if it's over $600 taxes... I had $750 of tickets saved up from March and took them to the casino and just cashed them out with the bartender with no paperwork involved and they told me as long as EACH ticket was less than $600 then taxes or paperwork. Also as a courtesy to my local retailers and only because I'm 20 minutes away...I only cash my bigger tickets at the casino.

If I am correct, no taxes on 600. That is the largest amount the retailer can pay out. Over 600 there are taxes.

I heard if you win big, you can use your losers to offset the taxes. If you have enough in losers, you dont need to pay taxes

I was looking at the Social Security website and I will have to pay taxes on Social Security. I was so shocked. My husband is still trying to absorb that. I always thought it was tax free. Most of the people I know don't pay any social security taxes

Go for the GUS-DOUGH in PA-PICK 3
Dee I am glad you got that one. I should of stopped before I went to do taxes. I hate doing taxes because I always have to pay.

if you win 10K, don't cash it in at the lottery office b/c you will have to pay taxes on it. you will get a check for 10K up front, but you will have to pay income taxes on it... nothing is tax free. best route to go with that is a lot of different places and spread it out over a couple of days....

Undress, save all your play tickets...........EP is right.............you can deduct them for your taxes...make sure you set some money aside estimating your taxes..........come tax time you don't want to be surprised...................that is exactly why I don't play 4 digit........I won big once and I thought it was a hassle.........I rather win on 10 Pick3 straight tix....lol...wouldn't everyone...

Undress, they will not take taxes out on the spot on that amount. They take taxes on the spot on 50,000 and above. Come income tax time you will have to claim, but if you can prove to uncle SAM you lost more than you won you won't have to pay anything.

I agree. I had won a pick 4 combo ticket a few months back. They did not take any taxes out. I got a check for $5000 after filling out the form at the office. If you win over a certain amount they have to take the taxes out no matter what. I am no tax expert but its probably better they take the taxes out up front because you will owe at tax time. Unless you can prove you had $5000 in losses. Keep those losing tickets.

You have that wrong about taxes taken out over $500 as it's over $600...I've won $600 several times since the lottery started with p4 no taxes were taken out...it's $601 over. I only know about what was taken out from personal experience with $600 $1000 because I won both of those. I don't know how they will get anything if you won $601 but you probably won't win that amount from anything anyway but that was how it was worded to me when I took my tickets in to cash them in here at the clai
