joker17,

Good stuff, interesting. I like that saying you spelled out phoenetically. The only thing you said I question is material things. I think they are really temporary "highs" at best, then they become just another "if only". "If only" I had that car I'd be the happiest person in the world. A month later that "if only" gives into another "if only" and unfotrtunatley some people go through every dime they have before they realize it.

Sometimes this "if only" things also includes other people. "If onlly she would date me", etc....which can be a real snare because whenever anyone puts their emotional erll being in the hands of another human they're going to get zonked.

That landlady sounds like some of the "hi-rollers" in Vegas.

Ok, you have your opinions about the "IF", but at the end of the day, I would rather have problems with money than without...any day of the week....Period!  i could handle problems better with money than without....

It's not temporary highs in my opinion. It's a peace of mind to never ever have to worry about where the money is coming from next, long term...

Money can never buy happiness..... What it buys is FREEDOM!!!!

FREEDOM from the BS of life, bills, worries.

FREEDOM to do whatever you want to do in your minds eye.

FREEDOM to Create, change, and dream.

If you are not happy now when you do WIN you will make horrid mistakes trying to fill your void and loose it all quicky...

and now the choir may sing..... lol.

If I win, it just means I can stop working at my present job, the only real source of my unhappiness. Everything else in my life is just fine.

          I Agree!

            That is debatable.

I'm willing to bet you a thousand bucks someone who is unhappy because they have to work 50 hours + a week at a job they hate to make ends meet, can't afford healthcare, lives in an undesirable part of town in a one bedroom apartment, drives a car which could break down at any time and couldn't afford to fix it, living paycheck to paycheck worrying whether the light bill and rent will be paid on time,  eating unhealthy food cause they can't afford otherwise, can't help family members who need financial help, hasn't taken a vacation for 20 years because they can't afford one, can't buy new clothing, will disagree with you.

The same people that will be unhappy again!

I would not look for it to buy me happiness as much as peace of mind.....to pay off the bills and have a piece of car that runs winter and summer, and not have to worry about going out in bad weather if I do not wish to.....just turn over and go back to sleep..

First of all it's one third, and secondly, not everyone does what the one third does, and that's why the two thirds are still happy. Thirdly, If the one third are gonna end up unhappy again, what's the harm? At least they had it good for a while. So you've accomplished nothing by your observation.

Do me a favor Raven, If you win the JP, just give it to me so I can be unhappy. I'll spare you the aggravation....Crazy

I simply don't understand some of the comments in this thread. What?

I mean, what's the bottom line here folks? I'm gonna start a poll that deals with this and want to see who is gonna B.S. me and who's the honest ones. The question in this thread was whether you'd be happy or not, but I must ask, the people who've commented here saying it wouldn't bring happiness, does this mean you'd turn the money away because it may cause unhappiness?...I don't get it. You can't have it both ways. You can't play mother Theresa in one breath, then turn around and take the money anyway. It's one or the other in my book.
