Rick G's Blog

This is getting rediculous

Read this blog or don't, I don't care. If you're hogging the boards with inane and multiple posts in a short period of time you might not want to read it.

One example...I checked the pick 4 forum at 2:15 this afternoon. Between 10:39 A.M. and 2:11 P.M., one member posted 8 of the 10 threads on my active topic list (since my last visit about 9 A.M. today) and is the last responder to EVERY SINGLE ONE of those posts as of 2:11 P.M.

We have a new member now who is equally as loquacious and I put them on my total block list immediately.

DO NOT TELL ME I DON'T HAVE TO READ YOUR POSTS...YOUR NAMES ARE ALL OVER THE SITE AND IF I HAVE TO READ YOUR NAMES IT'S NOT BLOCKING YOU AS I WISH. IT IS ONLY INCREASING MY DISPLEASURE WITH THIS SITE.

There should be a limit to forum posts per day regardless of membership status. If 33,000 members posted 30 posts a day these forums would be totally useless, which they have actually become. That would be about a million posts per day.

The egos, so-called "polls", non-lottery related bitching against the world, people, governments, etc. appearing on these forums are a real turn-off to the serious lottery players on this site which I'm assuming most of us are trying to be. None of us need the high blood pressure stimulants from these people.

33,000 members and a handfull of those members cannot seem to figure out how to organize their posts in a compact, concise and efficient manner, put them in the right location and who think way too highly of themselves, some of them hating every other person in the world, using the forums for non-lottery BS instead of their blog where it belongs.

Thanks to Todd for the other features available here at LP because if it was just these "forums" I would not be here right now.

If you disagree, please PM me so I can add you to my block list if you're not already there.

Please notice I put this in my blog and not a forum because my comments are not lottery-related.

Thank you.

A note about Pick 3 filters

This is just an observation I made and many others know this but I'm posting this for those that don't.

In the pick 3 game:

72% of all picks are singles.
72% of all picks a mix of odd / even
72% of all picks are a mix of low (0-4) and high (5-9).

The occurrence of these three stats combined together account for about 20% of all winning numbers. When this situation happens one of of every 5 draws your odds have been lowered from 1000 to 1 down to about 200 to 1 for a straight.

If you're looking for a guaranteed straight once in a while, in my study of picks (real numbers drawn, simulated RNG numbers and semi-randomly selected numbers), the numbers seem to have a bias for playing in ascending order. The normal would be 16.67% for this stat playing singles and 33.33% playing doubles; combining both types of draws, singles and doubles, this should happen about 22% of the time, but if you do your own study on any set of picks I think you'll come up with a higher % of this occurring ( I came up with a 25-30% occurrence range). Obviously this is not going to happen all the time, but if you play them that way every time you will be assured of at least your fair amount of straights and you might get a little goose here and there.

Check it out in your own state stats. If it isn't happening, then it's time to start playing them that way.

Just my 2 cents............as always, good luck to all of you! Troll

Give a person a fishing pole...

(Note: This is not in reference to Jack's last great blog entry or to Jack personally at all, I'm just paraphrasing his blog title.)

Give a person a fish or give them a fishing pole or give them bait, but PLEASE in the name of all that is HOLY and GOOD, quit shoving the carp, the hook, line, sinker, rod and reel down their throats EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! And when the bait, rod, line and hook aren't enough, don't treat them like a 3 year old and teach them how to put the worm on the hook....EVERY SINGLE DAY....OVER AND OVER AND OVER ad infinitum...............................

I know, I know.....the Doc says my blood pressure is high and my alcohol intake is excessive and the tobacco is not helping and the drugs he's prescribing are different from the one's I'm taking......but give me a break!!! I like "v's" and I like NASCAR racing, but anything can be overdone, kind of like wearing a pair of underwear for a week. Get my drift?

And please....you didn't have to read this blog so save any "you don't have to read it" response for your 1040 next year.

A Tribute to Max

My cat Max was diagnosed with a terminal liver disease in August. He never got better. Last night I had to make the decision between his quality of life and the pain he was probably going through vs. my selfish interests to keep him alive. I made that decision and my sons and I said our goodbyes. This morning I took him in to be euthanized. He was only 11 years old...reinforcing my belief that only the good die young.

