Here's some really awful news....
The Pennsylvania Lottery started selling Cash 4Life on April 7th, 2015. On Sept 15th, 2015 a winning ticket for a second place prize of $1,000 a week for life was sold in East Stroudsburg, PA.
According to the Pocono News,
"A Pennsylvania Lottery Cash4Life ticket worth $1,000 a week for life, or a cash prize of $1 million, will expire if not claimed by Sept. 14. The winning ticket was sold by Price Chopper, 4551 Milford Road, East Stroudsburg, for the Sept. 14, 2015, drawing. A prize claim must be filed at lottery headquarters by Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016."
Man! I really hope a prize claim was filed in Harrisburg for that ticket.... Anybody know if it was claimed? G5

I recently re-read an old C4L thread that I started back in June of 2014 when C4L first began. At that time, I think only New York was offering the game. (If I recall correctly, The New Jersey Lottery offered the game to NJ residents a short while after New York.)
I was amazed to see how many New York winners there were back then, as compared to the number of New York winners we see today. It was in the range of 70,000 winners. Obviously because the game was new, many lottery players were buying C4L tickets. That's to be expected. I don't know how long it took for the game to settle down, but today there are typically 40,000 to 50,000 New York prize winners after each drawing. (The NY Lottery's website does not report the number of winners in any other state other than if there was a JP winner in New Jersey.)
That says something to me about the game. New York has a population of 19 million people. New Jersey has a population of about 9 million. So the best chance/opportunity to see a JP winner lies in NY/NJ combined. That's because the other six states that offer the game, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, Indiana and Georgia have fewer people/lottery players. Pennsylvania has a good shot at producing a JP winner with almost 13 million residents. That said, any state that offers the game could produce a JP winner. (Maryland has had one. )
I'm curious if there are as many non-jackpot (lower tier) winners in the other states as there are in New York. My guess is that there are fewer lower tier prize winners in the other states. G5
Interesting that the game started in NY and now the drawing is in Jersey...anyone know why ?
Anyway, now I want to go find your old thread and see how that went.

I don't have any idea why, but the drawing always was held in New Jersey. Maybe that's because Jersey knew they were going to start offering C4L shortly after NY????
Wikopedia says C4L started on the same date in NJ as it did in NY, but I don't think that's correct. But who knows, I could be completely wrong about that. It's sure as hell not like I have never been wrong before!
About that old C4L thread I started and wrote about in one of my recent posts....
An LP member sent me a link to it in a Private Message. So I clicked on the link because I had totally forgotten I had started that thread. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the PM in my LP mailbox, so that link went bye-bye with the PM, and I've no idea where that thread now is, or even how to find it. I guess you can use the LP Search Box to find it. Try searching on "C4L" or "Cash 4Life".... Good Luck! G5

I betcha the NY Lottery is up to their old very dumb trick of randomly generating a free QP ticket at the time you buy a ticket and also spend a minimum amount of money. I say that because I haven't seen anything on The NY Lottery's website announcing a C4L promo in October. For some crazy reason, they like to have these "stealth" promo's.
I know the NY Lottery has done that very thing in the past, but it didn't work out so well. To fix whatever problems/complaints they received the last time they did it, they gave retailers "coupons" to hand out to players that a player could use to get a free ticket. Of course that backfired! The retailers either kept the coupons for themselves, or they only gave them out to their friends. If ya had heard about/knew about the coupons, and you asked for one, the retailer would fork one over!!
Sorry haymaker, I can recall all of the above (it happened in 2014) because I recently read about it in the C4L thread that was sent to me in a PM! G5
That's the link to the old C4L thread I started. Thrifty sent it to me in a PM. It's from 2014, and it's well worth the read even though it's 18 pages.
It gives you a lot of insight/perspective as to how players attitudes towards the game have changed since it's inception. It also shows you how much we DIDN'T know/understand about C4L and what we know about the game today.
There is no doubt that NY Players have definitely changed their attitude towards the game since June of 2014. Read it. You'll see what I'm talking about. G5
Just cut and pasted that URL into my browser Sam, and I saw the picture of your tickets..
I like #55 myself, but if it comes out tomorrow nite, that'd be a double repeat. (a number comes out in 3 consecutive drawings) Those are kinda rare in C4L, but Hell's Bell's...what do I know???? I aint zackly won a grand a week for life! Not yet anyway. G5

A FREE TICKET???? Dam Sam!

I just checked the NY Lottery's website and there is absolutely no mention of a C4L promo in October.
Tomorrow when I buy my C4L ticket(s), I might (if I'm lucky) get to buy two ten dollar tickets. I'd love to be able to in a position to buy two five line tickets, but if I don't have the $20, (and I might not) then it wont happen.
The reason I'd love to be able to buy two ten dollar tickets is because I want to see if I get a free one. See, in the past when the NY Lottery has done this type of thing, just because a player spent ten bucks did not guarantee they'd get a free ticket. Free tickets were randomly generated by the lottery terminal at the time the ticket was purchased. Some lucky people got a free one, but others did not, even though both players spent the required minimum amount of money. I never got one, but I read about other players that did. That's when the "coupon fiasco" happened. Players b*tched therefore the coupons appeared.
What made matters even worse, is that some retailers had no idea what the deal was with the free C4L tickets. Players that knew about the free tickets, but didn't know that not everybody who spent ten bucks would receive a free ticket, screamed at clueless clerks "Where's my FREE ticket?" They basically accused the clerk who had no idea of what was happening, of being a thief.
Other retailers quickly caught on, and some clerk thieves pocketed the free ticket because the buyer had no idea that they might "win" a randomly generated free ticket. The whole thing was a mess, and I'm surprised that The NY Lottery is stupid enough to try it again. G5

In the search box I entered "Give five's cash4life thread 2014" and it showed up.
18 pages worth reading...I noted the dates and remember being quite busy at the time,
since I had received a permanent layoff notice at the time.

On the Jersey lottery site the earliest date I can enter #s to check is 6/16/14
for 6/19/14 it also shows one 2nd prize winner for that day...doesn't tell you what state they were in.

The 1st C4L drawing in NY was held on 6/16/14, so that says Jersey DID start C4L at the same time as NY.
Funny, I always thought New Jersey started shortly after New York. Maybe it's because NY didn't include Jersey's results on it's website until a few drawings after 6/16/4?? I dunno... That's my best guess.. Obviously I have no idea what I'm talking about with regard to when C4L started in Jersey! G5

On the bottom of my ticket it says:
Everyday in October buy $10 of cash4life on one ticket and receive a cash4life $2 QP free.
