past draws it may take longer to update depending when you last updated. So for example if you updated yesterday's Pick 3 and then updated today you should notice that the update is shorter. So the more draws needed to update the longer the Live Update.
As far as the adding a new state drawing like the Colorado Pick 3 evening drawing. I will see if I can add the new game today. Of course there are a number of new Pick 3 games such as the Iowa Pick 3 midday and evening, Tennessee Morning and Texas Morning and Evening.
Each new additional state will require a state identifier and an 8 character code.
If you manually created a new state you may need to delete it or manually update using a properly formatted text file:

I guess my question is the web site pulling the draws from state lottery feeds automatically and updating the database or is Steve manually updating the database at the end of the day? If its the latter then that is no fun for Steve.
Its too bad that LotSoftPro does not have the option to automatically read the draws from a local txt files for each state. There are much easier and faster ways to update pick3 and pick4 draw histories from the Internet. But without access to the LotSoftPro source code its a mute point.

It only takes 5 minutes to update and upload the 2 text files to the server.

Quick Question. What is the difference between the registered and unregistered version of LotSoftPro? I've been reinstalling it every 15 to 18 days. Would be nice to not have to.
