Hmmm, not much advantage in posting one won a game where skill didn't count, no chance to sell the secret method or other nonsense. Still we do get creatures that like to announce they've joined, get praised and vanish. Next week another creature appears to be praised. Maybe it's just me, I've reached the point when people tell me amazing things I just say, "That's nice." or "How interesting." and wait to see what they do next.

I find it strange that everyone here talks all the time about wanting and waiting to win a jackpot (we cheer each other on, for pete's sake! ) and then when someone does (the jury's still out on this one?) a lot of folks will be the first ones to rain on your parade. If I ever won a jackpot you can bet your bottom dollar I wouldn't spread the news, not only because I want to remain anonymous but because from the sounds of it, no one would believe me on here anyway. I'm not saying EVERYONE, but you know who you are. The tone of this thread isn't what it should be if this was truly andrew's lucky day.
rubber I looked up a guy named dale ohler and sure enough he did hit the lottery but I fail to see the point of writting him untill you give this board a reason to write;

But RJOh, they're $1 each, not $20. So even 50 extra tickets is $50. Just 5 raffle tickets would be $100. Also, since the raffle tickets are printed in numerical order, not with random combinations, I think it's a little different. PB tickets don't sell out and there isn't a limited number printed. Just my personal feelings no matter how silly it sounds.
I bought my BigGame tickets on the boarder at a Michigan truckstop/restaurant on Rt23 and they weren't $1 QPs but $5 and they had a box of them. I usually stood in line 30-50 minutes to play my cards since I picked my numbers but I also bought QPs for my co-workers and would usually buy a $100 worth or so of the preprinted ones to save time. This store had extra people just to sell lottery tickets whenever lotto fever hit and they knew they could sell every ticket they printed.

Why would printing the tickets in numerical order make it any different? If the winning number is drawn randomly, then for all practical purposes the number that gets printed on any given ticket is random. That number is only an identifier for the ticket, and anything that could differentiate one ticket from another would work just as well. Consecutive numbers are simply the easiest way to identify individual tickets and exclude unplayed numbers from the drawing.
As for a store printing extra $20 tickets I agree that it's probably a big gamble. Border stores have plenty of history that let them know that for a big jackpot they can sell 50, 100 or 200 tickets after they stop printing them. There isn't much risk, but even selling 1000 tickets won't earn them much profit. I'd see it as more of a public relations gesture. The history for the raffle games is very limited, and shows mixed results. Even if store gets a 10% commission, they're only making $2 for each $18 they risk losing. If you're positive you can sell 50 tickets for $1000 you make all of $100, but you can't make a profit until you sell at least 90% of the tickets. Everybody here is willing to gamble, but how many would spend $900 to win $1000?

In Maryland they said that the raffle tickets would be printed in order from 000000 to 420000 but they did say if you bought ten tickets in a row at the same time, that you might not get consecutive numbers because there might be other people buying tickets at the same time and the central computer will kick out the tickets in the order at which they were place so you might get tickets 100001 and 100005 and 100010 while other people will get the numbers in between.
This does not mean that you couldn't possibly get consecutive numbers. Just that there's a chance you wouldn't if lots of people are buying raffle tickets at the same time.

KY Floyd, I agree with you that the numbers are random, but that's not what I meant. I was referring to games where there are a limited amount of tickets sold. For example, the FL Raffle had 1,500,000 tickets sold for July 4 and at 8:44 on Sunday they were sold out. After that, nobody else could buy a ticket. So someone walks into a convenience store at 8:50 and is told "sorry, you can't buy a ticket." If a store owner printed 100 extra tickets in Miami because he felt he could sell them to customers, he might be preventing someone from playing in Tampa. To me, that's not the same as printing 100 extra Lotto quick picks, because players can still walk into any Lottery retailer until 15 minutes before the drawing and play their personal numbers and/or buy quick picks. There also isn't any guarantee of a winner as there is in the Raffle.

Lots of people lurk here whom have never posted maybe they didn't have any reason to but winning a million dollars and being the first person to exclaim it could be the thrill of a lifetime.
Just because a person doesn't post doesn't mean he or she doesn't feel a part of the family especially after having spent many months or years just reading posts and following along with the crowd. As this person has stated been here for a long time never posted.
I have joined some user groups in the past that i never posted until months after joining. I mainly didn't post because i had nothing to contribute when i finally posted to a thread a bunch of people posted the same like feelings they said stuff like (you've been a member for three months and this is your first post.) (where have you been and stuff like that) i felt awkward trying to explain that i didn't have anything worth wild to say.
It's any wonder newer members or lurkers ever actually post to threads when for the most part they get torn apart. Just as this person has.
I got ripped on my first-ever post, but like anywhere else, it comes with the territory. It isn't right, but that's pretty much what the internet is.
Some folks - even here - have thousands of postings, but say nothing, and some have 100-300, and say a lot, you have it all kinds of ways.
I don't publicly post 95% of my ideas, thoughts or theories, just because it's not worth the aggravation.
Life goes on...
If I won a jackpot, and I posted here, would anyone believe me ? Would anyone care ? Would I care ?

For those of you who play the lottery and sometimes think "I'll never win", keep playing!!!!
I was one of those people until today. Here's my story:
My dad came over my house on Tuesday and I had just bought an umbrella for my pool, but it needed to be weighted down, so my father was going to go to Home Depot, I asked if he had gotten a $1,000,000 Independance day NJ lottery ticket yet and he said "no". I told him to pick one up for us and didn't think twice about it until he called me to check the number. We are now $1,000,000 richer (less Uncle Sams 25 percent cut). Luckily there's NO state tax on lottery winnings in NJ, so we gte to keep more of it.
The moral of the story is "Somebody always wins and it can be you!!!!
For those of you who might not believe this post, you can check the winner in a few days. The winning ticket bought in Howell NJ will have a last name that starts with the letters MO-----
Congrats on your Win,Here's a party for youWishing you more future luck$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

AFAIK, 'Powerball' shuts down sales about 2 hours before the drawing, which occurs at 10PM CST.
But I'm sure different games in different states have different limits.
In Ohio, you can buy MegaMillions tickets as long as the stores keep their terminals opened. Some 24hr. service stations keep theirs opened all the time except when they're down for updating and servicing. If you buy MM tickets too close to 10:45PM on the night of the drawing, they may be for the next drawing.
