"No point in arguing about this.  I guess I am foolish to think there are "ethics" in gambling."
I Agree! Buying extra tickets before the game is closed and speculating that customers will buy them later is gambling too.

 * you don't need to buy more tickets, just buy a winning ticket *

YOUR  WELCOME  , BUT  LP { doesn't want ME } TO  POST  ARTICLES... I  thought  it  was just  public  Thumbs Upinformation:

Just to clarrify what irondoor827 said, so there's no confusion, I asked him to follow the policy that I've posted many times before, of not pasting news stories and articles into the forums.  For example, http://www.lotterypost.com/thread/155176.

Don't take it personally, there are many needs for this, as I explained in my PM to you.

No point in arguing about this.  I guess I am foolish to think there are "ethics" in gambling.  Of course a person purchasing 10 tickets has a greater chance of winning than someone who buys only one.  I was only saying that I don't believe in special treatment, and a store owner who prints extra tickets for his regular customers is giving them an advantage.  My original comment about this matter was in response to a post stating that this was the case.  Yes, it's true that nobody should wait until there are 100 tickets left when a raffle has 500,000.  However, take hundreds of retailers or even 20 who print extra tickets for their "regulars" and the actual sales posted every day aren't accurate.

I think a ticket should only be printed when it's paid for by the customer.  I am not debating this issue, only stating what I believe to be fair and random.  Nobody would go into a casino and try to play a hand without a bet.  The dealers don't "save" cards for players.  You can't throw dice without placing a bet first. The slots don't work until you put money into them.  So, since I look at the lottery as a form of gambling, I don't see why these rules don't apply.

Maybe that's another issue altogether and why so many people might disagree with me.  What I mean is that people aren't supposed to look at buying lottery tickets as gambling.  Yes, it's gambling with very bad odds, but still gambling nonetheless.

Think of it as buying sports tickets or theatre tickets over the phone, and picking them up at the 'will call' window.

The guy WILL sell them, or he would not print them. And retailers don't like to 'eat' anything, so I'm sure he knows his market.

It's not a question of 'being fair' - it's called 'business', and it's not like a Casino because money and items change hands for future use, not on-the-spot like at a Blackjack table.  If we wanted to get into 'fairness' and possibly 'ethics', then Casinos should not allow those in that are on welfare or have claimed bankruptcy...

I have no problem with pre-printed sales at all.

This post, from page 11 of this thread:

"I hope this girl is for real. Then become really really rich. Then become nice and share some of us with the money."

is the exact reason why most people here would never post about hitting a jackpot.

It's also got me wondering how many of the lurkers to this site think it's a site of jackpot winners and they're going to find one and get them to "share the wealth".

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

              Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Some players don't even know that state lotteries put limits on the amount they will payout or ignorantly believe that not many people thought about playing 777 on July 7, 2007, 111 on January 11, or 317 on St. Patrick's Day.

Lottery agents printing extra tickets for certain dates is pretty common because they know those numbers will sell out. They sell them to their regular customers that come in later in the day or cancel the tickets before the drawing. Last Saturday 777 and 7777 probably sold out the Midday draw the night before and sold out the Evening draw right after most stores opened for business on Saturday morning.

Even thought most lotteries advertised they were selling a limited amount and started selling their raffle tickets 6 weeks before the drawing, people were probably still complaining because they couldn't buy a ticket an hour before the draw.

It's not like Supply and Demand is a new concept.
