TN prepper refuses med "treatment", loses gun rights

Keep in mind, he was never charged with any crime.
http://survivalist.com/doomsday-prepper-has-guns-confiscate.html

While some might blame his appearing on NatGeo as "bringing this on himself", that's the same logic as saying "she shouldn't have dressed like that". While it may be true, it ignores the larger point -- defy some bureaucrap whatever procedure (or payoff) they want, that's a pretext for relieving you of some of your property -- and leaving you in a position of not being able to protect the rest of it. If some people didn't "bring it on themselves", many of the rest of us wouldn't be aware of a problem, until it was too late.

TN touts their "no income tax", but when the state can steal your property for profit, they don't need a formal income tax. http://www.ij.org/asset-forfeiture-report-tennessee

State Threatens to Shut Down Nutrition Blogger
Nutrition board says he needs a license to advocate dietary approaches

CHARLOTTE — The North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition is threatening to send a blogger to jail for recounting publicly his battle against diabetes and encouraging others to follow his lifestyle.

Chapter 90, Article 25 of the North Carolina General Statutes makes it a misdemeanor to “practice dietetics or nutrition” without a license. According to the law, “practicing” nutrition includes “assessing the nutritional needs of individuals and groups” and “providing nutrition counseling.”

Steve Cooksey has learned that the definition, at least in the eyes of the state board, is expansive.

When he was hospitalized with diabetes in February 2009, he decided to avoid the fate of his grandmother, who eventually died of the disease. He embraced the low-carb, high-protein Paleo diet, also known as the “caveman” or “hunter-gatherer” diet. The diet, he said, made him drug- and insulin-free within 30 days. By May of that year, he had lost 45 pounds and decided to start a blog about his success.

Chinese Melamine vs American Vioxx

http://www.theamericanconservative.com/blog/chinese-melamine-and-american-vioxx-a-comparison/

In contrasting China and America, pundits often cite our free and independent media as one of our greatest strengths, together with the tremendous importance which our society places upon individual American lives.

For us, a single wrongful death can sometimes provoke weeks of massive media coverage and galvanize the nation into corrective action, while life remains cheap in China, a far poorer land of over a billion people, ruled by a ruthless Communist Party eager to bury its mistakes.

But an examination of two of the greatest public-health scandals of the last few years casts serious doubt on this widespread belief.

No Jesse or Al in Oklahoma

While everyone is crying about a Florida shooting, ya gotta go to U.K. news to hear about an Oklahoma crime. Amerikan media (non)reporting at its slimiest.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2117695/Brutal-home-invasion-Oklahoma-couple-ends-65-year-romance-meeting-blind-date.html

Couple met and married within a month and stayed together for 65 years... only to be parted after home invader beat wife to death.

No word yet on whether or not the victims would look like Obama's maternal grandparents.

We're All Branch Davidians Now

Nineteen years ago, just outside Waco, Texas, the FBI demonstrated once again that the state at its core is a killing machine. Monarchy, democracy, or republic – any government as conventionally defined is a legal monopoly on violence. The state is always inclined toward oppression, division, conquest, and bloodshed, because these are its tools of trade.

Meanwhile the campaigns of the incumbent and the challenger are nitpicking over matters of style. These major issues aren't even mentioned. Remember back when these tactics were only going to be used against "terr'izts"? Now, you're a terr'izt too.
