I didn't understand what was so big about the day 7-7-7? Can someone explain it to me? I didn't see anybody make a big fuss about 06/06/06, 05/05/05, 04/04/04, and so forth and I don't expect anything for 08/08/08. To me it was just a day to hype people up to spend more money on the date. Oh, and on Friday the 13th I will play 666. I'm superstitious about 666 on the 13th.

I love doubles and remember, it's just a game!!!!!!

No point in arguing about this.  I guess I am foolish to think there are "ethics" in gambling.  Of course a person purchasing 10 tickets has a greater chance of winning than someone who buys only one.  I was only saying that I don't believe in special treatment, and a store owner who prints extra tickets for his regular customers is giving them an advantage.  My original comment about this matter was in response to a post stating that this was the case.  Yes, it's true that nobody should wait until there are 100 tickets left when a raffle has 500,000.  However, take hundreds of retailers or even 20 who print extra tickets for their "regulars" and the actual sales posted every day aren't accurate.

I think a ticket should only be printed when it's paid for by the customer.  I am not debating this issue, only stating what I believe to be fair and random.  Nobody would go into a casino and try to play a hand without a bet.  The dealers don't "save" cards for players.  You can't throw dice without placing a bet first. The slots don't work until you put money into them.  So, since I look at the lottery as a form of gambling, I don't see why these rules don't apply.

Maybe that's another issue altogether and why so many people might disagree with me.  What I mean is that people aren't supposed to look at buying lottery tickets as gambling.  Yes, it's gambling with very bad odds, but still gambling nonetheless.

For what it's worth.... I agree with you justxploring. But I have been on the otherside with that. One time in KY i went to play all the quads but they were locked out. I played my other numbers and left. I remembered that I had forgot a number and stopped at another store and played that number. While standing there talking to the clerk I told him that I really wanted to play quads but they were locked out. He told me that he had a bunch of quad tickets that they printed up just in case a quad was locked out and someone wanted all quads. What they store did was wait until a few minutes before draw break and cancelled the tickets they didn't sell so they would lose the money on them. Now KY has fixed that because a ticket has so much time after it is printed to be cancelled and the stores don't want to be stuck with those tickets so they don't do it. Since they have incorporated that rule there are less locked out numbers. 999 used to be locked out all the time.

without going into great detail 7 is considered a lucky number.

so on 07/07/07 was the luckiest day of the year a coined expression for anytime the month day and year are the same number.

08/08/08 --- 09/09/09  10/10/10 etc won't be a glamorous as 07/0707 but will still draw many people to play combinations of this and plan many activities around it.

on 07/07/07 party planers and caterers all over th place were booked to the max with weddings and such.

Hope you are right.  Wouldn't it be in the news?  So far there is nothing on the New Jersey site about anyone claiming the $1 million.

I truly hope this person did indeed win the lottery, for he would have nothing to gain by posting such a false claim on the internet other than the satisfaction(?) of having so many people reply to his post.

As I mentioned earlier this week, if I had just found out that I won a million dollars, I would be spending the time planning with my family and contacting my attorney as opposed to spreading it on a message board....just doesn't seem right to post on a board so soon after you found out you won. Wouldn't you want anonymity? In any case, I truly hope this person has won, and if this is indeed the case, then a hearty congratulations to you!!

I always love to see someone from NY posting. I used to live in Canarsie. Where are you?

I lived on the corner of Rockaway Pkwy and the 69th precinct, I forget the name of the cross road. I think it started with an "F".

Had to take the "L" train from Queens Plaza at one o'clock in the morning, eventually having to ride through the projects, in which I was almost robbed once, just before my destination in Canarsie. That's when I bought a car...lol

But I grew up in Queens....mostly in Rego Park, and Forest Hills.

Nice to meet you!!! I'm in good ole Flatbush - have been for over 30 years now! Canarsie's not too far from me!

Wow - I remember the 'L' train. Used to take it myself when I worked in the city. Subways are still the same here - overcrowded and hot, lol - but they're safer than they were a few years ago. Thank goodness!

                      Again, nice to meet you!!!

I could never live like this again, but I lived in Northern Jersey and worked in Manhattan.

Every morning I was up at 5:00 to be at work at 8:00. Took the bus to Port Authority and then usually walked the rest of the way, sometimes took the subway.

Getting back home, walked from work or subwayed back to Port Authority- this is around 5:00 pm in NYC - and when I bought my bus ticket I knew it wasn't for the bus that was there right now, but for the fourth or fifth one that would be coming along. Lines of people waiting for buses home.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

                            Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.
