I've never seen a retailer print on a winning ticket before that would be an expensive printer and time consuming. The Bar Code on the back is for Lottery and Retailer use only not for the consumer, so you could have a picture on your phone and scan it and the cashier would be apart of the theft. Black out works but it's too messy just cover with a thumb or fold the bar code out of view.

I figured that had something to do with the retailer payout amount of $600, but they could have made the 4-number winner $599. I'd like to know why the retailer payout is so low. In PA, it's $2,500. Huge difference.

isn't a bonus check only handed out if the prize is claimed? I'm pretty sure that's how it works in some states, but not all of them. I've never understood why a retailer should get paid thousands of times as much for selling one ticket than any other ticket, but if they're going to do it at all I don't see why collecting the prize matters. The retailer sold the ticket and the lottery collected their share, so the retailer is being penalized because the player died, forgot, or lost the tick