The reason I'm writing this is two-fold. One, to get my feelings down on paper and two, because this cat is the best one I've ever owned and I've had many, so my emotions are running high.

This is my lame eulogy for a very cool cat. We all really loved him. He was born on or about 6/6/94 so I'm playing 6694 in his honor. If it were to perhaps come in, it will help me to know I made the right decision at the right time.

Thank you for letting me express our loss.

Just a comment about 823 combo

Last week I took on the task of deflating all P-3 draws in all states for the last year. The deflate option handles 10,000 combos at a time which was half of all states drawings for the last year. So I had to divide it in half to do the deflate and unfortunately when I went to do the bottom half (alphabetically) I inadvertently lost the first half of all draws.

But the interesting thing to see from the first half was the times the various combos of 823 came in all states last year (top tier). It was halfway down the page in tiers in the second half of the database so I don't know if it would have been number one overall and wasn't about to go through all that work again.

This week it hit in IL and today in CA mid. (first half of the total database). There might be more that came in this week in other states that I'm not aware of but my point is that this has been a very strong combo this past year.

Just wanted to let you know...I didn't want those hours of work going to total waste.

White Sox Parade

I hope all of you White Sox fans out there got a chance to see the victory parade in Chicago yesterday.

It was the most impressive ticker tape parade I've ever seen with probably a half million spectators and over 13 tons of ticker tape...looked like a blizzard out there; and F-14's from the IL National Guard participating.

The ceremony was very moving...this is coming from a life-long fan who saw them defeated in the '59 series against the L.A. Dodgers as an avid 8 year old baseball fan. I have to admit, there were tears in my eyes yesterday just like Jerry Reinsdorf.

The irony is that this World Series had the lowest TV ratings of all previous modern day World Series, but anyone who watched it will wonder why.

I'm very proud of our team for showing that 25 regular guys and a great owner/staff/manager and zero superstars can come together and accomplish what they did this year. I'm mostly proud of the City of Chicago for throwing the best damned parade I've ever seen.

I love this city.

PM's and common courtesy

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting sick and tired of people PM'ing me for info that do not have the common courtesy to send back a simple "thank you" for the the time I took to answer their PM's and afford them information.

I started this game on my own and any info I needed regarding the lottery I obtained by myself, not by PM'ing other members with requests.

In the future, if I don't know you, I will not be responding to your PM's and will put you on my block list. (The person with 8 posts here who PM'ed me this weekend is already there.)

My time is just as valuable as your's.

This lack of common courtesy in our society is starting to piss me off.

Taxation in the US

The middle class and the lower-middle class have been victims for years in our economy and tax-paying obligations.

The solution, contrary to Abraham Lincoln's income tax, is a consumption tax as opposed to a production tax.

Similar to a "state tax" on your purchases, the federal government should eliminate income taxes and should establish a flat rate tax on your (and other country's)  purchases, or consumption of goods purchased in the U.S.

This has several advantages, among them,

1)  The elimination of tax breaks, deductions and loopholes.

2)  The complete simplification of the current tax codes that would save us billions of dollars a year on the IRS, not to mention the time for the American worker to figure out his taxes.

3)  The software implementation is already in place in every single cash register in the US that collects sales tax via state and local sales taxes.

4)  Most important of all, the person consuming more pays more and the person consuming less pays less.

My point is that if a person can afford to buy a Lear Jet he should pay the equivalent percentage of taxes on that purchase as a person buying a pair of work boots.

The current tax system is not only extremely confusing and unfair, it encourages consumption and discourages production (and savings...note that we are one of the lowest of the industrialized nations in this regard).

When a millionaire pays less taxes than a middle class worker, something is wrong.  If the millionaire and the money launderer were to be forced to pay their taxes at the cash register, it would eliminate loopholes, deductions and "laundering".

Am I the only one who sees this?

"TV antenna" system for pick 3

Using last four IL midday and evening draws:

For Sat. 7/16 eve. pick:

Last 4 draws are

Sat. mid......101

Fri. eve.......610

Fri. mid........106

Thu. eve......534

There are two pairs you'll work with....the 64 and the 05 Combine your pairs with each of the other colored digits, giving you 056-054-640-645.  Result was 540.

