Bought two $20.00 Cash X100 tickets, 001 - 002, losers. Bought tickets 003 - 004, losers, 005 - 006, losers, 007 - 008, 007 was a loser, 008 was a twenty dollar winner.

Bought the next three tickets, 009 - 011, 009 was a forty dollar winner, 010 was a 20 dollar winner, 011 was a loser.

In total, $220 spent, won $80, lost 140.00, pretty bad odds for a $20.00 game and I really thought that after seven straight losers ticket number 8 would be a huge win.

funny how our $20+ tickets have a lot worse odds than other states

in many states it is not uncommon to see $20+ tickets have odds better than 1:3 but in NY some of the tickets such as the former hit 5M and the golden ticket have odds closer to 1:4

always wondered what would happen if someone dropped $1000 on a book of $20s - would u get back over or under $400 (have heard entire books of golden ticket have paid out under $500 out of $1250)

Wow. Sorry to hear that you didn't get at least one winning ticket. NYS Lottery sucks!!

I hope tomorrow brings you better fortune! Cheers

Not surprising to hear those odds for the golden ticket..only in NY.  Anywhere else you'd probably get at least half of the money back.

I've always wanted to buy a book but knowing the odds it's best to buy individual tickets. Used to get luckier years ago. One week I won $1,000 on the Badabling $10.00 ticket and a few days later won another $1,000 on the same ticket from a different store, all in the same neighborhood.

Those days seems to be gone, though. Rarely do I see signs announcing big payouts in many of the local stores that sell scratch off tickets.

yup see a scratch off of $500 was sold here with the occasional $2500 win but not more than that in the stores i frequent - NY has gotten really cheap on the $1000+ if u take the time to do the math for the odds

1:3.82 should not be odds for a $25 ticket, I have seen $3 and $5 tickets in other states w better odds

You're absolutely right - 1:3.82 are odds more in line with a ten dollar ticket, not a twenty five dollar ticket!

Just seems to be getting worse. And I would guess that there are quite a few buyers who are oblivious to these odds and just keep on buying the newer tickets.

If more buyers did their research I bet there'd be a decline in sales. But, for many it's all about that instant win...after all, someone has to get that jackpot prize, right?

I would love to see a demographics chart of buyers in different areas of the city and what types of tickets are purchased and who is buying them.

Where I live the most popular tickets to scratch in the stores are the two, five and ten dollar tickets.  The one dollar ticket isn't as popular as it used to be.

I used to work in Wall Street and guys in suits and ties, probably stock brokers are scratching twenty dollars tickets like there's no tomorrow!

Would be interesting to see such a list if it existed.

Yeah, my gambling hobby will gravitate to pick 3 and pick 4 exclusively.  Might just start tossing $20 on a front/rear pair. Payout will be $1000 and the odds will only be 1:100 to win it.

see a lot of people blow money on 100x and golden ticket - surprised there still 2/4 top prizes in gold ticket left (been that way for a few months now)

the 2's are mostly 2 and 4 wins and odds for anything else like 2 or less per roll of 250, and agree on the research but people still play NY lotto and that is the biggest rip off of a game w a 40% overall payout and u can't win anything decent on it

my theory on the 1:3.82 on golden ticket is that b/c there are no break even prizes (most states have $25 and $30 prizes on their $25 games)

The biggest issue is the huge top prize. They allocated 7M for $25 when for $5 top prize is 1M

That is why the odds are suck

florida has 4 10M top prizes and 46 1M prizes on their $25 game and the odds are under 1:3 so don't think that is of issue

Hopefully when the new scratch offs come out they will come out in $5 tickets, this is how I feel I am increasing my odds because I can buy more $5 tickets.

4 new games on the 21st, and i can tell u with 100% certainty that there WILL be a new $5 game, most likely w the same silly coin, 5x, and 10x symbols and 4 $1 million top prizes (they need to change it up just only questionis the name of the ticket and the prize structure)

Yes it will still have the same old tired coin symbols, 5x, 10x, etc...of course, those aren't tired symbols if more people actually won bigger jackpots on them! Don't think I've ever heard someone winning the top prize on a coin symbol.

In any case, I hope there is a new $10.00 ticket coming out as well and if it does I hope the odds are better than the previously released versions.

i think 2 of the 4 top prizes in the golden ticket have the coin symbol with 7 million underneath

was told friday there will be since i think that will be replacing the $3M supercash - payout will likely be at or slightly below instant millionaire if u need any reference point
