The game really had only one decent prize and now that was been reduced by this change. That normally $10 for beating 80 something to 1 odds was/is a joke. And that second prize which many times wasnt even $100 is a huge slap in the face for someone beating 2400 to 1 odds.....now beating nearly 400,000 to one odds isnt going be even $100,000 after taxes. I will be surprise if this doesnt take a huge hit in the amount of people playing.

Here's what's wrong with playing JPT when the jackpot is low..... A guy in North Fort Myers won a $300,000 jackpot playing JPT on December 2nd. OK great! Congrats to him and I know he's very happy to have won. BUT!! While the advertised jackpot was $300,000, he took the Cash Option, and therefore he received $195,802. Although I'm not sure about this, that amount is probably BEFORE TAXES! If I'm correct, he took home probably about half the advertised jackpot. $195,800 before taxes is wh

I've been thinking about JPT. It's probably going to take a while before somebody hits the two million dollar jackpot, and if they take the cash option (most people have done exactly that) they probably will receive a prize of less than $1,300,000 before taxes.... Remember last Summer how it took a couple of months of rolldown drawings until the jackpot was won? The winner took the cash option and won $1,368,000 before taxes. I think the same thing is going to happen with this $2,000,000 ja

I have not received a response from The Florida Lottery yet, but from looking at their app on my i-Phone I saw the following; All jackpot Triple Play prizes are pari-mutuel. The advertised jackpot prize will be paid in annual payments over 25 years, or as a single cash payment of a lesser amount. Ala PowerBall and MegaMillions. That tells me that if a player wins ANY jackpot amount and takes the Cash Option (which is what I'd do) they won't win the advertised jackpot amount. Rather they'

Thank you so much for this post. Such good information in here! How about those 7 winners last night? Now, winning $23k on a dollar bet is an awesome return on investment (even after taxes) but you have to imagine there was a tad bit of despair when learning the jackpot was to be shared with SIX other winners! I have never seen that many winners, has to be some kind of record (or maybe one person played back a QP several times...time will tell!)

Exactly! Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy with $500 right now ... but to win a JP and come away with so little would still hurt. And anything over $5k they take the taxes out right then and there ... at least if you play the P4 right you wouldn't have to settle up until April 15.

Payouts, taxes, collection
HI, Just joined forum and looking forward to peoples insights and advice. I have been playing Take 5 on and off for a couple years now. One of the first few times that i played i won $400 bucks. I am grateful for this. I like playing Take 5 because i feel you have a better chance at winning this than Mega or powerball. Although its not life changing money when you win, it can help some of us wipe the late clean financially plus i enjoy the joy of winning. With that being said i have a few que

Cash 5 Start Date
Thanks. Would you know how much a top prize winner actually walks away with after taxes? I heard it was about $60k, but I'm looking for an exact dollar amount. Any idea?