Next draw, Sun. eve.:

Last 4 draws:

Sat eve......540

Sat mid......101

Fri eve.......610

Fri mid.......106

The two pairs to work with are 16 and 11.  Possible combos are 161-111.  Result was 111.

I call it the "antenna" system because the numbers you are not considering form a "TV antenna".  (However they might appear in the digits you are considering, which is OK).

Test it and let me know if it works for you....two consecutive draws does not make a "system", so feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Good luck everyone!!!

Click it or ticket?

On my way to get my lottery tickets this morning I had to run a gauntlet of 8 police cars and safety cones that merged four lane traffic on a busy street into two lanes.

The objective, you ask?  Not to look for the bad guys, it was to see if you were wearing your seat belt.

What a sad misdirection of law enforcement efforts.  If this is where the priorities lie in our nation, we are doomed.  Big Brother wants you to wear your seat belt and it requires 8 cars, 12 cops and a checkpoint to go through to ensure that you are doing so.

While we have terrorists threatening our country with nuclear, biological and chemical warfare it seems to be more important to bust Granny for not wearing her seat belt.

What a disgraceful shame and total waste of our resources.  I don't know who dreams up these priorities.  This is a sad commentary of our times.  Seat belts have become more important than violent crime.  I say this because two-thirds of our town's available law enforcement is tied up right now doing seat belt searches.  If I was a criminal, I would commit my crime right now.

By the way I always wear my seat belt and encourage all others to do so.  Not for Big Brother, but for your own safety.

Homeland Security???  I don't think so.

The multitudinous use of the word "freedom" for other countries by our leaders  doesn't seem to apply to Americans.

"We serve and protect" has become a whole new concept for our local law enforcement agencies.  "We hassle, fine and jail" might be a better slogan for their cars.

I have to get this off my chest

I have been a member at Lottery Post for years now.  I have made many friends here and there is a strong fellowship among the people that have visited here every day for years.

A lot of those old friends migrated from a site called Maybell's.  Maybell's failed and you know why?  One word....negativism; negativism towards each other and negativism towards the webmaster.

We do not want this site to fail.  We do not want to burn this webmaster out with petty BS.

If you are new here please read the rules; please use the Search option if you have questions; please read the instructions provided for all options; please be respectful to other members and most of all, please be respectful to Todd.  He is here to help, not be abused.

I've known Todd "electronically" for several years now and above all, he is a straight shooter and hard worker.  We may disagree on some things, but we always respect the right to disagree and maybe that's why I like the guy.

There are people here who would like to disrupt the harmony and flow of this site.  Get the "H-E-double hockey stick" out of here.  If you have a positive thing to contribute to the site then by all means stay and enjoy the site with the rest of us.

When Maybell's failed we went years without a lottery site on the whole internet similar to the way Todd has it set up with predictions, potential payoffs, etc.  Todd has provided us this laboratory again.  PLEASE let's not screw it up.  The site is excellent as it stands and it has taken a lot of hard work for Todd to provide this for us.

This petty crap has to stop and there are a lot of serious members here that would agree with me....a lot of them pay to be here and enjoy the site not to see sarcasm and insults..  We're here for winning the lottery and the camaraderie that goes with the site, period.  If you don't like it, please be gracious and leave.

Peace.

This has nothing to do with #'s

We don't have many earthquake tremors in Chicago but the New Madrid fault has been acting up lately.

I felt it today with no external factors (rain, etc.) involved.  One of the last one's epicenters was Joliet at 3.5 mag. (?) about 10 miles away.

There have been several tremors lately on the MO-AK-Ohio river fault line.  The last major quake on this fault line was 1818 and it was devastating.

Pick 3 wheel for three combos

This is a good wheel for someone who can regularly pick a key number that comes in but has no idea of what the other two digits will be and only wants to spend a few bucks per draw.

Select your key number first.  Then pick a sequence for the 0 through 9 digits.  This can be done by picking the digits out of a hat, using shuffled cards,  (I use a random number sequence generator).

 http://www.random.org/snorm.html

Keep track of the sequence that the digits are picked.  Then find your key number in that sequence.

