Is Arizona cursed?
There have been 9 winning Powerball tickets sold in Arizona. The most recent was Barry Barbara Salzman from Las Vegas,Nevada in 2007.A couple of months before that the Arizona 9 shared a Powerball jackpot.

Why doesn't Utah have a lottery...
Mississippi will have a tough time getting a lottery for the same reason Nevada would have a tough time getting one... Casinos. Mississippi citizens that support gambling go to or work for Casinos... The rest are conservative and feel like gambling is the root of all evil... I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

Why doesn't Utah have a lottery...
Small population, religion and conservatism are the three main reasons these states don't have a state lottery.Utah is comprised mostly of Mormans.Utah,Nevada,Wyoming North Dakota have small populations that probably couldn't support a lottery. Arkansas,Mississippi, Alabama are in the Bible belt.I'd be very surprised if any of these states, with the possible exception of Arkansas, get a state lottery anytime soon,if ever.

Is it wrong to...?
mjwinsmith
If you were going to a Nevada sports book (the only legal ones in the country, so we'll use Nevada) and someone gave you a six team football paraly to bet, would you see anything wrong with betting the same six team parlay?
Isn't a pick 6 lottery game the ultimate six team parlay?
I don't see any difference.
I also don't see any question of honesty in playing or not playing the same numbers....especially since in your examples you are assuming a solo jackpot, and you can n

Correlation btwn Lotto Players and Gambling in General
I mainly play the lottery, but when I visit family members who live in Nevada, I end up playing the slot machines. I've always been too scared to actually sit down at a table and play poker and blackjack with other people (even though I've always wanted to). One of these days, I may actually get up the courage to do it. lol.

If your state doesn't have a lottery...
I doubt Alaska and Wyoming would bother starting up state lotteries if just for the fact that neither state really has enough people for it to generate much revenue and could possibly lose money. I think it's pretty obvious why it wouldn't happen in Utah and Nevada/Bizarro Utah's casino/gambling industry and its lobbyist wouldn't allow the potential competition. As for Alabama and Mississippi I don't know what their issue is but it might be similar to Utah's though I doubt it's as strong of an i

39 states and D.C. Have Lotteries
I don't believe Nevada will ever have the lottery. Where do you get 11 states? I come up with AR,HI,UT,WY,NV,AL,MS,AK but what are the other 3 states?

Why is it beneficial to collect a lottery jackpot as a LLC?
Forming a LLC for your assets can be done as a form of protection of assets, specifically from lawsuits, especially frivolous ones, something a trust won't really do, an LLC gives you a bit of protection I think. It's a rather popular thing to do, especially using Nevada as a base where the laws more friendly to asset protection compared to most other states.

Question about blind trusts...
From Wikipedia
A blind trust is a trust in which the executors or those who have been given power of attorney have full discretion over the assets, and the trust beneficiaries have no knowledge of the holdings of the trust. Blind trusts are generally used when a settlor (sometimes called a trustor or donor) wishes to keep the beneficiary unaware of the specific assets in the trust, such as to avoid conflict of interest between the beneficiary and the investments. Politicians often place

Found this surfing the web, Interesting article!!
Readers should be aware that the article was written for people in Texas, which is a community property state. While most of the information likely applies elsewhere as well, not everything will. Those playing the lottery in non-community property states, especially, will find a few differences. It is my understanding that there are only nine community property states: Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.
