Somebody on Long Island won a SM JP last nite.  First time in quite a while.  Maybe since that minor league baseball player won in February.  Another QP......

For 32 years, I worked in the data processsing industry.  I'm familiar with all kinds hardware, and software.

I met and knew many programmers, systems analysts, storage managers, and database analysts.

I know what a Random Number Generator program is and does.  I know that marking my playslip's first game box with my own numbers, and then marking the QP box in the second game box will have absolutely no effect on what numbers I get for my QP.

Why then, did this happen last night when I bought two dollars of Sweet Million?

      First Line (my pix):  08 11 13 22 34 37

      2nd Line (The QP):  16 17 30 31 34 37

I swear the machine is looking at my pix and then deciding to throw some of them on the QP line!!!!!!!!!

Although I havent looked at the number of 2nd place winners in a long time, my guess is that it isnt you Kap.

Aint anybody playin SM.  I wouldnt be surprised if fewer and fewer people are playing it.  I wonder if The NY Lottery will pull the plug on it due to lousy ticket sales?

As for me, I'm still playin it, but not alot.  I play either on Monday or Thursday, but not on both days.  And I only buy a buck or two.  I get QP's because I dont track the SM numbers.  If I play Take5 on a Monday or a Thursday, then I usually dont play SM.  If I didnt play Take5, then I might go for 3 bucks or even 4 dollars QP on SM.

Sweet Millions is tough I don't mess with that game. I guess I would play only if I had a strong feeling about 6 lucky numbers. I wouldnt play that game looking for a 2nd prize win because a 2nd prize win matching 5 out of 6 numbers correctly only pays out $500.00

THe odds of correctly matching 5 out of 6 numbers in Sweet Millions for a $500.00 prize are 1 in 18,815.

The odds of a "straight hit" and $500.00 payout in pick 3 are 1 in 1,000.(Hit any pick 3 number for $1 straight and win $500.00)

So your odds of a $500 payout in Pick 3 are over 17 times better than your odds of a $500.00 payout 2nd prize win in Sweet Millions for the same  $1 spent !

                .

I also noticed the same. The average second prize winners was like 40, now it is like 15.This game will not survive the way it is unless the nylottery changes the matrix.I play $1 once a month.

Some picks for 5/12/11.  My usual method:

                      5-18-24-26-37-39

                      9-13-21-26-30-34

                      1-14-27-28-30-36

                      7-9-15-28-32-37

                      1-6-24-30-33-34

                      6-9-21-24-33-39

Why don't people like this game?

I think I would.  Jersey's Pick 6 has 49 numbers, and starts at 2 million, it only moves up very slowly.

So I'd rather have a game with odds twice as about a little more than 3 times better, with a 1 million payout.

Just my two cents, but I usually stick to cash 5 games for the higher odds, I'll venture into some QPs for Pick 6 cuz hey, who doesn't want to be a millionaire.

I agree. I have not missed a single drawing since they introduced the game.  Confounding game to forecast....but I usually get at least 3 of 6 with my own picks.  Occasionally I wash out...but not often.

Last nites SM numbers pretty well fit the "profile" of what a set of numbers should look like.

3 odd, 3 even, sum was 125, half from the low numbers and half from the high numbers. Yet there was no JP winner again.  A set of numbers like that should have produced a JP winner. It probably would have, if The NY Lottery could sell enough SM tickets, which they cant and dont.

MegaMillions and Powerball have a coverage problem too, when their JP's are low.  Regular lottery players know that those games have riduculously long odds.  Therefore when the JP is low, not enough tickets are sold to cover a majority of the possible number of combinations.  But when the JP is large, regular players start playing it, and people who normally dont play at all jump on the bandwagon. With all those extra tickets being sold, it doesnt take long for the JP to be won.  As of today's date, PB is at 95 million. I'll bet that PB ticket sales are somewhat higher than usual right now, but they still may not be enough to produce a winner.

About playing the lottery --  You will lose more than you win. Until you hit a jackpot.  Then everything changes!