For example, your key number is '2' and your number sequence comes up 5-1-4-2-7-0-9-6-3-8.

You put your key number in the 1st, 2nd and third position combined with the adjacent numbers in your sequence.

In this example you would play 270-427-142.

The advantages to this is a) your key digit is in each of the three positions, b) your key number is paired twice with the same digit in two out of three of your combinations, c) you are covering 5 digits in the wheel using only 3 combos, d) if your key number comes in, you've lowered your odds tenfold.

This wheel is for singles and should be played straight/box.

The sequence could be modified in many ways to suit your purposes, such as hottest pairings with your key digit, etc.

Good luck with it!

My life in the Chat World

You know, I can't keep up with the pace of chatrooms either.

You gotta be a speed reader, speed typer, and still be able to focus on the board as it scrolls faster and faster (while you're still typing your response from the last page in a beer-induced frenzy).

It's like a party and you have 45 people talking at once in small clusters and you're trying to keep up with all the conversations.  It's impossible!

I find a cluster I like and jump right in.  Usually they kick me out of the cluster but sometimes they let me stay.....and then I find myself in a cluster of older women talking about hot flashes.

Then I pick out the "babeness", look her straight in the eyes and tell her, "I feel your pain."

Has anyone esle had a weird experience?

This is a true story regarding an event that happened when I was about 10 years old.  If I've posted this before, please ignore and skip this blog.  I've told many people about it before so if you're one of them just skip it.

This is not about UFO's, but it is just as strange.

My brother and I shared a bunk bed in my home as children.  The window right next to our bed was adjacent to a 4' X 10' foot alcove next to our bedroom that was surrounded by bushes.  There was a full moon that night and I was awakened by a figure digging a hole in the alcove right next to our window.  It was summer, we had no AC and the window was open.  I awakened my brother and we left the bedroom because we were scared and sat on the floor in the room adjacent to ours for about 10 minutes while he was digging so we could still see out the window and yet be away from this.  Then we saw the figure leaving our back yard going by each of the three windows of the adjacent room we were sitting in and exiting via the  gate of our back yard..

We thought we heard the front door of the house opening and closing, so we figured my Dad was doing something there (it was a man wearing a "farmer's hat" - kind of like an 1800's wide brimmed  job, but my Dad didn't own one of those to the best of my knowledge.)

The next day I went to look at this alcove to see what was dug up in there.  There were absolutely no signs of digging in the area.  All soil intact...Just grass & weeds, etc.  I showed my brother this and he agreed and we blew the whole thing off.

For 30 years he and I never discussed this but when we finally did, we both had the same memories of that night.  Now we talk about it 40 years later still trying to figure it out.

He moved out a couple years later after this event and I had the room to myself.  I was constantly having nightmares of ghost's presence and odd noises in my part of the house.  My mother always reassured me that "houses make noises".

One night about 2 a.m. I was awkened to my mother and two sisters' screams.  I went to the bathroom where they were and my younger sister's face was full of blood and full of "cat scratches".

My mother blamed it on our cat, but I've had 20 or more cat pets in my life and they just don't attack you like that in the middle of the night with multiple wounds in the face without a major provocation.  In fact I have only heard of one aggressive domestic house cat in my life and our little female calico had never shown violent tendencies.

Just for background info, this was supposedly an Indian burial ground for the Sauk Indian tribe and in fact our street in Park Forest was named Sauk Trail for an ages-old Indian trail and our house was the low point in the neighborhood.  We found many Indian arrowheads in our backyard and I always thought that was a normal occurrence but have never found another arrowhead in the last 40 years of my life in any other places I have lived.

To finish a long story.....my grandmother and aunt moved in two houses away several years after that and had become friends with the people that now lived at my old home.  When I met them about 15 years ago I asked if I could tour the house for old times sake.  During our visit it somehow came up about the weird things that had happened in the house...and lo and behold....the woman of the house had experienced similar weird experiences including waking up to a "male ghost sitting on the edge of her bed".  Goose bump time.  I even had the creeps visiting the house that many years after I had lived there.

Very freaky...haunted house kind of thing.

Don't know what got me on that tangent but it will always be a question in my mind.
