Lol .......although his was a tragic story that ended with his death and penniless at that. I know I have mentioned this more than once but had DLE heeded his investors advice, he could have left the bulk of his winnings in the investments that were set up and could be living on $87,000 a month. Who could not have lived on that and never touch the principle?
I agree with you. Getting over $80K per month without touching the principal just makes me sick knowing he passed it up. Drugs and addiction are a strong influence that has taken it's toll on many.
Stories like these are a reality check for many potential lottery jackpot/windfall recipients .

Oops, spelling/grammer error, I can never get principal/principle correct, thank you.
I think the problem would be TRUSTING the money in investments AND not having access to such a huge amount of money. It's not like you woulde be broke or living paycheck to paycheck lol. With $87,00 a month, why would you need access? More than enough a person would need.
it would definately be scary in todays economy, maybe half and half and buying gold, silver, etc secondary.

Out of all the people who have appeared on that "Lottery changed my life" show he was the ONLY one who quoted the price of every <snip> thing he'd bought. Most of it was cheap imitation crap, like all those cheap Chinese replica swords.
To use an old quote: He knew the cost of everything & the value of nothing.
I know an actual Billionaire who is the same way. Guy never picked up the lunch tab because he saw it as "people taking advantage", yet is quite happy to sit there while someone else pays. Eventually everyone stopped going to lunch with him & he can't figure out why.

Psychologically speaking, because she was "meditating her win",I think it has affected her to a point where her mindset thinks she will win again in the same fashion when people play the slots or any other kind of gambling.
People get so "high" and "euphoric" during and after that moment of winning, they continue to strive for that "high" again.
The best thing this woman could have done was to put her good luck down to simply that..."good luck" instead of big noting that she meditated and foresaw her win.
When one thinks about it,isn't this what everyone goes through?
Anyway, there is also the guilt factor were as people who have most of their lives dependant on limited means, tend to develop a guilt complex. They think that it's not fair because they don't feel deserving of the sudden wealth they find themselves with.
And as a way of coping with this guilt, they subconsciously spend to patch over their guilty feelings.

With any money she has left, she can have a Powerball billboard erected in her backyard.
She can hire one of her family to change the numbers every time the jackpot changes, then she can sit in front of it all day and meditate to her hearts content.

What would be funny is if she did happen to win again, only for not to learn from her past mistakes and acted like an imbecile and lose it all again.
I don't think people have "Lottery Envy" as you suggest, but have empathy frustration by people that have that much money, but yet can fritter it away a-la Peter Griffin's family.(twice) lol.

These winners' accountant budgeted for 300k a month which was too much for them so they lowered it to 100k.
"At first, Steve says, their UBS Financial Services investment counselor Curt Bennett budgeted the family to spend $300,000 a month. "We said, 'We don't need thatmuch,'" recalls Steve. So the monthly allowance was ratcheted back to $100,000, the rest invested"

You are right, I remember that episode. He bought a bunch of medeival stuff and said what he paid for them. He cleaned up real nice, was well dressed and appeared to have put on some weight, not so gaunt looking. I honestly thought he was going to do well with his life, until he purchased a jet.
Someone once told me people with money HAVE money because they dont pay for anything. I remember stories of actors like Barbra Streisand, she would squabble about every purchase because she felt when Sellers know it is for her they jack up the price. On the other hand, these same people get so many freebies, the best seats, etc., it is hard to feel sorry for them.
I have experienced first hand how people with money are treated, in fact, it is sometimes embarrassing. No, not me, a friend.
If I had the money of a millionaire or billionaire, I would be quite happy to pay the meal tab just to treat my friends who dont have the funds to do so and to make ME feel good.

Everytime Cynthia appeared I saw her mention the name of her production company, so she saw tv as promotional.
I assumed her million dollar donation was to offset her lotto win taxes and bring her connections for her production company.
When I saw her on the jet, on the lottery show; I just think it was all show for tv. But I imagined she thought it would get her into the "visualization" to make it happen again.

bottomline, this woman is generous to a fault.in life ,it's not what you make,it's what you keep.with 5 kid's of her deceased brother, she had enough on her plate, then she won and choose a gigolo personal trainer ,now fiance to not only handle her money ,but took his advice on how to get into the 'biz'.THEN, she thinks she can contact D Geffen (who BTW has been in HOLLYWOOD for over 3 decades) to get an 'inside track' on what to do and where to go.Dumb, dumb move and all the old timer's say this was going to be a train wreck.NOW<she has also filed for Chapter 11,I assume to protect her business related debts? What a mess and where does she go from here? Meanwhile, her stud muffin is on facebook, looking VERY single and for the next lonely female with as pocketfull of money and dreams of stardom.I don't think even married that guy.Sad,sad story and she won't win again, ever

Exactly, we just hate seeing really dumb people win.
You have to realize that winning any lottery JP merely makes you upper middle class, not rich or wealthy.
The only jackpot we've ever seen that would actually make someone wealthy was the $1.6 Billion PB jackpot from back in January, and only if someone was the SOLE winner.
